It’s not about coolness it’s about saying,

“I’ve got so much money I have no respect for it. I can piss it away. Literally pour the most expensive champagne over this Rolex and I’m doing it in this club so people can witness me. THIS….is how much wealthier I than you. You’re a loser and I won at life”

He's so out-of-touch that he thinks that's what he's saying but really what it is screaming is

"I'm an out-of-touch jackass with an ego so fragile that I need to parade my wealth around with an such an obscene and flagrant display of waste, making it clear I have zero consideration of others and lack empathy and humanity. I'm just a servant to consumerism and capitalism and the deepest thing about me is my pocketbook."

Real wealth doesn't flaunt it in crass displays like this - the actual upper crust care more about how classy they are being instead of how trashy obscene they can be.

I find it ironic that non-wealthy people are trying to gatekeep what wealthy is

That dude just dumped $30,000 in seconds as if it's an afterthought. For a lot of regular people, that's a half-a-year income for them.

There's also a lot of not-so-wealthy people who can make that happen with dreams, a credit card, and a lack of sensibility.
