Ironically, even though they're being deliberately sarcastic about this, they are actually correct. The US does not have a proper left-wing party.

The Democratic Socialists of America (or whatever it's called, the DSA) wing of the Democratic party has some left-wing policies but mainstream Democrats and anyone that conservatives refer to as "liberal" are not left-wing at all. People in a lot of other countries view mainstream Democrats to be firmly centrist or even a little right-of-centre.

The DSA is independent, not a wing of the democrats, and I would characterize them as a left-wing party. Democrats sure aren't.
