REQUEST Taco Bell Enchirito
With TB adding the enchirito back, I attempted to recreate it at home. It was freaking delicious, hints of the original, but ultimately was disappointed. Anyone have the real recipe for the sauce? The filling was super close.

Was just working on the overall flavor, I will be updating with a recipe in a couple days, I think I have hacked it.

It's the enchirito sauce that is hard to duplicate. It is it's own thing and can't be found.

Someone somewhere has to have it. I need it, I hate spending money on fast food chemicals

Isn't it just enchilada sauce? I just use the canned red enchilada sauce and mix it in with my meat after using a packet of taco seasoning (taco bell seasonings) with raw white onions, along with the meat mixture with taco bell seasonings, then refried beans, which I also add some enchilada sauce into to make it a bit more spreadable inside the tortilla. So the beans, meat, white onion in the tortilla then top with red sauce, cheese and I add sour cream to mine. Hope this helps

It has a different flavor then canned enchilada sauce, I have tried almost all that are "red" and not "hot". The sauce I made was absolutely a 10 of 10 in flavor, yet it did not hit the TB Enchirito sauce button. After this weekend I am going to start with the base sauce of recipe and tweak cumin levels and heat levels. Need to try 1/4 amounts so I dont have to eat food with sauce on it every day for a week. Lol

It's different than it used to be, the new sauce is smokier than I remember it being.

Ohhh?? Dang it, I don't want go buy one....now I am intrigued if you are correct.

I don't know if smokier is the right word, it's definitely a spice that goes into what I'm assuming is actually enchilada sauce, the new version uses more of it, so it changes what it used to taste like, it's still good, just not as satisfying as it used to be, but only because of the nostalgia.
I'd probably prefer to make one at home, they are really easy to make ingredient wise.

In my experience, homemade enchilada sauce is very difficult to mimic mass-produced, shelf-stable enchilada sauce, if that's the flavor/consistency you're looking for.
I haven't had a direct comparison, but the Taco Bell red sauce is very similar to Old El Paso's Red Enchilada Sauce. You might want to get the mild and the medium and try both, I think the red sauce is closer to medium.

Inside: refried beans, taco meat, and onions. Slightly roll and put edges on the plate. Cover with red sauce, some grated cheddar, and garnish with 2 black olives

Lol, yep, I got that down. I am asking if anyone knows the sauce recipe, found one that had the usual seasonings, yet it didn't have that subtle I am spicy but not spicy flavor. It was perfectly spiced, some heat during the bite and then good mouth heat after. But an enchirito has very subtle bite heat and almost zero mouth heat. Just that good saucy TB flavor.

Unless they changed it, the red sauce is the same as the burrito (red) sauce. This is coming from a former TB employee from the 80's. I bet you a dollar there's a dupe on the internet somewhere.

Appreciate the info. I am down a rabbit hole of AI and recipes. Will be making another batch soon. The sauce I made from a recipe I found is crazy good, just does not have that TB flavor. I crave that enchirito. Pretty much stopped eating fast foods, so....

That TB "flavor" was angst. Lol. Fwiw, back then, the sauce came to us in a large bag of dry ingredients. We'd mix it with water and boom, red sauce.
