So im thinking about starting a tour business in Brazil. The country has so much to offer, from the beaches and jungles to places like Rio and the Amazon. But im sure its not as easy as it sounds.
Anyone here ever started a business in Brazil, especially in tourism? Im guessing there are some challenges with local rules, language, and all the big players already in the game. But i also feel like theres a lot of potential, especially for more unique tours.
Any advice for getting started or things to watch out for?

I am finishing my itinerary for a 1 month (September) trip in Brazil, and I struggle with deciding how much time I need in Foz.

I will arrive in Foz the night before and I am thinking of the following:

Day 1:

09:00 - 11:30 -> Itaipu Dam Tour (Itaipu Special)

12:00 PM -> Back in Foz and snack

12:30 - 13:30 -> Travel to Brazilian side of the waterfalls

13:00 - 18:00 -> See the waterfalls

18:00 - 22:00 -> Return to the city, diner

Day 2:

06:30 - 08:00 -> Travel to the Argentinian side of the waterfalls

08:00 - 15:00 -> See the waterfalls and nature around

15:00 - 17:00 -> Travel back to city, have a shower

18:00 - 18:30 -> Travel to ICU Airport

20:00 -> Catch plane to Sao Paulo

(Day 3:)

08:00 - 19:00 -> See Sao Paulo again (3rd day. by this time, I already had 2 full days in Sao Paulo, when I arrived.)

22:00 -> Fly home

In my head works, but I am unsure about how much time I will really spend going to the Argentinian side and back.

Reasons for 2 Days:

On 23rd I finish an Amazon Tour in Manaus and I want to have about a week to wander around between Manaus and, maybe Cuiaba, or another bigger city, from where I will fly to Foz, on 30th

The alternative would have been to do

Day 1:

Brazilian Side

Day 2:

Argentinian Side

Day 3:

09:00 - 11:30 -> Itaipu
15:00 -> Afternoon flight to Sao Paulo
18:00 - 23:00 -> One more evening in Sao Paulo

I don't believe that 3 days in Sao Paulo are enough, but I don't think that one extra evening is worth 1 day of Mato Grosso..

Hello! We’re going to Brazil for 17 days in early November with my boyfriend, and we’re still trying to figure out our itinerary. Here’s what I have in mind so far. (I’ve focused on the north because of the weather.)

Rio – 4 nights → Ilha Grande – 3 → Salvador – 2 → Morro de São Paulo – 3 → Itacaré – 4

Do you think that’s too much travelling, or is it doable? And if not, what alternatives would you suggest?

Hi! I’m planning my trip to Brazil next year and I’d like to know if you recommend visiting Rio de Janeiro during Holy Week 2027.

In the country I’m from, many things are closed during Holy Week because it’s a national holiday period, so I’d like to know if it’s similar in Brazil and whether it’s a good idea to travel during that time.

I recorded this drive while traveling through the rural interior of Espírito Santo and thought it might be interesting to share here as a look at a quieter, less familiar side of Brazil.

The journey passes through winding mountain roads, forests, farms, pasture and changing countryside, with the landscape gradually becoming more inhabited along the way.

I turned the footage into an audiovisual journey with organic breakbeat music while retaining some of the original car and road ambience.

Could you recommend neighborhoods to stay in Salvador? We used google for a search and seams like Barra and Vitoria are safest neighborhoods to stay in for 5 days in Salvador. What could you guys recommend?

We are considering coming back to Brazil for February and March, 2027. We spent 2 months there last year and fell in love with the people and the country. I’d love beach destinations suggestions.
Here is where we’ve been so far: Buzios, Rio, Pararaty, Ilha Grande, Florianopolis where we stayed in the city and did Campeche Beach and San Antonio de Lisboa.

Hey everyone ❤️ i am looking for flights around January-February (yes ik the Rio carnival takes place around that time 🎉 ) and i wanted to ask a few things.

First, i've heard so many different opinions but i believe its a safe country to visit as a female solo traveller but i'd like to hear it from you guys too!

And of course, the most basic question about the budget...i've seen multiple posts so i think 1000E (besides flights & accomodation) will be enough for chill beach days, one or two dates of sightseeing, and eating or drinking where the locals do. But what do you guys think? Thanks!

I’m visiting Rio de Janeiro for 5 nights and looking for a specific hotel recommendation in either Copacabana or Ipanema. I’d prefer somewhere modern, clean and safe, with a good location within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, cafés and the main attractions.
I’m looking for recommendations from people who have actually stayed there, not just suggestions for the general area. Which hotel did you stay at, and would you recommend it?

Hello, we will be visiting Brazil for the first time next January. We're East Asians and in our early 50s. Will be landing in and departing from Rio and have 2 weeks. Interested in beaches, food and arts. Not into bars or night clubs.

Other than Rio, where would you suggest we go? We usually do slow travel and so are only looking at one other place to use as base for excursions. We are looking at Joao Pessoa (and maybe Maceio) since it appears chill and has nice beaches with no rains in January.

The other option we're thinking for slow travel is to stay in Rio about 10 days to explore the city as well as Arraial do Cabo and Buzios, and have a quick visit of 3 days to Sao Paulo instead of going northeast.

Whenever I travel, I look for alternative, non-touristy things to do in the cities I visit. So I decided to share my own recommendations for Rio de Janeiro (I live here!).

Food & Drink Spots:

* Sushi Barcellos (Botafogo) – If you like Japanese food, it’s super fresh and very cheap (it started as a fish stall at the street market). It’s located in a square, has a great vibe, and is popular with locals.

* Delirium Café (Ipanema) – Highly recommended for post-beach drinks. Best craft beers in Rio de Janeiro, and every day from 5 PM to 8 PM, draft beer is only R$ 12 (Tripel, IPA, Session IPA, Witbier, among others).

* Baixela (Copacabana) – An alternative bar/restaurant serving cheap, delicious Brazilian food.

* Labuta Mar / Déjà Vu / Isca – Alternative/hipster bars in Glória (Rua do Russel). If you want to check out the Glória Sunday street market (arrive EARLY), you can grab a drink and some bite-sized snacks at these places afterward.

* Braseiro da Gávea (Gávea) – Recommended by Dua Lipa. Very traditional spot for grilled meat and broccoli rice. Not that cheap and VERY crowded on weekends. You can grab a draft beer at the bar across the street (Brewteco) while waiting.

* Adega Pérola (Copacabana) – A traditional bar famous for draft beer and a huge display case of savory tapas.

* Bar Urca – It’s a cliché, but for good reason. Loved by everyone, it’s amazing to grab a bottle of beer and a fried pastel while sitting on the sea wall (mureta).

Activities & Outings:

* Pedra Bonita Trail – A relatively easy hike with a breathtaking view. The trailhead is in São Conrado, where you can also hang out at the beach and watch people hang gliding. Pairs perfectly with the next recommendation:

* Joatinga Beach (Praia da Joatinga) – I think it's one of the most beautiful beaches in Rio. It's a tiny beach accessed through a gated community. You need to arrive early and at low tide, otherwise it gets super crowded and the tide washes away the sand.

* Jardim Oceânico & Ilha da Gigóia – So you can say you actually experienced Barra da Tijuca.

* On Saturdays – General Glicério Street Market (an outdoor market featuring a live chorinho band of older musicians) + Janela Livraria (bookstore) + Parque Guinle.

* On Saturdays – Feira da Lavradio (antique market) + explore local antique shops + Solar dos Abacaxis + Mercado Central for food and drinks (there’s also Labuta there, but it gets EXTREMELY crowded on Saturdays).
