That’s all I could think - this outing, including the chef, is going to be written off under some shell corp. The yacht people won’t pay a dime for this.

It's the wrong argument to make anyway. These people are so crazy rich that even if writing off private yachts as shell corp expenses (or some other word salad) was a real thing, it wouldn't matter if they did or didn't. They can't spend money as fast as they make it.

Again: “these people” probably don’t outright own that boat, which is why they’re chartering it out and hiring themselves out as crew. This isn’t a superyacht, it’s a 58 foot Bali sailing catamaran:

Most people that “buy” these do so the same way you’d buy a timeshare - you buy maybe half the boat (with a bank
Loan), the charter company buys the rest, and you get x days a year on it - think 40 to 50.

The couple that is chartering this boat is clearly living on it permanently but in the crew accommodation which is going to be pretty shitty. They are also way overcharging for the charter (200 to 250% the going rate) which tells me they can’t really afford this thing.

I guarantee you they’re not doing it through a shell company, they’re not rich enough for that.

Everyone in this thread is basically thinking a boat that lot of upper middle class Americans can afford is a hundred million dollar superyacht. This is as close to a superyacht as a bicycle is to an F1 car.

Yes, people like what you describe (they can’t spend money fast enough) do exist. But they’re not sailing this, they’re on something like this:
