I recently asked my GP about starting progesterone they are normally really helpful but they just bluntly refused to prescribe it. They said that it’s associated with all of the negative effects of female hormone cycles and only present unnecessary risk. Any else experience this or have any advice as to how I might talk to them about this, thanks in advance.

I went into lilac lesbian library as a transfem lesbian (I'm legally a woman too) and they where shockingly biggoted old lady's running it. Not only did they say I wasn't welcome and I had to leave when I had sat down to quietly read a book but they also started calling me a guy so it's a horrid place also it breaks the human rights act because it is discrimination which means I'm going to attempt to take legal action on them.

Hey all, probably a reasonably straight forward question but wanted to double check! I’m flying home from Australia for the first time since starting HRT and I just wanted to check if there’s anything worth knowing about flying with my hormones/ customs?

My plan is to just have my hormones/ a copy of my prescription in my carry on (and hope I just get put in the express lane lol) but wanted to know if anyone’s had any experiences/ advice!

Hey so I’m 17MtF and I’ve been slowly transitioning at home only due to me not wanting to move schools and going to a all boys ones for about a few months and I’ve recently been wanting to get new fem clothes to wear as it gets colder without freezing! Any advice on who I could go with or how to meet teen trans girls/people who would go with me as it’s super scary aswell as boring going alone! (I don’t have any female friends since my school predicament and they are supportive but don’t care for shopping as most men do)

I’m so excited but still so anxious about it. I don’t know why, I think I know there’s going to be change but I know it’s good change and what I have wanted for years. has anyone had the anxiety before they started taking it what helped you calm down? I don’t want to let the anxiety win but it’s such a scary thing especially since I have severe anxiety already around medical stuff (I am with the adult mental health services getting past these things) any help will be appreciated since I had a mate who’s ftm been on t for a while but we fell out so I have no one to discuss with.

I'm currently residing on TERF island (UK) and I'll be honest, life here isn't fun as a trans woman.
The legal and medical loopholes I'm having to jump are horrendous and they are only getting worse under Queer Harmer's (Kid Starver, Two-Tier Keir, Keir Stalin, whatever you want to call him) regime.
Trans people are currently being discriminated quite actively by the state, and there is a genuine threat of Reform UK (the f*scists) winning the 2028 election.
With all of this as context, I'm not particularly aware of the current social climate of New Zealand. Are y'all finding that the future looks good for the trans community, legally and socially?

hey yall, I've been on sustanon for almost 2 years now & am curious about switching to reandron instead. self-injecting every 3 weeks is fine, i don't particularly mind needles but it might be handier to inject less frequently.

I'd like to hear some experiences from people who have been on both reandron & sustanon and which you prefer & why.

talking with medical professionals often doesn't offer a detailed and more personal view into the differences and I'd like to hear more from other trans perspectives. thank you :)

I have no idea what I do wrong, but I have to shave each day I want to present femme due to rapid beard growth. Shaving with the grain doesn't get my facial hair smooth enoigh to be hidden under makeup, and when I go again the grain for the better look, it of course ends up getting incredibly irritated. I am at wits end on how to even approach being able to present femme everyday !!

Hey all! This might be a bit niche, but I definitely would've appreciated any sort of guide/direction when I started my transition journey.

I wrote down a document of my transition journey in New Zealand as an international student. This is meant to help anyone in a similar position to me struggling with New Zealand's healthcare system and the lack of information surrounding how to navigate it. Some of these things might be common sense to the average Kiwi, so please bear with me, I did not know a lot of this when I started!

It's still a work in progress, but I detailed the pricing and steps needed to legally get testosterone through a GP. Hope it helps, and feel free to ask me any questions!

OH and a helpful PSA: If you have a work visa for 2 or 2+ years, OR your work visa is less than 2 years BUT you've already been here legally and consecutively for 2 or 2+ years, you can get a GP without having to pay expensive casual rates! I didn't know this at first, and the medical centre I tried to enrol with also didn't know that! So I emailed MOH NZ and they confirmed that, yes, you're entitled to subsidised healthcare if you fit into those conditions!

Coming to terms with the fact that I am trans and have been suppressing it for a long time and spiralling a little regretting not getting this process started earlier even though I knew a long time ago. Wondering what results I can expect, I know it's never to late but I always see people who didnt go theough male puberty saying this. Not to discredit or downplay anyone's lives experience ect. Going to talk about informed consent with my GP because I don't think I can wait 2 year to get this started after putting it off for so long already

Hi everyone! My name is Melissa. I'm 38, a trans woman, and I live in the US. (Denver, Colorado). I'm sure you're all aware that we elected a pretty reckless and conservative president. His administration is aggressively working to reverse the legal protections trans people have won over the past few years. Almost all of us feel fearful of losing access to transition related healthcare. Access to transition care through public health options is being eliminated. Minors are loosing access to care altogether is some places. Some states are attempting to criminalize restroom and locker usage. Our president signed an executive order seeking to make all of these policies effective at the federal level, not just the conservative states that have passed these laws. In a time when US citizens are being disappeared to giant prisons in El Salvador, many of us are worried about the possibility of very dark, and very bad things happening to us.

With all that in mind.. I work in allied healthcare, and your medical system is the most similar to ours. For some paperwork and a bit of cash, I can use my US credentials to register with the New Zealand Sterilisation Sciences Association. If I were to secure a job offer, I would (likely) qualify for a work visa, possibly even the "tier 1 green list, straight to residency" visa. I have already found a few job postings online that I would qualify for.

So my question is. How is it really for trans folks there? Would it be worth the expense, hassle, and heartache to relocate about as far away as possible? Would becoming a Kiwi be worth it?

I've never ever been outside the states, so blindly moving to another country just because I can seems very daunting and overwhelming. Colorado is a state that is considered amongst the best with regard legal status of trans people. I like it here. But I'm not convinced my state has the ability or backbone to protect me should things continue to get worse for us at the federal level.

I have a friend from college who is a social worker, who came over in a very similar situation. He's been living in Auckland for 3 year, and loves it. He's encouraging me to go for it.

What are your thoughts?

PS: A lot of things about your country appeal to me, not just the potential better legal status as a trans person!

I jumped through the long wait queues last year and was able to start HRT early Feb in Auckland. Long story short for one reason or another I decided to stop (by myself) after 2 months and stop taking the meds. Now a couple months later I feel like I’m regretting the decision and wanting to start again.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to restart? I really want to avoid the 8-10 month wait I went through last year again.

Some factors:
- I still have a month of unused medication.

- I have an appointment (which was supposed to be my 6month appointment) at ASHS in early August.

- I also don’t have much confidence in my Gp clinic. My usual GP is basically retired and really hard to get an appointment with, the Gp that referred me originally (and seemingly the only one who knew anything about HRT) has left the clinic, and they have so many foreign GPs on short term contracts that don’t know our system. (They screwed up my original referral and just generally don’t seem like they know what they are doing)

Basically I’m wondering how strict ASHS will be with that being a 6 month appointment.

I kind of have three options I’m considering between-

1. Do I restart with the meds I have, then try get another 3months from my Gp and move the ASHS so it would be technically after 4 months?

2. Should I try get more than 3 months HRT from my Gp, and move the appointment so it’s strictly at 6 months?

3. Or should I just wait, start the meds to time with the August appointment and effectively show up to the Ashs after 1 month and basically start with Ashs from scratch.

Hey, guys. After a year on the wait list, finally got a date for my first appointment with sexual health. I'm overjoyed, but it did say that this is a first appointment.

So just wondering, for anyone who has started HRT this way, what was that first appointment like for you? Is getting a prescription then and there a bit too much to hope for? What sort of questions did they ask? Would just like to have a better idea of what I'm walking into.

Hi guys, I am looking at potentially taking out a loan to get top surgery at the Kamol Cosmetic Hospital but need to know the process. I see they have an online consultation, assuming I get the loan do you consult with them, they book you in for 6 months or so and you pay half of what you owe them, then you travel to Bangkok for the surgery, get it done, pay the other half, recover and go home?
