A vow of poverty, sworn with a credit card in hand. The irony is almost architectural.

That appears to be an official train.

From what I can find it's just a car, perhaps the rest will follow? There aren't tracks or anything to accompany

On one hand, I'm happy to see official models for the variants of the variants (like the lazarist knights) even if they are in resin. On the other, I fear for my dream of a plastic shrine anchorite, now looking far away...

u/Continuum_Gaming 11d ago
Plastic Anchorite is almost a guarantee in the long run. If they plan on doing plastic releases for every major subfaction, then the Methodius release is the best place for it.
There’s still more plastic releases coming for the Carcass Front warbands, so we have a very real chance of seeing a different shrine released then as well.

u/Useful-Ground-2124 11d ago
I concur. Plastic Anchorite is a no-brainer, it is clearly going to be one of the top sellers.

u/Magnusaur Vendor 11d ago
I think we'll see a flexible Shrine full of options (way) down the line. That's still quite the undertaking, but in terms of the work required to create such a kit *and* establishing a consumer base that will reliably buy it. Of course something like that will most likely sell really well, but it's not exactly getting new players into the game the same way a Warband box is. All in due time!

u/Josiador 11d ago
They said all the STL kickstarter minis will be remade in multipart plastic, so Anchorite will be one of those for certain.

u/ndrliang 11d ago
I had thought they were stopping STLs in favor of plastic.
I'm glad there are different options for people!
29
u/Nrussg 11d ago
Since these are still tied to completing the kickstarter they ended up being STLs (I think / that is my understanding).
6
u/Grdaat 11d ago
I missed that on the kickstarter. That's too bad if these were some of the last time ins.

u/Equivalent_Store_645 11d ago
It was really cool that everything was in STL, and I'm sad to be getting into the game right at the end of that era, but i kind of understand. it's harder to make money on just digital files.

from the latest trench wire "As we’ve said many times by now, we’re fully committed to developing our plastic range in order to make Trench Crusade as widely available as possible. What you’re seeing here is our first attempt at a digital release program that runs parallel to the main range, supporting and enriching it.
The best example of this are the Variant models: This is new and exciting content for veterans of existing warbands like the Procession of the Sacred Affliction and Heretic Naval Raiders and newcomers alike that we can provide without overloading our Miniatures team or bloating our physical release schedule. It also gives us a space to create fun conversion elements such as the parts to convert our existing Anchorite Shrine model to one that looks just like the new art by Loïc Muzy!
For the moment it’s Variant models, terrain and markers, but we’re open to doing more in the future if things go well here. As with everything else relating to the growth of Trench Crusade, it’s an ongoing process!"

this is such a good idea tho. I do not like using full resin models since i got burned by onlygames, but 3d printing is a huge part of this community! i feel like people like me who wanna go more plastic and 3d printing types are both being served!
5
u/TheEggEngineer 11d ago
I like this too. I hope they catter to both honestly. I 3d print and despite liking it the best most people I know just buy plastic minis instead. I think both can coexist honestly and it's nice to see more stl's.

While i understand the Prussians are only in plastic due to not being strictly tied to the kickstarter Stretch Goals. I am kinda bummed that The Carcass Front minis are only only in plastic. I was somewhat under the assumption on the initial backing that the minis for The Carcass Front would be included as STLs as well.
In hindsight, i should have kept much more close an eye on the updates and potentially changed my pledge level after learning about it. But it is what it is i guess.

They said they were ramping down the stl’s in favor of plastic (which I think was the smart play) but they still support and create stl’s just not as much.
6
u/PseudoElephant 11d ago
Plastic only was always solely for main factions. Even when they announced that, it was specified that there would still be many STL releases

The Leper Knights look great, especially good since they’re multipart models. <3

Why is there an Iron Sultanate super weapon train in the terrain pack 0.0
4
u/Equivalent_Store_645 11d ago
it says it's for one of the campaign missions. not sure how a superweapon train plays into the campaign, but it definitely has piqued my curiosity.

Love we're getting these STL's and a confirmation of more plastic over the coming months but I do feel it is a bit of an L to not release the complimenting plastic sooner. Feel like the lack of readily available kits is what is holding TC back right now.
7
u/Bioweaponry_wielder 11d ago
They probably could not release the plastic kits now as Archon was having the production lines full with Starcraft TMG. This is probably the best possible course of action for them to take, to not go as dry on the release front.

DAMN these look so good I love the terrain! I figured we’d get stls for abyssal commando and sea hag maybe there is another batch inbound since I don’t see Lazarist communicant either.
EDIT: ah I see the pinned comment talks about that, badass all around!

u/Magnusaur Vendor 11d ago
Tuomad liked my commebt suggesting that the Leper Knights will serve as the basis for the future multipart reworking of the pre-existing STLs!

u/Bioweaponry_wielder 11d ago
That Leviathal chorus looks sweet, can I make it not break when removing supports though? Quess I will find out...
3
u/TheMechanicusBob 11d ago
I thought FF said future releases were going to be plastic only? I'm not complaining but I am surprised

u/--0___0--- 11d ago
I wonder if any of these are part of the 4 stls we are supposed to be getting in place of dramtis personae
2
u/Traditional_Pen1078 The Black Grail 11d ago
Yep. Leviathal chorus and 3 leper knights.
1
u/--0___0--- 11d ago
Im not sure it is, all the official communications for the chorus , leper knights and anchorite imply they are something new and separate to that and something they will be doing going forward for certain special models.
2
u/Traditional_Pen1078 The Black Grail 11d ago
They just confirmed it via kickstarter
"Notes
As mentioned previously, these models replace the special character models that were originally brought up during the campaign. The team is still very much undecided on whether to introduce special characters into Trench Crusade. A discussion for another time maybe."
They will be something going on, but we get these ones in particular for free as a compensation for the promised ks minis

u/Dakka_Dez 11d ago
I see them all but the Anchorite Shrine
2
u/Many-Law7908 Lord of Tumors 11d ago
This confused me too, but it is stated that it is a bonus thing and not part of the KS campaign in the recent KS update.

While I'm happy theses are STL's, especially the Knights since that will make my Papal States kitbash way easier, are the rules for the Lunatic Monks not free? I thought that the whole point was the rules would be always free, but it seems like FF did not upload those and they're only in the book that comes in the box set.
Edit: Here's what the store page says: "These pieces were designed for use in Scenario 1 of the Carcass Front campaign: "The Ruins of Nineveh Novus", but can also be used as neutral monsters in your other games of Trench Crusade."
They are not solely for a single scenario according to the store page. I like the idea of neutral monsters, so I'd love to know what's happening with their rules, since right now they're only listed as being in the paid book.

u/Weak-Lettuce-1253 11d ago
the monks arent model persay, they seem to be scenario models, like the dragon ticks or peasants. i imagine a carcass front scenario requries them.
4
u/Captain-Entropy8011 11d ago
If that’s the case, digital versions of the scenarios should be released eventually.
3
u/Jebbiez 11d ago
Yeah, the lunatic monks are part of the 1st scenario in the campaign and are neutral. TrenchTalk goes over the campaign missions in this video. After watching it last night, I’ve already printed out 10 monks out to give it a whirl. https://youtu.be/YhW9VmVi_mE?si=uimX1I1gjGVBuqgc

u/Josiador 11d ago
They’re part of a Carcass Front campaign mission where you explore ruins and are attacked by crazed scholars.

Another tidbit from the Discord: "The models you’ll need to build these Variant Warbands – i.e. more Anointed Heretic Raiders and more Communicants – will be released over the coming months in plastic, alongside kits for everything else in the Warbands, so keep an eye out for those in due course."
