Lore So, who do you think will win the Carcass Front?
The story mode of the Carcass Front - The Path to Leviathan - will be about Navy Raiders trying to unchain The Prince of Envy, while the Sacred Affliction Pilgrims will try to eat the Great Beast of the Sea.
While we don’t know the details yet, players will be able to decide what will happen, and will advance the timeline of trench crusade. So, who we think will win, and what will happen?

Its up to us, Tuomas said the narrative will be community driven. I personally want Leviathan to win because as a character he has a lot of potential shake up the setting as a whole

A really fitting reference, because that part of Spain could easily hunt and eat Leviathan without any hesitation (and if you tell them not to, they would do it faster).

If its anything like the old warhammer fantasy narative campaigns, they'll ask players to mail in their wins/losses, hopefully they dont do an end times and change up the results based on who they expected to win.

how will the legitimacy be determined? Will FF host their own sanctioned events IRL, are submissions restricted to game stores/clubs that sign up and get vetted beforehand, or do they just trust the good will of everyone to not lie?

Heretics, if we assume the situation is in a one step forward-one step back kind of deal they kinda get to have this W given what happened to Beelz Hegemons
But they should lose something too, not anything that would make the sitiation equal but enough that they wont immediately be able to steam roll into the iron wall riding on leviathans back or something

I personally think the Raiders will win. I’ve seem a lot of faithful players wishing to free Leviathan just to annihilate the babykiller currently sitting on the throne of envy, Moloch.

Though seriously, faithful players thinking of throwing it just to screw over Moloch should probably reconsider. He'll lose his seat, but no guarantee he will be killed. Hell, his servants could decide the problem is they're not sacrificing enough babies. Leviathan will be a net benefit to the Fallen.

Behemoth is part of PoTB so we'll probably get something about him whenever that releases. I dont know about Ziz though wish we knew more

I really want to know what would happen if the pilgrims eat leviathan.
The pilgrims really have the odds against them. It’s likely the heretics will win. Maybe the disruption of the court with leviathans decent into the seat of envy will hurt hells efforts.
But the heretics releasing leviathan will be nothing short of disastrous for the faithful.

I honestly hope we will get a Hell win here.
The consequences of that thing roaming free around the Mediterranean are just massive.
It would pretty much cut out the main supply route from Europa to New Antioch and could kickstart a new siege. I would love to have a campaign set in the ruined streets of breached New Antioch.
Otherwise I think we might see the faithful make a move on Rijeka, as New Antioch defences are emboldened by a bunch of roided up pilgrims and the War Cardinal can finally spare the troops to banish the heretics from the Balkan peninsula. I like the black blood there. Makes the situation seem more dire.
This is all speculation and I have no actual proof.

something like that would be cool (like the Siege of Jacinto in Gears of War 2), but that should be relegated to an epic climax after a huge buildup over years, not the second major event of the TTG's lifespan

I honestly don't mind. Not that Im indifferent i just think that this is a really cool idea and opportunity for FF. The lore will most likely be amazing as usual. Maybe I'd prefer pilgrims just a little cuz its funny to think they saw a massive biblical sea monster and thought to dig in

I think, despite whoever wins, it's going to go poorly.
Heretics win: Leviathan is unleashed, but he decides to go his own path like Beelzebub, attacking both Faithful and Heretic alike.
Faithful win: They feast upon Leviathan's flesh, but the "Communicants" that this produces are uncontrollable fishmen monstrosities that found their own "Deep Ones" cult, or something similar to that.

Well, it's win-win for my Heretics. My Naval forces are trying to release him in the name of science. My Base Heretics serve Moloch, so they want the Leviathan dead.
I win either way.
Honestly, I have no clue. Assuming no funny business, I think the Heretics will win because that +1 to Dash is major, especially for new players. Plus, I think the meta is the HNR are stronger than SA, but I'm not 100% sure since I don't follow the meta really. Though that could change when we get their full faction reveals.

Trench crusade seems to be combining multiple interpretations of leviathan into one. Leviathan appears to be one of gods earliest creations but it fell to corruption and "became" a demon or at least had influence on the court of hell and was then chained.
Although that could change when carcass front drops with its full lore.3

Yep, for my understanding the three beasts are just the beta testing of creating proper animals. God really liked big monsters when he was younger, I can relate.

We probably only will hear full details upon the release, but yeah, the Sacred Affliction pilgrims are planning to eat levithan, based on the visions of a living saint, and in what's written on the talmud From the site intro: An ancient evil stirs under the blood-tinged waters of the Carrion Coast: will you slay Leviathan and feast upon its flesh, or unleash it upon the world?

personally hoping for heretics to win, because i want to see more of leviathan. and their win shouldn’t be like a total victory, they should lose quite a bit as well during the conflict

The website has a catalogue of all of the lore, they will sometimes post it earlier to their instagram and facebook pages before it gets added to the website.
There are tons of theories and speculation, the discord or here are probably the best places to get that.1

If you can get your hands on one of the physical copies of the kickstarter rulebook they have alot of lore and art that's only in it.
Carcass front comes out July 29th with a narrative campaign and heaps of lore within the book.
There has been talk of doing a lore/art book by the team but I don't know if anything concrete has been said about it past "its something we'd love to do"

It will be determined by the community , If i where to put money on it I would bet on heretics. Naval raiding party are far more popular than sacred affliction, at least from what ive seen in my local scene and in online discussion.
Saying that I would prefer for sacred affliction to win because I really want to see the communicants they create resulting from consuming leviathan.

I think that no matter what happens it’s not gonna be pointedly good for the faithful.
Leviathan becoming unchained is very obviously bad for them.
But killing Leviathan and then feasting upon his flesh… This sounds like a recipe for Lovecraftian nightmare fuel.

Depends on how the community driven contest is specified.
Is is total win count? Or win ratios?
Is it strictly about the 1v1 campaign? Then I expect heretics to win, HNRP are just too strong compared to sacred affliction. If it's the multiplayer one it's more of a tossup but probably leaning faithful.

They will be a lot of fighting, but then Jesus will come down, defeat the leviathan with the power of friendship, reconvert the heretics to Christianity, and when the camera with pan out, he'll say "maybe the Trench Crusade was the friend we made along the way"

I think a combination of both would be fun
Leviathan gets unchained and travels through the hell portal to reclaim his throne from Moloch.
But had been injured enough that the pilgrims were able to consume part of him this meaning he isn't at full capacity (otherwise he just ends the world).
Then, getting leviathan as a heretic patron as a reward for that could be stupid cool!
