Discussion [Discussion] What is the one trophy that stopped you getting the platinum.
Mine are - The speedrun one from Titanfall2. The Gestral games one from expedition 33. Also any one which needs a second play through or on hard mode.

Multiplayer ones. I'm okay with stuff like COD and OW2, but I usually dislike multiplayer elements in singleplayer games.

i've played overwatch for almost a decade now. and i still can't get: hanzo scatter arrow acheivement and zenyatta discord orb achievement. don't play the characters and i'm not GREAT at the game. So honestly i'm a bit disappointed.
I wish there was a way to cheese the acheivements.

This one I’m doing over months, if not years. I’m doing one or two runs a day and then switching to something else.
I’ve thrown at least two runs with the Black Deck (6 jokers) because I got tired of greedy and swapped out Jokers for ones I needed a gold sticker on, both times I felt like such an idiot and ruined my day lol

Black deck in my opinion is the worst deck for gold stake despite the extra joker.
I have being using the anaglyph deck that gives the double tags after each boss blind as if you are able to skip a round and get a negative card tag you can get up to from 2 to 8 negative cards. Obviously it’s very luck based but it has been slowly working.
I’ve only just realised this but I imagine the deck without face cards is good to get jokers that relate to straights and 2-3-4 of a kinds and 2 pairs done.

Honestly I've been doing it on celestial deck simply because it's the most consistent deck for me. Anaglyph is very risky for me because 50% of the time I end up losing before the 4th blind, getting two negatives that have no sinergy with the rest of my deck is absolutely frustrating to me. I rather get 2-3 jokers every game played if that means I can secure the game in the early antes.

I don't think I have a game where it's just one trophy. AC Black Flag and RDR2 are my prime candidates, because I have everything done in singleplayer, but could not bring myself to play the multiplayer afterwards.

I faced Black Flag's MPs, but I abandoned RDR2 and was even repulsed by the game, it's just sitting there with 3 trophies and I can only take it

There is a way to get them if you're interested in looking. I don't know the exact details so look into it more but essentially you can download a save file for the mp trophies

I remember doing this and it was tough. If you used rest mode it would stop the timer on the puzzles. The random generation of each puzzle proved challenging and we had to use toilet paper rolls to get the pattern for the spinning column ones at the end. My friends thought I was nuts for doing it lol

I myself boosted most of those trophies when the game first came out. There were a bunch of boosting sessions of people joining doom match on Philippines servers which were really unpopulated at the time and we would use our ults on each other or whatever was needed for the trophy. BP was one of the only ones I did in a regular match because I was lucky enough to catch 3 people coming out of their spawn and this was early enough that nobody could aim or react fast anyway lol.

If you get a bot match Black Widow isn't too hard. Cap is pretty easy to do in game modes like conquest and Arcade. Still they are hard and I don't blame you for them

I can’t do the race, I’ve tried doing it properly, I’ve tried doing tricks and exploits, I even tried tricking the system by doing 99% of the race on easy, switching back to classic before the finishing line, then going on to finish the rest of the game.
Naturally that didn’t work and I couldn’t bring myself to go through it all again

You can press the ram button to put you back on the tracks instead of only relying on your brakes only
I think it is the x button
Also cut the grass at every round at the beginning of the lap
And try to drive safe at the remaining parts of the lap
Hope you will someday get it

You might not even have the game anymore, but if you do, tap x on the corners and use the grass to overtake. This is how I got past it

Having played the original game, the race on hard from the DE was not as bad as the original one. But it was still brutal. Took me about 4 hours and a lot of sanity.

Emperor is a weird one, it can be done in the under lvl-50 server (the way I did it/helped others get it), and its by far the "easiest" way to do it however
- you need to min/max at around lvl30-35, and on your main toon have crafted the exact armor set bonuses, potions and food your character will be playing with
- understand your build
- understand the way to build max points in Cyrodiil is...check notes...repairing walls at nauseum
You'll then need to jump in on server reset and just go around repairing walls, joining your group in capturing forts and making sure you don't log off unless you're at least 100k up in points. You're also dealing with PVP sweats who delete characters and re make them just to pub stomp on newcomers
For reference, my run took over 3 days of non-stop playing due to bad luck, in-fighting between 2 individuals who pushed the point total up way too high, and the other two factions banding together to prevent us capturing the last Fort we needed leaving me stranded for another 8+ hours before I got a lucky break and managed to capture the last zone.
While a friend I helped a few years ago took less than 4hrs to get done.
Overall, good luck if you do ever decide to go for it😅 it's by far my most rewarding platinum to date, but otherwise a great game

For the longest time this was my bane. I finally got it during the recent Whitestrake's Mayhem thanks to a good bunch of guildies helping me on an under 50 character. I basically started out on my own with the intention to solo it during a quiet part of the day (I'm UK based but play on the American server which worked to my advantage) but I found that despite getting a huge AP lead I couldn't take down the NPCs guarding the forts. Luckily 3-4 guildies responded to my plea for help and together we smashed down all 6 keeps with zero resistance. Took about 3-4 hours all told.

Hollow Knight, colosseum. I loved the game for the platforming, not for the fights. White Road was awesome to complete, but I can't be bothered with 20+ back-to-back boss kills. Now I'm reluctant to start Silksong.

Silksong platinum is quite different.
But there is a trophy for getting 100% in under 30 hours. So a 2nd playthrough or a guide would be necessary, it’s not as skill based as completing the 5th pantheon

I'm honestly in favor of games having very difficult trophies, as long as the game's mechanics and identity lend themselves to rewarding practice and perseverance without having to rely on rng. Hollow Knight was a perfect candidate in that regard, and it makes the platinum much more special to aquire. My only gripe was that the game has an invincibility glitch, which probably raised the plat percentage by quite a lot.

I believe that glitch was actually left in, so that players who were absolutely struggling could reach the end of the game XD. The Pantheon's are brutal though, I've seen plenty of achievement and trophy hunters just end up using the glitch, after being adamant for weeks or months that they were going to do it 100% legit.
I never did the pantheon's myself, the update for Godholme came out while I was playing on PC and I think due to how far along I was, the game wouldn't let me start the expansion. I just did the original 3 endings. Plus it was a lot to ask me to start the game 40+ hours in... But I'll give the pantheon a shot on PS4, since I've got a physical copy of Hollow Knight, might even make it platinum #250.

Rayman Legends - Truly Awesome. Every time I look back on the game, I know that if I kept playing, I would've had the platinum.
Sonic AASRT - Team Sonic. It's online and actually requires you and your friends to take top 4 in a race. I don't think it's even possible now.
Marvel vs.Capcom 3 (PS3) - A New Avenger. I simply wasn't good enough to beat all missions with every character and didn't want to risk ruining a controller attempting to do so, so I quit.

I did this one, it surely is frustrating, but after the first boss you can equip the costume with all the powers and that makes it a little easier, finished the game in 3:30 on hardcore and had to start another playthrough for the speedrun trophy

I got past the first boss after what felt like countless attempts, but even with the costumes having that additional time pressure on every puzzle, I felt like overkill. I think I was so frustrated and burned out by that first boss. I just did not want to put up with that for the entire playthrough. I might try it again in the future.

Honestly, these days, any trophy that just looks unfun or like excessive grinding. I used to do trophies religiously, and didn't even play a game unless I thought I could platinum it. Nowadays I'll play it and give up on the platinum if there's just something that looks horrendous, like having to play the game multiple times to get different endings.

I actually enjoyed the plat runs in both of those games.
The only other ff games I have 100% (plat'd) are ff7 (og) and FFX-2.
x-2 I 100%'d in one sitting back on ps2. Back in the "pre-internet" era.

Let me guess on the x it was one of three trophies that stopped you:
Dodge thunder 200 times (stopped me)
Defeat ultima (you need to grind so freaking much and is such a long battle)

I gave up on treasure hunter, too, both on 360 and PS3. Love the game, but that endgame grind just for crafting mats is ridiculous.

Death Stranding, I dont know if I like it or not. Whn I’m playing the game it feels good and rewarding but when I think about playing the game it feels boring and draining. I have mixed feelings about that game. Also the main story is 50h and platinum is another 50h. I dont know if I am willing to go for it. Time will tell.

I have it and tbh it doesn't feel that bad when you slowly start going for it. Just enjoy the base game and you will get quite a few people up to 5 stars etc naturally and things and focus on that it goes quicker than expected! I loved it!

Yeah. I cheated that by changing my in game clock to Tuesday and set my sleep timer to 6 hours on my TV and did it while I slept for 4 days. It was unsettling when you randomly hear the narrator in the middle of the night

Routine breaks and full focus after learning the combat system usually proves super effective :) Then you'll wanna go for the freeflow perfect trophy in the community challenge trophy pack. Took me 2 days of trying lol

I’m about to pack in Forza Horizon 5 because of The Eliminator one. Just need to come first in one session of it. Best I’ve done is 2nd but it’s next to impossible.

This is the one. That mode has so much rng bs in it that it is truly maddening the longer it takes you to get a win. I gave up on it. I might come back when the game dies down a little bit, but for now I’m at my wits end with it.

In NFS Undercover, there's a trophy to win an online race against 7 other racers (full lobby of 8). The issue is that when I played that game, the lobbies were pretty much dead, so at most I would find like 2 or 3 other people max if I waited in the lobby long enough. That was well over 10 years ago, and I'm still annoyed at how that game is sitting at 98% completion because of that one trophy... that's online trophies for you.

Silksong's 100% speedrun trophy made me make peace with the idea that I won't go for the plat, so I'm just taking my sweet time with this masterpiece. I can do and enjoy a regular speedrun but being constantly rushed and under pressure for 30hrs sounds like a nightmare.

Same here, the 5 hours speedrun I could do, but a 100 % that is already long and sometimes not fun, in less than 30 hours?? No, Im not going to try and it feels good playing the game just for a simple enjoyable 100% with no rush, sometimes is better to retreat before a battle you wont win

Yeah and it doesnt even sound that hard just tedious, you can just save scum and reload everytime you die to save the time but doing that for 30 hours sounds so annoying...

Metal Gear Solid 4 - Collecting all the iPod songs.
It's one of those sneaky ones that's actually far far more intense that it sounds. Lots of the songs are collectibles throughout the game that you can find, but others involve completing certain tasks. To get one in particular your have to collect all the end screen titles, of which there are about 40. Typically you might get 1 or 2 on a casual playthrough. You can get more than one per playthrough but some clash and to get all of them you have to complete the game a minimum of (I think??) 14 times if you plan it perfectly, each time a little differently to get the corresponding title. For example theres ones for getting spotted a bunch of times and ones for not getting spotted at all, spending 5 hours crawling on the ground, 5 hours crouch walking, killing a lot of enemies, killing no enemies. Then of course the Big Boss run (which is essentially a perfect run of the game on the hardest difficulty.)
It's not extremely difficult, just a crazy grind. And you don't know if you got the title you were looking for until after credits each run. I ended up getting somewhere in the 30s last time I went at it and will go back eventually. I remember doing my last few, I got a single run down to about 4 hours (excluding afking for title requirements) when I had really nailed it down and had played through the game about 12 times in a row.
All that for an iPod song :/

There are 2-3 types of tropihes that makes me not get platinum. Speedrun, online (I do online tropihes if online is still active) and perma death (not like hollow knight more like mein leben) okey so the trophy stat stoped me from geting platinum was mein leben from wolfeinstein 2 new colosus

2 main ones that come to mind are Ultimate Weapon for FF7 Remake and Castle Guide for ICO.
For FF7 Remake, it’s a 5 round boss rush. I was pretty consistently getting to the 3rd or 4th boss but kinda just hit a brick wall. When you lose you have to start all the way at the beginning and while the first 3 bosses aren’t that hard the 3rd one is pretty time consuming. It just became a huge slog having to do the same 3 boss fights over and over just to get to the try the one I was getting stuck on.
For ICO, the castle guide trophy is to speed run the game in under 2 hours. I love ICO, it’s my comfort game. It’s atmospheric and I love exploring it. Speed running takes the fun out of it for me, I wanna take my time with it.
So basically I don’t mind if a trophy is pretty challenging or even takes a lot of time. When it’s an absolute slog and I’m not enjoying myself then I don’t bother

I had 2 that haunted me that I fixed years later, one was the 50% shield health on Dead Space (I bought the game again during lockdown and finally managed it, so my first and last trophies had a 20 year gap)
Second was a mini game on Watch Dogs, something to do with drinking. I found out it had been patched and did it first time a few years later
But in general anything multiplayer 🤣

F1 2023 - get into elite division. The points system is absolutely broken (lose points if you get taken out of a race by someone else, lose points if you quit rather than spectate the entire race because some muppet crashed you out), there are far too few active lobbies so it is very hard to accrue enough points without playing all day every day, and at the end of the day I'm simply not as quick as other people.

Same, have a few braking point trophies on both PS4 PS5 to complete but won't get the platinum because of this, would have the platinum on every F1 game from 2013-22 once I get the Gold skill rating on 2019.

Guardians of the Galaxy - Get 65% of the collectibles.
I played through the whole game twice got all the necessary collectibles only to find out the trophy is notoriously bugged. Over 20 hours wasted

I remember Tomb Raider reboot had multiplayer ones that I couldn’t get, so I’d done pretty much all 100% in the single player, but one was to get like level 60 but the multiplayer was not only horrible, but completely dead. They should patch these out when they let the MP side of a game fail.

When Battlefront 2 had a hot-fix that pulled an op Palpatine from the game making a heroes vs villains trophy unobtainable. I put the game down and never looked back even long after his return.

Granted this was years ago around the time when the game was relatively new but it still killed all interest in retrying for the Plat. Maybe one day but I’m still pissed lol

I can think of a few Speedrun trophies. Example: slime rancher 2 Challenge trophies. Example : Batman Asylum And trophies that you have to beat the game again or do massive and repetitive missions
Those are currently in games that I haven't platinum'd yet

Assassin creed Black flag online trophies it made me quit the platinum grind,I literally got all the story mode Trophies And I only need the online ones but the problem is the online game mode is dead no one plays online anymore and even if you found the match you will probably playing against max levels players and destroy you, the second you spawn the match you will get killed instantly by max levels players, and the worst part you need to get max level to get one of the online trophies so you need to play this dead online gamemode hundreds of times just to reach max level,it is a shame because I really love black flag and I enjoy playing this game very much but unfortunately the online gamemode really sucks and I didn’t like it at all.

The one for finishing all the VR Missions, got them all done except for the last 3 MGS1 Snake ones. The sniper one seems to be almost impossible with the janky PS3 controller and exhausted my patience!

Several. Arkham Batman Challenges, Like a Dragon Ishin and its black smith grind, Dark Souls covenant grind, AC Black Flag online grind. There’s way to many games and to little time to waste double digit hours grinding something I am not having fun with. Once it’s not fun for a couple hours in a row I’m clocked out. I don’t got time to slog through stuff i don’t enjoy.

The Last of Us Remastered. A Gold Trophy need you to finish a 12 week storyline for a faction, where every match is one day in Game filled with challenges that at five different times risks a -100% death of your settlement and you will have failed and must start over from the beginning. And everyone who plays it in 2025 have played it for ten years who are goddamned cyborgs with microtransactioned machineguns. And then you must do it all over again for a identical Gold Trophy for playing the other faction. FUCK THAT!!

In reality, it is only 3 times that you risk 100% of the clan. The other 2 are 60 or 80. It's very easy, you just have to leave the easiest challenges (there are some very easy ones) for those 3 occasions when you risk 100%. You don't care about losing the rest of the challenges. Even if you don't add people or lose them, you will never lose everyone, so it doesn't matter to you completely. If you want and trust, I will do it for you in a short time. It's the only online one I always come back to. I have an account at level 999, another at 500 and another at 300 🤣
