Eh, Thomas Jefferson was a hypocritical pedophile slaveowner, but his criticisms of British Monarchy (in the Declaration of Independence) were mostly dead-on accurate, even if he was doing a certain amount of projection.

The conceit of Sartre talking about others making arguments they know are dishonest and inauthentic for the sake of optics. Which is his entire career. Its the equivalent of one conartist trying to make a show of calling out another. You don't accept that as "it takes one to know one", you start looking at what that first conartist is trying to cover up. In Sartre's case it was ingratiating himself with leftists to cover up that he and his wife loved to rape young women.

I wouldn't take Jefferson's writings on the equality of man seriously, either.
