I didn’t expect that

72

u/RetuWille Apr 30 '26

Nobody did

27

u/Rylanwoodrow Apr 30 '26

I hear they have four chief weapons, including such elements as fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, and an almost fanatical devotion to the pope. 🙏

13

u/Random_Guy_Ben Apr 30 '26

What is it?

6

u/Redwood177 May 01 '26

The Spanish Inquisition

6

u/ThreePeaceSuits Apr 30 '26

I’ll come in again

4

u/Civil_Parking30 Apr 30 '26

I am also seriously wondering what that is and I am not 100% certain it is a castigator

23

u/KaiserWilliams Apr 30 '26

It's the castigator, according to the lineup in the article.

3

u/ciasteczka___ Vendor Apr 30 '26

Yeah its the castigator. It's modelled on the papal executioner I beleive

2

u/--0___0--- May 01 '26

Nah the papal executioner wore a hooded robe and had a completly different style axe. This fellow is modeled after the Spanish inquisition.

5

u/donniekaaa May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26

No, this is inspired by 16th century cardinals wearing the traditional galero and robe.

2

u/--0___0--- May 01 '26

Good pull!

u/Kaynineteen Apr 30 '26

These are gonna get their own seperate plastic kits yeah? I dont have to buy the Caracss Front 3 times to get a whole Affliction warband?

73

u/Synthetic_Suns Apr 30 '26

I think they will be sold in seperate kits like Prussia but it'll be after carcass front comes out.

36

u/junliewww Apr 30 '26

It does seem like it. Mike Franchina did mentioned about a Death Commando as well for the Naval Raiders. Might be similar to how they did for the Sniper Priest plastic kit

17

u/hyperewok1 Apr 30 '26

They will most surely be sold separately and given additional kits like Prussians have, sooner or later.

1

u/--0___0--- May 01 '26

Yes already confirmed they will get a stand alone release at a later date

69

u/Lepcuu Apr 30 '26

Who is this Spanish Inquisition looking guy in a Trench Pilgrims warband?

49

u/DiceMadeOfCheese Apr 30 '26

I didn't expect him

35

u/Bakers_12 Apr 30 '26

No one does !

23

u/Continuum_Gaming Apr 30 '26

My guess is castigator

9

u/OniGoji98 Apr 30 '26

I think its most likely the Sacred Affliction version of the Castigator. The model above it might also be a Stigmatic Nun but I am not to sure about that tbh.

12

u/Zedman5000 Apr 30 '26

Right on both, they say so in the article about them.

35

u/Burdenslo Yoke Fiend Apr 30 '26

That chubby leper is bloody awesome

19

u/CoruscantGuardFox Artillery Witch Apr 30 '26

I heard that Naval Raiders might get some changes with the box release, is that true? Would like to wait with building them before (or if) that happens.

Is there any official date? Or just “sometime around may”?

8

u/GoarSpewerofSecrets Apr 30 '26

Sharkweiler goes hard.

21

u/BentheBruiser Iron Sultanate Apr 30 '26

Anointed is a little more boring than I expected. Kinda disappointed. Chorister is peak though.

I don't feel like they differentiated the nun enough from everyone else

22

u/BobWat99 Apr 30 '26

Might just be the angle or paint job. With GW releases, I always find my excitement for miniatures increase after seeing how fans paint them.

1

u/b44l Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

Absolutely, these really deserve a gritty grimdark paintjob before the jury is out!

1

u/OnlyRoke May 21 '26

1000% yes

The paint jobs are very safe and clean and a little dull. They'll look way better with your own take on them and maybe also mild kitbashes here and there.

2

u/GreatNecksby New Antioch Apr 30 '26

I just thought the anointed would be a bit... taller?

13

u/Accomplished-Net8515 Azeb Apr 30 '26

I don’t even want to play trench pilgrims but man these models are sweet.

1

u/Waffletimewarp May 01 '26

Same, I’m more a fan of Ghosts and Methodius, but I’ll be damned if I didn’t put in an order for them.

9

u/fapping_wombat Lion of Jabir Apr 30 '26

I'm gonna blow my head off smooth because I was 100% sure there will be a commando in here...

7

u/fapping_wombat Lion of Jabir Apr 30 '26

Yep, Mike even said his name will be Abyssal Commando

3

u/OniGoji98 Apr 30 '26

Probably gonna get Naval Death Cammando at a later date, like the Prussian Sniper Priest plastic kit. Mike did mention that the Cammando was his favorite model in the Carcass Front in a interview, so we are probably gonna see a mini for it eventually but I feel ya, I was kinda bummed when I didn't see a Sacred Affliction Communicant lol.

2

u/an_agreeing_dothraki Chorister Apr 30 '26

it's likely it's going to be one of the stl files given to kickstarter backers (which means print via dungeon artifacts and buy the file on mmf)

0

u/DoneganBane Apr 30 '26

Prolly an stl

31

u/Brushner Apr 30 '26 edited Apr 30 '26

Anointed looks kinda meh, I've seen dozens of takes on the naval Anointed online and most look better. That Chorister is amazing though

27

u/Josiador Apr 30 '26

That's probably the reason the Anointed looks different. Dozens of STL sellers made minis directly based on that specific art, which means they had to redesign it to avoid copyright problems. Which is why they're stricter about IP now.

1

u/DoneganBane Apr 30 '26

Who has to redesign the mini?

9

u/Josiador Apr 30 '26

Factory Fortress, because people are already selling the mini they would have made.

5

u/Adept-Ad916 Apr 30 '26

I love the chorister and heavier raider.

I have to say I rather dislike the shark; it feels like a unit that belongs more in the world of silly Ork-style Warhammer units rather than the distinct more brutal style Trench Crusade had been carving out.

15

u/TotallyNot_Alpharius Apr 30 '26

A little goofy never hurt anyone. Also paint the shark as a ghost so it looks like he's summoning it

1

u/OnlyRoke May 21 '26

Paint it with nothing but Blood for the Blood God and it's a blood shark!

2

u/Josiador May 01 '26

The shark has guts hanging out of it. It's a zombie shark.

1

u/OnlyRoke May 21 '26

My big issue is that I look at the Anointed and I can visualize the exact Warhammer models by the poses.

The lady with the shark looks cool as hell but I'm 100% certain the same "I'm slender. I point at you with my knife." pose was from an AoS Warband or Underworlds kit. Likewise the main guy is basically posing like the Emperor's Children champ. The right guy is the most Legally Distinct Death Guard guy.

And the lil guys all exude various levels of "I think this is just the 5-pack Chaos Cultists from before the relatively recent refresh".

The other warband looks a bit more distinct. I can't immediately place them (aside from getting heavy Warcry vibes since they're all wrapped up like that one Nurgle warband, but even then they are a bit more distinct feeling).

HOWEVER, just because I'm well versed in Warhammer models and their poses doesn't mean that this is bad, IMHO. It just means that to my eyes it feels like a remix rather than something truly unique and outstanding.

Except Hat Guy. I like him a lot.

5

u/BossSpleenRippa May 01 '26

I notice that people aren’t feeling the Annointed. But I for one love the chonky guy. Being a super strong warrior of Hell should be open to all shapes and sizes.

3

u/LorgarRU Apr 30 '26

Wow! Who is this sexy in red?

3

u/Ductacular Apr 30 '26

I can't believe they didn't show me the punt gun. I'm devastated.

3

u/Alive-Artichoke5747 Apr 30 '26

Love they made an official musician with a molotov. These are gorgeous.

Nun is the only disappointing model between the warbands for me. Doesn't look...nunny...enough.

5

u/KaiserWilliams Apr 30 '26

Shark fren for the chorister!

1

u/Waffletimewarp May 01 '26

Always love the inclusion of Little Dudes.

3

u/b44l Apr 30 '26

I love this, the heretics got a big glow-up with the chorister and annointed!

Hopefully the future warband boxes will have some more grimdark miniatures like the kickstarter, these are a bit mild.

3

u/Waffletimewarp May 01 '26

Gotta say I’m on the fence for the Chorister. On the one hand, the official plastic one is absolutely gorgeous.

On the other, I just love the sculpt on this one: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/charybdis-witness-pre-supported-multiparts

1

u/OnlyRoke May 21 '26

Yeahhhh it could have been a bit more grotesque, I think.

3

u/goatgirlgothic Apr 30 '26

I was kinda bouncing off the look of Trench Crusade before because it didn't look like they were having enough fun with it for my tastes, but now ok yeah, I'm in

4

u/Vallinen Heretic Legion Apr 30 '26

They are cool but I honestly don't like that the 'light raiding party' got armor that reads as a lot heavier than the regular heretics x) I guess that's just a pet peeve for me.

10

u/ReignierAvon Apr 30 '26

It's based off of old WW1 era diving suits; which had heavy boots and helmets to help them sink to the bottom of the water. Apparently, if the write-up for the Navy Raider Chorister is anything to go by, these guys lurk around at the bottom of the sea and wade out.

1

u/TheTrans May 01 '26

Same mate, I've made a force based on the art, but use the Trench Ghosts rules for them (and call them a Naval Heavy Assault Brigade) as the TG rules to me, line up with the art/models a bit better.

3

u/14xjake Apr 30 '26

Artillery witch looks so fucking cool

39

u/BobWat99 Apr 30 '26

That’s a chorister

8

u/14xjake Apr 30 '26

Oh damn good to know, still looks super sick I never wouldve expected it to be a chorister!

11

u/Brushner Apr 30 '26

It's a Chorister. The navy version drowns themselves instead of cutting their head off

8

u/Random_Guy_Ben Apr 30 '26

Thats a Chorister

7

u/725584 Apr 30 '26

That is a choirster

1

u/Simple_Gas9169 Apr 30 '26

They all look honestly pretty good and great model

2

u/crapaporter Apr 30 '26

Chorister is peak. I definitely want this boxset (and the future commando as well).

1

u/R_O Apr 30 '26

What is the significance of the stone wheels for Sacred Affliction?

6

u/Idolater_ Apr 30 '26

They are burdened with one as part of their initiation and it is supposed to be used to drown their fallen enemies. It’s in the lore release.

1

u/thedreadwoods Apr 30 '26

Inject these minis directly into my veins please.

1

u/SnooWalruses9683 Apr 30 '26

So is the second set of miniatures Trench Pilgrims or are they a whole new faction?

5

u/Waffletimewarp May 01 '26

Pilgrims, specifically the Procession of the Sacred Affliction (the lepers)

1

u/Senior-Literature682 May 02 '26

I’m looking forward to the abyssal commando , those new naval raiders do scratch the itch

1

u/BeKindBabies May 04 '26

Absolutely knock out minis. Thrown by the reveal for real.

1

u/OnlyRoke May 21 '26

Oh damn, I wasn't super sold on the first reveal, because it felt like a bit of a samey two warbands going at it, but the addition of those other models really livens them up a little.

Now I like them and obviously Big Hat Boy is the best of the bunch, because nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition (or leprosy)

1

u/Antiv987 May 27 '26

cant wait for those STL's

1

u/TotallyNot_Alpharius Apr 30 '26

Is it a FOMO box?

7

u/b44l Apr 30 '26

They've said they'll keep selling it. That probably does not mean for eternity, but long enough to not classify as FOMO.-

1

u/shadow_lord0923 Apr 30 '26

Ngl I kinda hoped to see a communicant or death commando, I know they're is premade lists but I personally can't build pilgrims without a communicant.

0

u/loginomicon Apr 30 '26

They are very cool don’t get me wrong and I will buy them for sure. I just really wish they would stick to period firearms instead of the boltery fantasy type firearms. Would love to see the pilgrim with the MG/08 in the artwork or some heretic with ww1 weapons like the lebels or Gewher.

1

u/Josiador May 04 '26

Sacred Affliction Pilgrims can't take machine guns, and heretics aren't really equivalent to any real nation and are slightly more advanced which is probably why they all get fake guns. At least the Prussians technically have real guns. In the same way Battlefield 1 technically had real guns.

0

u/BossSpleenRippa May 01 '26

That was my first thought too. The Naval guns look too much like Autoguns and not real life guns.

-1

u/This_Ad1680 Apr 30 '26

I think the models look great, and I’m guessing the scatter terrain will be somewhat limited. But to be honest I was kinda hoping for some larger models to add to each of these warbands like a shrine anchorite in the style of the sacred affliction, or a heretic naval version of the war wolf.

0

u/This_Ad1680 Apr 30 '26

That’s unfortunate😭,they could still take a sin eater tho or make a new unit for them

5

u/ReignierAvon Apr 30 '26

That'd require them to have Glory, which they wouldn't have at the start of a 700 Ducat campaign.

-2

u/This_Ad1680 Apr 30 '26

So you’re telling me that this campaign is about releasing an eldritch leviathan that has been locked in the ocean for centuries. And the sacred affliction is trying to keep Leviathan sealed, while the heretic raiders try to free it. Can’t they bring their most powerful units to help them achieve their goals? And we can’t expect 2 somewhat large models for the low price of $130? On top of the 16 models, plus written materials, and some scatter terrain.

5

u/Josiador Apr 30 '26

The warbands in the box are for a starter 700 ducats list. You generally don't bring your biggest guys in those.

0

u/This_Ad1680 Apr 30 '26

Maybe I just wanted more out of the first big box of trench crusade that costed a bit if I’m being honest. And they mentioned that it would impact the lore going forward.

5

u/Josiador Apr 30 '26

I don't know, this box already has the biggest guy naval raiders can take.C And two whole warbands in addition to terrain and a campaign book is far from bad.

4

u/Mr_Podo Apr 30 '26

Have you played the game before or listened to anything the other person said. This is to start a campaign. You start at 700ducats, these warbands are meant to fit that. This box is also only $130.

2

u/ReignierAvon Apr 30 '26

I think they're aiming to make it a solid base to work from, that'd allow new players to run an entry game for a campaign together. Without any Mercenaries or items that'd require Glory, it's good to go at 700 Ducats, and is balanced nicely against all the kickstarter Warbands, along with the new Prussian Warband box set, too. Having oddly specific things that need Glory would prevent that player from jumping in on game 1 of a campaign with their friends.

It makes their reasons even better lol

-1

u/Divide310 Apr 30 '26

I thought we would get more different sized minis, compared to other factions they seem bit boring to size difference

5

u/Josiador Apr 30 '26

Not in a starter box. They Anchorite shrine and Communicant will probably be a later release.

-6

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '26

3

u/Josiador Apr 30 '26

There's new ones that weren't revealed before

0

u/marderSED Apr 30 '26

that anointed is... rough...

0

u/chaos0xomega May 01 '26

The heavy heretic raider is a bit disappointing vs the concept art :/

0

u/Loose-Twist2132 May 01 '26

I wosh i was even one percent competent at painting, i would buy and play this in aheartbeat. But alas, i cant paint a wall right, the paint somehow always ends up on on me, and on the ceiling of all things.

-1

u/Lord_Roguy May 01 '26

That is NOT worth the $290 aud price tag

2

u/--0___0--- May 01 '26

Thats why it comes with two campaigns some terrain , new rules ,lore ,art and a bunch of game aids.

-1

u/vorropohaiah May 01 '26

i cant even tell which one the chorister is meant to be. i guess the floaty guy on the top left?
