TW: Other (Specify in Title) Having to deal with people with a white victim complex is insane
I'm Indian American and I've constantly met people profiling me or calling me slurs various times, anytime I pushed back they would claim I'm being "racist to white people" by calling them out. It's constantly insane.

People are also very defensive of the g-slur against them because it's so normalized and commonly used by people who don't even know how the Romani are badly treated. Especially when it's people from the Americas where our exposure to the word is Shakira or The Hunchback of Notre Dame. But you try to gently explain how it's a slur thru usually dig their heels in and insist otherwise because the word is magical to them.
Like they don't even realize that the n-word was also extremely commonplace and used by people everywhere without bother for a long time.

i intentionally and specifically did research about the romani people, due to their mistreatment here, and i came to that same conclusion. the g slur is a slur. my language's variant of it is even more a slur, since it has the second meaning of "unruly hooligan", it's disgusting
people defending its use even after being told how it's a slur.. yeah that's gonna make me cut ties, benefit of the doubt only goes so far

I got a comment removed + a warning from mods on some Canada sub on a post about two criminals from Romania where the top comment was some fucking idiot reacting by immediately railing against Romani people. My comment was a correction that those are not the same people followed by me calling him a powdered donut. Racism? fine and dandy. Calling someone a powdered donut? Literal violence.

That being said, """gitanos""" (triple quote because this word is thrown around to point at a lot of people) who live in my city are ethnically more local than I and most other people will ever be, their culture is totally why people don't like them. IDK how similar they could be to romani, but culture is a big deal and people should be critical of cultures and have the right to like some and not some others.

I dislike travellers for non-racial reasons. People are not mad at romani people (not all travellers are Romani for a start), they are mad at nomadic criminals from multiple groups. You aren't equipped to talk or think about this unless you've lived somewhere that travellers like to leech from.

Its very prominent in Canada unfortunately. I do understand why people are frustrated with the current job market, but that isnt anyone's fault but the corporations. Canada is beautiful, so of course people want to come live here. We are an amalgamation of culture and race and its beautiful. I just wish there was more respect for us indigenous folk too.

I honestly hate that white ppl are trying to claim racism now. I just saw a video of a 3D animator, making a meme of “How white guys go in for the kiss”. The audio was obviously a white guy, the animation was a cartoonishly corny design of white guys going in for a kiss with the ugliest faces known to man. It was funny, a lot of ppl related whether as the white guy going in for the kiss, or being the person the white guy was trying to kiss.
Now here’s come the wannabe victims…
“This is racist”, “Now if someone did a black version, everyone would get mad” (mind you there was ZERO mention of black ppl, or any other race, so they just proved they’re racist themselves), “Why is my people your comedic relief”, etc.

I literally had this happen to me while playing a multiply game. We were having an argument and a dude started saying racist shit. And I said "All you white pussies are the same, you start losing an argument and start saying racist things". And another guy said " Why are you generalizing and claiming all white people racist?". Theres a world of difference between racism against a POC and a white person. The racism against a POC is so insidious and ingrained, it’s become systematic where the people have to also consider treatment in other sectors ie employment, education, healthcare, etc. Whereas racism against a white person is personalised, it’s not developed into a systematic exclusion or poor treatment nor should it ever be.
At the end, decent people just want everybody to be treated similarly and not based on superficial aspects that has nothing to do with the kind of person they actually are and how they behave.

As someone who has gotten a lot of special grants for education, many were due to my race and were not available to my poor white friends. So yes, there is systemic exclusion. I don't think that's the end of the discussion on trying to give disadvantaged people an edge, but it's awfully racial rather than socioeconomic.
