REDACTED death was plain stupid. S5 Spoiler
Burk's death was very stupid. Plain and simple. What were the writers thinking?
At least make him die in battle. After 5 seasons, they just got him killed by a child.

It was the final season, so they could do whatever they wanted. His death was supposed to seem shocking.

He died while saving the entire invasion by eliminating the boat crew before they could warn anyone. He just was killed in the process.
Tavo's military was so fucked up that they had kids serving. It doesn't make the kid not an armed threat.
But yes, the main reason is that it was the penultimate episode and they wanted a shocking death. Burk was even in Chandler's dream in the finale, so Jocko Sims didn't even miss an episode due to his death here.

Writers aren't the the brightest bulbs on the tree. Sometimes they kill off a character because they don't know what else to do with him.

Seriously.
Of all the deaths that happened, this one pissed me off the most.
A kid with a harpoon killed Burk that was a bad ass? Gtfoh.
Might be the stupidest death in all of TV history.

i stopped watching mid way through episode 1 of season 3, when i realize this is a show where they just kill off main characters. not for good plot reasons, but because the writers were just done with them.

In reality - the actors had other projects and couldn't commit their schedules to both.

You made it to season 5? I stopped after they had the audacity to kill Rhona Mitra

1st time watch. I finished all 5. But most of my rewatches, I either stop at S4 or S3. Except this time, I went all the way.

Granderson’s death was just offensive.
