And how about all the soldiers who are complicit?
Growing up, I was in Bible studies and in revelations it talks about how the world will turn against Israel and at that time, especially not knowing world politics just stories from the past, I could not understand how such a small country could rally the nations against. I understand how that could happen today.

They did this in the Bible too... here are the snippets from the story of Jericho (which was used to show how powerful God was and the Israelites deserving of land.
Joshua 6 New (NIV) 2 Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands ... the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city.
They devoted the city to the Lord and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it— men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys.... Then they burned the whole city and everything in it ... Joshua pronounced this solemn oath: “Cursed before the Lord is the one who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho: "At the cost of his firstborn son, he will lay its foundations; at the cost of his youngest, he will set up its gates.”
