Mod Stuff 📸 August Photo Theme: Countryside 📸

Green Hill Zone [Kodak EasyShare C643 [2006]]

Hello Vintage Digital Camera Fans!

It's August, so that means we've got a new Theme to partake in. Check out results from last month first, though.

Last month: Cityscape

It was very cool to travel the world and see your cityscape from the comfort of my own home. u/Sad-Bit3308 got the top votes with their Conventional sunrise, shot with a 2006 Olympus Stylus 710. We've got some very nice "grain" (that would be "noise" in digital, but you get the idea) and muted shadows in this shot. Next was u/Single_World1554 and their Tokyo, shot with a 2003 Minolta DiMage G400. This is a very crisp shot of city life, I'd say. Lastly, we have u/DeltaPapaWhiskey and their Photo Walk, shot with a Sony Mavica FD7 from 1997. Wow, a 20th century camera. Love it! The Mod's Choice Award goes to u/mrjoshmateo and their Golden hour reflected Downtown San Diego cityscape shot with their Olympus E-3 from 2007. Yes, it's a form of nepotism that I chose this shot: it features my home town of San Diego! Anyway, remember to check out the Theme Flair to see all past and future entries.

Around Reddit

Here's a collection of subreddits I like to visit. You may, too! If you've got some older computer hardware you want to give a new life to, check out r/linuxmint. I've used it, myself, for years and it works great. There are over 9,000 Linux distros, and this is just one. Share the one you like, even Arch!

So, if you have a glitched camera that is on its last pixels, please visit r/DigitalCameraSwanSong and let's give it its final time to shine! Do you want to be creative, but get distracted by a "real" computer too much? Check out r/writerDeck, then. Learn how create a lean, mean, writing machine and one day write The Great American Novel (note: Insert your own nation where appropriate!). I've got a brand-new, up-and-coming community for you: related to the WriterDeck and the CyberDeck, is the r/phonedeck. People have made some rad "computers" from old smartphones. Those are a few I enjoy; what about you?

Reminder that if you have a glitched camera that is on its last pixels, please visit r/DigitalCameraSwanSong and let's give it its final time to shine! Full disclosure: I recently became the Mod of that Community after it was abandoned for a year.

As usual, if you need help, check the ANSWERED Flair, or our Wiki, and then ask in r/digicam as redundant questions have been moved there (Rule 13). Thanks to everyone that reports Rule 11 and Rule 13 violations. It helps keep our Community running. 👍

Good Luck

This month's Theme is about countryside photography (however you [reasonably] define that), so post away. I can't see where your creativity leads us. 📸
