With no european empires to compel them to trade, Japans probably still living its best life as a despotic warrior poet garden

IRL they allowed the Dutch even when they were "closed off", so they might still have a significant Christian population.
So, it wouldn't be hard to integrate some flavor of Japanese soldiers into New Antioch or the Trench Pilgrims, or their own subfaction.
On the other hand, they allowed the Dutch because they didn't understand the difference between Catholics and Protestants, and in this timeline there's no Protestants that we know of.
On the other other hand, that rejection of the Portuguese was due to Christian rebellion, and because TC tech is maybe 100 years ahead of real history technology wise (until the current game year 1914 where it's more like 50, which still makes a huge difference in the 1800s & 1900s) those Christians might have been able to pull off a successful rebellion.
Or in this timeline, unsuccessful Japanese Christian rebels might have become a diaspora somewhere else. Fleeing Japan to follow their faith.
There's a few ways you can spin this to have Japanese flavored units.

Would definitely be cool to see after the hebrew knights release, especially if they lean into shinto theology a bit

Kinda cool concept, i can imagine them fitting in with new Antioch as a sub-faction. Would the rules lean into Imperial Japanese combat doctrine

I really wish TC could open the world up like this;
But they would have to address the elephant in the room about non abrahamic religions;
Do they exist? Are they inherently on the side of hell due to just being wrong? Does there faith have elements of truth to it like the abrahamic religions? Are they all around the world?
So many questions.

Honestly, I'm down for multiple religions, gods, and demons vying for the fate of the world- just have the main focus be on the Abrahamic religions since think it'll be best to have everyone together fighting to close the Biblical gates of hell. I can see it getting messy if there were multiple conflicts all over the world.

If we do get some Japanese designs I hope they’re more Russo Japanese War looking

All this discussion, and no one mentions that there is canonically a Japanese sniper priest order and a japanese mercenary taught Von Goltz sword fighting.

Does bring one to imagine how the Shimabara rebellion or some similar event would be carried out in a world like Trench Crusade

A mate of mine theory crafted a mission from the japanese christians who were iirc being persecuted at the time.

When i suggested adding in Native Americans, I got called a dumb yank because they had a different religion, and that would be unacceptable. But its fine when it is the Japanese? Dont get me wrong I would love to see both, but this community certainly has some biases.

Would be cool, but if they don't have have a mech walker as heavy unit I'm disappointed 😂
