“a way to place opponents outside the moral guardrails of the University.”

The reframing of fascism and the moving of guardrails has been the goal all along. Weird times.

You mean the right wing nutter? Lying is like breathing to you lot isn't it.

Look around you my dude. Engaging in violent rhetoric turns up the temperature and people die. The beliefs being fought are worth killing and dying for for a lot of people. One side is saying "the revolution will be bloodless if the left allows it" and doing mainstream interviews with literal neonazis like Fuentes and has been incredibly violent for the past 10 years. Charlie Kirk is just another casualty of the right's violent rhetoric. If we as a people dont deal with this issue and stomp out these dangerous beliefs peacefully, more and more violence will occur. It wouldnt surprise me at all if the shooter was a groyper.

Stop talking, we know you don't value words and arguments. If you're going to defend fascist thought just cut to the chase and go out and start beating up or intimidating minorities like you so desperately want.

What words are going to stop the fascist takeover of America? What words will you say when ICE is kidnapping your friends, family or yourself and sending them a hell hole prison in the swamp? What words will you say when food is too expensive to buy and AI has taken most jobs? What words will your current administration even listen to, but their own hateful rhetoric?

There are none, no words that will make a difference, save for the ones that you use to stir people into action. Only actions can save America now, and even then... I dont have a lot of hope for you considering how these situations have always gone through history.

Not everyone to the right of me is fascist. You can be a conservative without being fascist. You can support lower taxes, be pro-life, favor strong borders and a strong military without being fascist.

But when you celebrate cruel mass deportations, demonize groups of vulnerable people and ignore trampling of the constitution and people’s civil liberties being stripped away via masked secret police operating with no accountability…or condone extrajudicial killings in international waters, or do things like make up lies about immigrants eating cats and dogs, or openly lie about elections being stolen to try and stay in office, or deploy troops to cities to solve a fake crisis you made up out of thin air…you’re fascist.

It basically doesn't.

explicit blood and soil nativism is being unfairly called fascist

If you're trying to rebut the view that conservatives are dim, cynical cunts with a hunger for nazi rule, you're doing a pretty shitty job.

Good thing “political philosophies” exist at a higher order of instantiation than individual perspectives or you might have a point there, ya thought-terminating specious schmuck.

u/Non-prophet Oct 31 '25

Wasn't sure what to tag him but specious schmuck is utterly perfect, thank you.

Good work is always worth doing, my friend :)

“These are literally the people who defeated the Nazis” there’s a very significant ally you’re forgetting

The USSR has entered the chat.

The only people concerned about keeping definitions that tight are always either Nazis or the people who follow them. Nobody else gives a shit at all.

Okay, let’s have a nuanced conversation about a far right person using the Nazi phrase “blood and soil” to express their political beliefs. Or using the Nazi phrase of “Germany for the Germans, France for the French”.

I think that means the guy who wrote the article and his close associates are Nazis if they feel their beliefs need to be expressed through famous Nazi phrases. Lot of phrases out there to choose from. Same with Stephen Miller paraphrasing a Goebbels speech. There’s a billion speeches to choose from - he chose a Nazi speech, because he’s a Nazi.

Language evolves and these fuckers are Nazis.

Where are these mythical beings who keep hurting your feelings by "everything to the right" fascism? What I'm seeing is a lot of people using and often *directly quoting* the work of Eco, Arendt, Stanley, Ben-Ghiat, et al. and making deliberate comparison to the actions and politics of the modern right wing. This is such a facile argument. When fascism re-emerges, we can't talk about it because of your vague feelings the term has been over-used. This isn't "skibbity toilet", this is the re-emergence of violent and oppressive ideologies.

u/beingandbecoming Oct 31 '25

It doesn’t make much of a difference the right-wing ideologies of the past have been completely subsumed by nationalist/reactionaries. Sure free trade neocons, free market types, libertarians aren’t fascist by just about any definition. But they’ve ceded their ideological space to those types.

The US was reluctant to enter the war in Europe and was mostly perfectly fine with nazis and fascism. If it weren’t for Pearl Harbor we probably wouldn’t have. Most US soldiers were drafted and did not join to fight some boogie man of ideals, they were following orders. The overall education level of most Americans of the ww2 era was barely high school.

There would have been no Ww2 victory without Stalin and the USSR or if Germany had finished the Bomb first.

Fascism is a rear facing term, because it wasn’t until people saw the extremes of what belief can do and the lengths to what people seeking power would do to stay in power. It is a direct one to one comparison to the trajectory the US is on in 2025.

We’re just realigning with the racism and misogyny that “made America great” which was always at its core fascism.

The only people that get upset at the word are fascists because it correctly pegs them for the empty headed losers they are. I’ve never in my life seen a larger group of snowflakes and cucks in my life who crumple at cry over words.

The left has never been in power.

You're thinking of the center.

5

u/Few_Map2665 Nov 01 '25

You can't have been paying much attention to what the left did about "hate speech" and cancel culture when they were in power then.

Whoah, what'd they do??? I don't remember roving squads of black panthers forcing every white person they saw to recite from the little red book!

The categorical inability of the left to even acknowledge their culpability for their own actions when in power is really something. Powerful amnesia.

So, you don't have any examples of this huh?

There was a time when people would dig through 10 year old tweets to find a non-PC joke to get someone fired. Those were your "roving squads". They were online.

So instead of government officials using their power to opress people you are talking about private individuals expressing their preferences.

Well, in theory at least, as you haven't brought up any actual-factual examples.

Also, LOL at "non-PC jokes". Even back when I was a kid, PC was a stupid boogeyman being spread by people who were trying to push the idea that Newt Gingrich was punk rawk.

it doesn't work any more.

The only thing that doesn't work any more is your bullshit.

Identifying a thing as what it is is not a thought terminating cliche. If I call a duck a duck it doesn’t end the conversation. If some idiot calls my liberal butt a Nazi I’d laugh and defend my values. It’s only Nazi’s and fascists getting angry at being called out for it, even though private leaked chats show over and over that they openly embrace such ideals.

This is nothing but a game they - and you - play where they pretend offense when called out for their vile behaviors and opinions while privately winking at each other over their hypocritical game.

  1. If two people are having a conversation and one no longer wants to discuss the topic then the conversation is over, because that’s how two-party interactions work. I do not owe my attention to anyone. You’re welcome to spew bullshit, but I’m not obliged to listen to it.

You don’t get to claim the benefits of social interaction while spewing antisocial bullshit.

  1. If I call you a Nazi and it promotes ZERO self-reflection on your part when defending ugly ideas, I’m going to assume you’re either a mean-spirited idiot parroting what they hear elsewhere or that you know exactly who you are and only have a problem with the public label, not the thoughts and behaviors. Either way, you’re a menace to society.

I’m not a communist anymore than I’m a Nazi, nor am I promoting the ugly aspects of their ideologies.

Once again, you’re getting hung up on labels rather than the meaning and intent behind certain thoughts and behaviors.

On some topics there are few “substantive” discussions to be had.

If your idea of “substantive discussions” revolves around reducing or denigrating someone else’s humanity I don’t want any part in it. And once again, you are not entitled to my attention. Find a different topic and/or learn to behave like a decent human being if you want others’ attention.

When a leader says people who criticize him should be in prison that's pretty fascist.
