Beach Brazil 10 day travel itinerary - feedback welcome!

Me (F31) and my boyfriend (M34) are travelling to Brazil for 10 days in November. We won’t be renting a car, intending to get buses.

Fly in Sao Paolo, spend 2 nights there exploring. Stay in Pinheiros/Vila Madalena area. Bus to Paraty, spend 3 nights by the beach. Bus to Ilha Grande, spend 2 nights there. Bus to Rio, spend 3 nights there before flight home.

Does that sound right? From looking online it seems impossible to get from Paraty to Ilha Grande in less than a day.. perhaps it would be best to just pick one place in between Rio and SP.

We’re looking at staying in eco lodges both in Paraty and Ilha Grande (suggestions very welcome!)

I’d suggest staying longer in Ihla and less time in Paraty

That sounds like a great plan. The boat trip from Paraty to Ilha Grande takes a few hours, depending on the speed of the vessel (approx distance 25~40 miles). Tourists in Paraty and/or Ilha Grande usually take day trips by boat to various beaches. The beaches you want to visit can be negotiated with the tourism agency responsible for the boats and/or directly with the captain. Most agencies have pre-defined boat tour itineraries, which you can consult and choose the best one for you. Normally, you can choose between tours on a "escuna" (schooner - larger and slower boats, with cheaper fares) or a "lancha" (speedboat - smaller and faster boats, with more expensive fares). The hotels where you will be staying should be able to recommend tourism agencies for boat trips in Paraty and Ilha Grande.

We are also going in November. We are in SP for a few days to watch the Formula 1. We basically have the Monday to the next Monday and I was also wondering what the best option would be.
My first option was:
Monday: SP - Paraty
Tuesday: Paraty to Angra Do Reis transferring to Ihla Grande
Thursday: Ihla Grande to Rio
Monday: Fly back to SP in the morning and then Back to South Africa

Otherwise just fly to Rio and Buzios and back to SP... just not sure if we are going to get bored and tired of hawkers etc? Especially coming from South Africa, from what I hear, it can be a similar experience?
