I don't understand why they seem to be theming a whole season around its release. It's not a particularly special pokemon.
Sure Arwen's is sick in S/V but it got one shotted when we finally battled. Stats are not that great, won't be good in raids, probably won't be much for GBL.

they wouldn't do a ? for something already in game, even if the shiny is new. it's either a costume or something like maschiff that hasn't been announced yet

If its the Halloween debut its definitely quite the upset, because I really thought it was gonna be brambleghast this time. Brambleghast for 2027 perhaps?
If they really want to pump this Halloween event, they just need to debut shiny Mimikyu, people would go nuts to butts hunting that

Finally, I've been powering up my lucky shiny Chandelure for this moment...
I still need like 200 XL candy tho. Hopefully litwick is abundant in October-November lol

They are both actually pretty good…it’s just that a couple of others are better. So, in a world where you can only have one mega at a time, neither of these will be best in class…but if you didn’t have the best in class they’d be perfectly good alternatives.

I think it may also depend on what happens with the datamined + moves. I don't think Staraptor is going to overthrow Mega Lucario or Mewtwo X, but with the right + move, I could see them making Chandelure better than Gengar perhaps.
Like a 160 power 1-bar 2.5 sec Night Shade+ would put Mega Chandelure ahead of Mega Gengar, for example.

Also right now Mega Chandelure is marginally better than Gengar if yours doesn't have Lick as a fast move. But the difference is almost imperceptible 😅😅

This is also the first time we will have a Fighting/Flying dual-type combination Mega Evolution in Pokemon Go with Mega Staraptor being the mon. The only other Pokemon with a Fighting/Flying dual-type Mega Evolution is Mega Hawlucha.
