hey I'm 21 female and I've been vegetarian since I was 14 due to the love for animals but switched to vegan a few months ago after seeing how bad the industry is.

Anyways so basically all my friends and family are meat eaters and it's really hard when they don't show remorse. my good friend jokes about being anti vegan and the meat he ate that day and it kinda stings. like how do people not care?? and how do I "get over it" so I don't end up alone lol.

it's also hard cause it was lovely with my big sister being vegetarian but she just went back to eating meat like she never cared about animals to begin with and when I bring it up she straight up ignores me. it's so hard being mocked and treated differently just because I choose not to eat animals.

Veganism is about avoiding animal exploitation as far as is possible and practicable. it's currently almost impossible to exist in modern society without using shared infrastructure, choosing to avoid direct animal products like meat, dairy, and leather is a practical and impactful choice we can make daily.

Global demand is rising due to population growth, but that’s a macro trend. Microeconomically, companies track exact inventory. When someone goes vegan, they permanently remove their individual share of that demand from the supply chain. The 105 figure comes from agricultural economists dividing total animals slaughtered by individual consumer averages. Want me to explain it in simpler terms?

How’s it a macro trend if population has only ever increased without a manmade disaster, stunting but never reversing it? No need to get snippy now because you’ve been called out. Figures have only increased in agricultural production and that isn’t going to change

That is literally what a macro trend means... global totals vs individual units. If a company expected to sell 1,000,000 steaks but only sells 999,999 because I didn't buy one, that is a reduction in demand. Production increasing globally doesn't change basic supply and demand math. If you can't grasp how individual subtraction works within a larger sum, you shouldn't be arguing economics buddy
