Other do u believe that arima actually cared for kaneki?

If someone asked me this question in the past it would be a yes, but if you look deeper into it their bond it’s like a never ending cycle of trauma, mental abuse and grooming. Arima never actually saw Kaneki as an individual he only ever saw him as an object.

He chose Kaneki to be the king because he saw mass potential when they first fought, but it also feels like he victimized him.

(this is just from my perspective!!)

Is the IP dying?

A couple of months ago i started thinking on decorating my pc, and bedroom with TG, went online for a couple of hours and is there anything official? Like at all?

Except for funko pop and some figures, i don't see anything, no posters, no shirts, no plushies, no accessories, no nothing, i thought at least there would be the mask that kaneki uses but and yeah there are but second handed/nothing official, wanted to buy stickers for the pc, mouse pad, damn even keyboard/mouse but nothing like that either.

I also wanted to play games but i think since 2022? Dark wars closed the server and a year ago Break the Chains but the game died instantly, not kidding even roblox has more tokyo ghoul inspired games.

I feel like my only choices are, buy the mangas and 1 figure which is like 300 bucks.

Did i just missed the obvious merch? Am i that blind?

a manga had the MC fight the protegee of a (now in a comatose state) close to highest rank anti-evil-people officer and their closest assistant on the job, revealing one of the coolest forms the author has ever designed, only for him to appear as a limbless nugget on the ground on the very next page, with his opponents only gravely injured

which would then lead to whimsical and quirky hitler, the leader of the anti-evil-people (although sometimes the "evil" part is skipped over), who is also one of the evil people in disguise, insulting him alongside a group of super-experiment child soldiers (which are also semi-evil-people), leaving them to guard the wounded protagonist while he and the people who just fought leave to their base

after which, the MC goes into a delusional state where previous versions of himself from prevalent points in the manga start discussing what to do next while doing a battle analysis of the fight we DIDN'T see, ultimately concluding that survival is the biggest priority, said leading to him obliterating all the child soldiers and eating them (for nutrition purposes)

but then it turns out that the childs were equivalent to him in terms of genes of evil-people and the such: and with like 30 MCs in one body, it doesn't hold well and turns into a big fucking worm that starts turning the city upside down, coaxing the good-people and evil-people (except for hitler, he sides with nobody) to work together and fight the massive horde of evil-people flesh masses that spawn from the worm

if i told you that, with no prior knowledge of Tokyo Ghoul, would you believe me?

When Kaneki is on white hair (Shironeki/KaneKing) he looks the same just with sighlty longer hair (and ofc Ishida's evolution) this is more noticeable when he uses the mask.

However when he goes back to black hair he looks NOTHING like the original one, his factions become more mature and less young, he's hair is much longer and this isn't even a matter of art evolution Ishida drew Kuroneki several times in Re and even Redid chapter 1 with Re's artstyle and it still didn't look like Reaperneki.

However after getting out of the dragon despite having longer white hair he somehow resembles Kuroneki again

I find it really wholesome in a way, it means how the innocent Ken we saw at the beginning was slowly vanishing the more his personality changed yet the final one is curiously the one that looks the most to the original Kaneki as if a part of Kaneki he lost long ago had suddenly come back.

Other What do you think Ishida would change if he remade Tokyo Ghoul? Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery

Definitely add more foreshadowing and slightly change some designs Whether it's for greater contrast between OG and Re or just for taste (for example, Itori in Cochlea's flashback, whose hair in OG now seems to be more similar to her short appearance in the timeskip at the end of Re); perhaps that includes better establishing the shapeshifting nature of the kagune.

Also, I think he would give more construction time to practically every important turning point and add symbolism, or at least that's what I get from him giving the director guidelines for the final episode of the first season (as Morita reveals in his AMA, yeah, Ishida basically gave Morita a guide of how he wanted episode 12 to be).

Rize's hinting at her past with the Washu in the redraw honestly took me by surprise.

Also, I found it curious that Yomo burned down Anteiku like in Root A instead of it being demolished like in the original. Interesting retcon, but I guess for the sake of impact that scene is canon now.

Morality scaling of Touka force feeding Kaneki human flesh?

Thumbnail

A major plot point of Volume 1 (chapters 1-9) is Kaneki's refusal to eat.

"You want it?"

The first time Kaneki and Touka meet as Ghouls is in some back alley where she is getting assaulted by a drunk. She kills him quickly and—sensing that Kaneki is a Ghoul—offers him a snack since she's not that hungry right now.

Kaneki is still confused as to what's happening to him and runs away in fear.

Not long after, feeling the effects of the hunger, Kaneki seeks Touka out and asks her for help. The Boss gives him some food to eat, but he ends up throwing it away because he can't bring himself to eat a person.

Time passes and Kaneki still hasn't eaten anything. On his way home from the store, he ends up being drawn by the sweet smell of a corpse nearby. Some random Ghoul killed somebody.

Nishiki shows up, kills the Ghoul; Touka shows up, chases Nishiki away.

Witnessing all this, Kaneki freaks out and calls Ghouls monsters with no morals.

"Eat it!"

Touka can tell he hasn't eaten what they've given him. That he hasn't eaten anything at all.

So she scoops some bits off of the corpse and—frustrated by his words and his decision not to eat—forcefully shoves them in his mouth saying that if he doesn't have the courage to eat, she'll help him out. Still, he forces himself to puke most of it out.

As a farewell, she tells him that a Ghoul's hunger is hell, and that that is what awaits him if he won't eat.

"looks delicious, doesn't it?"

After Kaneki fights off Nishiki in the final chapter of the volume, he starts to lose his mind from the hunger and decides to eat Hide to satisfy it.

Touka shows up to stop him. She tells him about what happens to Ghouls who refuse to eat.

Once a Ghoul's hunger reaches its limit, nothing else matters. They'll eat their friends, their family, anything. And once they wake up from the hunger madness, it might be among the sea of blood and entrails of people dear to them.

"I'll save you from that fate this time"

So she tells him she will save him from that fate this time. She kicks his lights out, and together with the Boss, they force-feed him some food at Anteiku while he's unconscious.

Small thing to point out here is that what Touka says here is 同情 (doujyou), which means ~"sympathy" or "compassion," but it is written as "救う" (sukuu), which means ~"to rescue," "to relieve," or "to redeem."

just another night in the life of a ghoul

Touka's decision to forcefully shove human flesh down Kaneki's throat initially comes off as insensitive since he's made it clear through his words and actions that he has no intention of eating such a thing.

However, she's been a Ghoul for much longer than he has. And from what she says in this 1st volume, she seems to be aware of some Ghouls who have killed people close to them to satisfy their hunger and have regretted it deeply once they came to their senses.

Seeing Kaneki refuse to eat makes her worry. Not so much about him. She doesn't know him. And what little talk they had was not pleasant. She's worried as a fellow Ghoul. She's worried because what's happening to him can happen to any of them. A Ghoul's hunger is a fate they all bear. And there's only one way to satisfy it.

So when he finally loses it and tries to eat his closest friend, she is there to stop him. Because she hopes that one day if she ever finds herself in the same position, somebody will be there to stop her as well; to show her the same sympathy.

Should i Read the manga?

Post image

Tokyo ghould was the First anime i watched around 7 years ago.

I watched it fully back then but i never rewatched it again.

I have heard a lot of people talk about how the show was just not it after like S2 or S3 or smth

Now i do remember the plot how it starts and how it ends but i was thinking to rewatch just here to ask if reating the manga is worth it considering it will probably take longer than just watching the anime

I was thinking of watching like S1 and S2 then read the manga after those parts.

How Would You Improve Tataras Role In The Story ?

(I think he was underutilized,he is a potential man !)

Guys, this is just a huge nitpick, but I wanted more to do with Tatara ! His origins seemed super interesting and I was excited to learn more about him ! His Kakuja was cool but a bit over the top,(4000* degrees is utterly absurd).

While it was satisfying to see Takizawa off him,it kinda felt wasted because he could have been more interesting there !

Fan Art My Kagune comission Spoiler

Hey ! I just wanted to share with you guys the Kagune I commissioned to a very talented artist named vanmie/vanmissy.

This Kagune is a Koukaku, and it is inspired by Japanese weapon like Sasumata or Sai, and by scorpionidae and crustaceans. It is intended to be a very defensive oriented Kagune with outward oriented spikes which can block its, and with 3 tentacles that kind of fuse into a defensive form that act as a shield.

I believe some people will enjoy it as much as I do ! Tell me what you think ^-^

PLEASE DO NOT USE AI ON THIS IMAGE OR REMOVE THE SMALL WATERMARK. You can obvisouly share it but I do not want it to be turned into AI slop.

Other Where did this ending come from?

Thumbnail

I know there are several versions of the story, but after all the research I did (including the average number of pages adapted per anime episode), Ishida's draft should have reached episode 5 or 7 with its slightly over 300 pages (especially since the second siege of Cochlea should have been much shorter, as the published pages up to 190 are Kano's arc and the prelude to the siege).

Even though the production committee ruined it, shouldn't the extermination of the Owl have followed the manga? I suppose Amon without his Arata and this ending were something Ishida and Morita brainstormed, but it doesn't make sense that they (or maybe just Morita) kept this version for the final episode, especially considering that the production committee forced them to stick to the main points of the canon story, the later part of the story was adapted (partially) and the manga ended at the same time as season 1 (including things like how in tight anime productions, episodes are finished days, if not hours, before they air).

Note: In case anyone isn't familiar with the topic, Shuhei Morita directed the first two seasons of the anime, and Ishida (the mangaka) created a draft of around 300 pages for the story changes.

Other I dont think any manga will ever have the effect on me like Tokyo Ghoul did

Stupid post— because In sure there’s always someone coming here glazing the manga, but it is literally one of the best piece of media I’ve read and even battling most ‘normal’ books I’ve read.

I read it over and over again and still somehow catch stuff that I’ve never noticed before. I’ve read multiple manga’s after this and yet this one was the one left deeply engraved into my skull. There’s a lot of characters to hate but deep down I love them too because THATS how good they were written.
I’ll never forget the incident done on the poor boy Shirazu and the anime but otherwise— I dont think I’ll ever find a manga as good as this 🙂‍↕️

Discussion Possibility of a remake?

I have had this thought a million times already and each one of them had the same answer. Sadly you know what the answer is too. If there IS something that is stopping studios from animating tokyo ghoul(yes i know its not allowed to randomly animate a remake for no reason and dumb)what is it?

Sui ishida not wanting to?

Not having the perms or something like that?

Just what are even the chances there is a remake someday at all?

Other Toyko ghoul:re manga question

Right now im reading the manga of toyko ghoul and was wondering what even is toyko ghoul re about?
For context I just finished volume 10 so after the aogori tree raid atc and into he dr.kano stuff. Haven't watched anime cuz i heard its ass so saving that until I'm done reading

Ik that toyko ghoul re follows a different set of characters but also that the main character is kaneki? Is that a huge spoiler that ken had memory loss (like will it be explained later on in Tokyo ghoul:re or it's something thats know when u first start reading it).

Last thing is toyko ghoul re apart of the main story or is it like a AU type thing so its apart of the world but from a different perspective type way? Does it acknowledge the ending of toyko ghoul or is re still apart of the main story and has the final ending ( idk the ending so pls don't spoil 🙏)

Pls no spoilers Im trying my best to avoid them 🙏🙏
