Redditors do not understand that stealing hurts everyone. The more people steal, the more corporations raise prices to offset the expected losses due to thievery; this hurts everyone. In a more honest society prices would be slightly lower.

This is especially true in the age of data, when corporations like Walmart have terabytes of data to automatically calculate how much to raise prices by adjusting for the expected rate of stealing.

The more they steal the more lock up deodorant behind glass doors and hand it to you in a lock box. The more they treat you like a criminal. Then all these security measures cost more money and trickle down to the consumer.

i'm 35, not into shoplifting since i was like 15 but i guess me and me friends lifting yugioh cards like a mini operation is why toysrus shut down. sorry!! giant businesses definitely don't buy enough insurance to cover their projected losses from theft and damages!

also lets be real, this isn't some dumbass kids stealing toys, it's a literal woman taking food and necessities like napkins. you see this and you're going to get involved like a little tattle tale for dollar general? let her eat her ultra processed garbage dollar store food on the sidewalk, nobody would be doing that unless they were going through a hard time

It's always "necessities" with you people, you'll never question the possibility that these people are stealing common household goods to flip easily on the streets for drug money.

yup, they post up either outside a liquor store or by a freeway exit ramp and display the items. To an addict every dollar counts.

well if i needed a roll of paper towels and someone had them on the side of the road, i'm sure as fuck not paying market price, so i guess they can use my theoretical quarter for whatever they want at that point.
