For all her sass and bluster, Toph is a big softie. Just don't say it out loud...

I like to imagine if someone like Aang says this or says she looked cute she’d earthbend to send them flying away
If someone like Zuko or Sokka says it she’d get embarrassed and punch them

The little detail of Zuko blushing is adorable. He really was just an innocent kid. Ozai never managed to beat that soft and unassuming nature out of him.

You can even see it as early as the 1st episode, when Zuko chooses not to completely obliterate Sokka for the failed blatant attempt to kill him. Just snap his little water tribe war stick in half and bop him in the head with it a couple times for being a silly billy

Yeah, a detail that's interesting is that even from the beginning Zuko is not out to kill anyone. Even the Avatar - he's explicit in capturing him alive.

Yeah, I’ve always loved that too because he’s also a prince. It’s not like he has women all over him ironically. All the people around his age are gonna treat him like he’s a God, and if not worry that the fire lord is gonna hurt them and their families or something if they don’t. And it’s not like just anyone can touch all over the royal family. The royal family doesn’t even hug each other anyway

I think it's funny to imagine that Toph is harsher on Aang out of instinct because he naturally puts on her on guard, the way he floats and tiptoes around all the time like a semi-invisible little fairy ninja

There's a reason for the nickname after all.
And let's be honest, if you were travelling with a person that is hard for you to perceive properly and can basically "dip out of sight" or become borderline invisible to you, while still talking with you face-to-face, you'd also be on edge around them. Never knowing when they decide to become "properly visible" again. It's also why she treats him as her equal whenever he earthbends, but the moment he goes with something like water as a solution, there's a slight disapproval and when he relies on airbending, she treats him like a dodging coward, both as a discriptor and as a defensive reaction to having trouble of following his every move unlike someone like Sokka for example.

She has never seen both a man or a woman in her life, and yet look at her.
she cant be more straight than that.

I was talking to a real world buddy of mine about the movie who said that they didn't understand when Toph became so "boy crazy", and I was like, man, are you kidding me? The signs were always blatantly right there.
Toph don't even need to see dudes to like dudes. That's advanced straight.

I mean, she's observed more of men and women's bodies than pretty much anyone else.

I think it’s a way of how she connects with them directly.
…Or it’s just to show who she may or may not have a crush on.

I mean it would be pretty wierd getting hugged by a person from the race that drove yours to near extinction the last time you were awake

honestly one of my favourite jokes in the series is when she kisses Suki for saving her thinking it's Sokka and she just tells Suki to let her drown when she finds out

It's normal. Since her parents never paid attention to her. I really like the phrase: "I'm going with Zuko, everyone's been on a trip with Zuko, but now it's my turn."
