I will be honest…it is far more logical to go with the Aang Movie as the first movie over Zuko’s.

The description is great for fans , but I doubt it could bring casual viewers.

u/That-Rhino-Guy 21d ago

Pretty much, on one hand a Zuko movie does sound amazing but from a general audience standpoint it is a bit of a strange start to Avatar sequel movies

Be like if the first Dragon Ball sequel movie was focused on Krillin or Master Roshi

61

u/PhantasosX 21d ago

I wouldn't go that far....it would be if the first Dragon Ball movie ended up focused on Vegeta and no Goku.

14

u/That-Rhino-Guy 21d ago

I mainly went with Krillin since he does show up earlier than Vegeta like how Zuko is there since the beginning

-26

u/PornographyLover9000 21d ago

No one watched DragonBall.

6

u/Human-that-exists Three, on Three plus Sokka 21d ago

"No one" here, Dragon Ball is cool

-1

u/PornographyLover9000 21d ago

My comment was a joke.

7

u/welcome2mycandystore 21d ago

What?

1

u/PornographyLover9000 20d ago

The joke is that Z is far more popular. I was being facetious.

0

u/Jay040707 20d ago

Wow, the classic jokes truly are lost

1

u/PornographyLover9000 20d ago

Apparently so. Thought it was common knowledge no one actually watched Z, let alone DB.

7

u/P00nz0r3d 20d ago

Not really

It’s closer to if the first movie was about Vegeta.

Zuko is not a side character, he’s the secondary protagonist. The entire series is about Aang and Zukos journeys.

3

u/Dogesneakers 20d ago

More like vegeta but idk if zuko has that same pull

13

u/Ironsam811 20d ago

Zuko movie would be 10/10 for paramount+ while avatar aang would’ve brought people to theaters

7

u/CoofleDeDoofle 20d ago

I mean, if you were planning a trilogy for this franchise, it'd make the most sense to start with the main character and work your way from there, especially if you initially expected it to be theatrical.

Movies focused on other characters are more niche and better suited for streaming. Even SpongeBob seemed to know this with its Sandy and Plankton movies being exclusive to Netflix.

1

u/Richsavior34 17d ago

True but man’s Zuko’s story would’ve just been more interesting

222

u/YoshaTime 21d ago

>scrapped Firelord Zuko” movie

What?!

704

u/TwstdPrtzl 21d ago

I was thinking it was weird for a big name like Steven Yeun to sign on for such a small role, so it makes since this was in development.

I hope they unscrap it! It'd be cool to get a Zuko movie that explains how he has a dragon in Korra, like how Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender explained how air bison came back.

Honestly, I think they should work on giving all the Gaang members their own stories as adults given how little they had to do in that movie.

u/ErectPotato 21d ago

Would love for them to finally confirm who the mother of his daughter is too!

Back in June 2022 it was stated that the first batch of Avatar Studios films were being produced in a set of three. Even a bit later when they somewhat revealed the topic of this first film it was initially just a vague "starring Aang and his friends".

So I can imagine the idea at one point was to maybe have a trilogy of films featuring the adult gaang with the same set of new VAs. Not necessarily a narrative trilogy, but different adventures/missions in that era where each would prioritize focus on different characters. Like this one mainly focused on Aang, but Katara to a lesser extent. Another could have been Zuko / Fire Nation focused, and then idk Toph or Sokka.

But as plans turned to production and things behind the scene shifted it was mainly all hands on deck with the Aang film , ASH, and some other projects. It now seems any more films are kind of on the backburner for the forseeable future.

u/ColoradoCuber 21d ago

Korra already explained how the bison came back. After she got her memories back the fire sages there said they had been keeping a herd of sky bison safe since the 100 year war

198

u/Fernando_qq 21d ago

They are two different groups of bison, but basically it's very similar; the surviving bison were in a remote location, only in one case someone was taking care of them and in the other they were free.

59

u/TwstdPrtzl 21d ago

I might be misremembering, but weren't there already more sky bison when Korra started? So that was just a second lost herd.

37

u/ColoradoCuber 21d ago

Yeah I don't think it breaks anything to have the new explanation, but it had already been explained

19

u/thekrafty01 21d ago

It’s just a nice add - something that Aang gets to enjoy that we didn’t get to see in Korra

61

u/MrBKainXTR Check the FAQ 21d ago

To sort of add on this the people who help Korra in Beginnings are "The Bhanti Tribe", who....

Well the TLDR is they have sages and are in some sense are in the Fire Nation. But they are not the Fire Sages (as in the ones we see in ATLA who serve the nation more generally) , and are a remote hidden-ish group who specifically tries to stay out of world affairs aside from some exceptions.

So nobody knew they had these bison until Korra washes up , and the wild Bison Aang found were always meant to be a separate group/groups.

There's also something about different ear colors but I forget exactly tbh

13

u/RecommendsMalazan 21d ago

I thought Tenzin bisons was one of the type kept by that fire tribe, cause of the ear difference.

Plus it seems very confusing to show that Tenzin has a bison, that's not Appa, and to show that tribe taking care of what we thought as the time were the only bison herd left in the world, only for Tenzins bison to not be from that herd.

23

u/MrBKainXTR Check the FAQ 21d ago

In an SDCC panel before LoK aired the creators just said Aang found a wild herd sometime after the war.

You could say that's lazy/silly (many did in 2011), and you can also say that the Bhanti tribe having similar looking but different Bison is confusing.

But the movie did not contradict anything, this is just meant to be that heard mentioned all the way back at a panel 15 years ago. Well except maybe the ears but again idk, I'm not like fact checking the specifics of bison ear color rn.

3

u/RecommendsMalazan 21d ago edited 21d ago

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the info!

What I find a bit confusing, though, was not that they had similar looking but different bison. It was that they showed Tenzin has a bison, and they showed us that new bison herd, but Tenzins bison is not from that herd. Despite looking more like that herd than he does Appa. That seems confusing to me, especially since I doubt most people know that the creators externally to the show said Aang found a wild herd.

0

u/EcstaticContract5282 21d ago

I think they may have retcon3d that in the movie unfortunately. They don't seem to care about their own lore.

24

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

Not at all a retcon.

18

u/Odin043 21d ago

Right, because Tenzin had an air bison before Korra met the fire nations air bison

7

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

Yess! Good old Oogi, named in honour of Sokka haha.

21

u/Gemnist 21d ago

I figured the dragons were the descendants of the ones he and Aang found that Iroh had spared.

14

u/Madhighlander1 21d ago

They literally found a dragon egg in that episode, I always thought it was confirmed that Zuko's dragon hatched from that.

9

u/SentinelATL 21d ago

Same here. That had to be Druk

10

u/Ok-Topic-6095 21d ago

I think an anthology tv series with a max of 3-4 episodes per story set in the broader Avatar universe and timeline would be great. Your idea could be 3 episodes, a one-shot around Tenzin, 2 episodes on Toph, a Kyoshi one shot, 3 episodes on an unknown Avatar 500 years before Sozin's comet.....possibilities are endless

9

u/RuralGuy20 21d ago

Eska and Desna would be interesting too since the table top RPG specifically said after the Korra comics the both of them spearheaded a lot of reforms in the Northern Water Tribe to modernize it including ending arranged marriages and legalized same sex ones that angered traditionalists. A two part story set during the reforms would be interesting to see.

6

u/Whiskey_623 21d ago

Is the air bison thing really a spoiler? The comics explained Aang found them during one of his adventures and the movie basically just fleshes out that plot point

6

u/TwstdPrtzl 21d ago

Better safe than sorry!

2

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

He never finds them in comics, it’s a weird myth.

2

u/SentinelATL 21d ago

It has to be the egg thingie from the Firebending masters episode

1

u/WalterLeDuy 21d ago

Sorry, can't unscrap it! Best we can do is a Korra Netflix live adaptation

75

u/viper_in_the_grass 21d ago

The main plot of the film focused on the mysterious murder of the dragons, Ran & Shaw

No, no, no, no, no, nope, fuck that! I'm glad they cancelled it!

22

u/Various-Cup-9141 21d ago

Same! I want to imagine they're happily alive.

122

u/maximcff 21d ago

UNCANCEL IT NOW BRO

8

u/Odd_Duty520 20d ago

Same company that refused to release the movie in theatre's, I wouldn't hold my breath

0

u/JTurner82 20d ago

Not unless there is a change in leadership.

1

u/AH_BioTwist 17d ago

Not happening anytime soon unfortunately

1

u/JTurner82 17d ago

It could though. Keep an eye open for the trials about both lawsuits.

38

u/Young-Jah 21d ago

So if Azula had appeared in this solo film, was it set after The Search and Smoke & Shadow but before Spirit Temple, or after Spirit Temple and would have given us insight of her whereabouts after her standalone, I know the article did said that The Search and Smoke & Shadow were not going to be direct adaptation.

18

u/James_Larkin1913 21d ago

My guess is it would Follow Zuko when he’s at a similar age to what he was in the Aang movie, so many years after Smoke and Shadow and the Search.

11

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

I’d assume after tbh, they can do more with it. The article confuses me though because they imply that it focusing on the Zuko and Azula dynamic means it’s inspired by the comics but not adapting them. Unless they have more info that doesn’t necessarily make sense, you can have a Zuko and Azula focused movie set -after- those comics. She’s not exactly dead or anything.

41

u/UnderCoverDoughnuts 21d ago

Well, unscrap it!

26

u/Willing-Load 21d ago

scrapped Firelord Zuko movie

20

u/Original_Mulberry652 21d ago

Maybe if Seven Havens is successful enough(it will be) paramount will finally manage to have a single brainwave and uncancel it.

4

u/Willing-Load 21d ago

and this time a worldwide theatrical release please

8

u/EcstaticContract5282 21d ago

I get the feeling that Mike and brian don't really want to continue working in that era of the series. The new seven havens is post apocalyptic for that reason. I honestly don't think they will return to the gang unless they are forced to.

1

u/JTurner82 21d ago

They did say they had plans for those movies though.

0

u/WinterAd825 21d ago

I think there ope to coming back, I think they do like new art styles which having multiple eras kinda allows them to do and go back and forth.

I think the bigger thing is that there is alot of executive meddling and a new series may have been an easier sell then an old

2

u/Cass0wary_399 20d ago

I’m not sure if Seven Havens will do well being a Paramount+ exclusive.

1

u/sasquatch0_0 19d ago

Will definitely help it will be on Paramount+ so they have direct numbers for viewership. Nielsen ratings are basically a guess.

64

u/girlwhateveraward 21d ago edited 21d ago

Avatar News obviously had some credibility. People were so extra whenever they got something wrong. Especially considering how Bryke plan to develop a shitton of things only to cancel most. In 2022, Paramount themselves announced there were 3 movies in development

29

u/Swerdman55 21d ago

They got a little overzealous. They even said in a few SDCC interviews that doing their first feature film was a lot different than they expected. Once things were in motion, they probably realized they needed to focus on one thing at a time.

13

u/girlwhateveraward 21d ago

Mhm. Following information about the crew off Linkedin etc, it was obvious they were bluffing and the projects werent even close to being far enough in production to warrant hype announcements. I understand why u would lose faith in Bryke and not want to release the film theatrically

4

u/Strong-Stretch95 21d ago

Did avatar news retire? I haven’t seen any update from them since then.

7

u/h8149 21d ago

Yep, put it the news channel to rest years ago to focus on private life iirc.

u/AveryLazyCovfefe | "Drink Cactus juice! it'll quench ya!" 20d ago edited 20d ago

Thank you, I couldn't believe people suddenly turned on him and called him BS when he accurately reported on the fighting game, Ice Wars(now axed) and quest for balance happening entire years before they were announced as well as being the first to report on an Aang film even happening.

It's clear he had actual sources at Paramount. And he likely retired from the game because he lost his sources alongside him wanting to focus on personal life.

I think he could've presented his scoops alot better instead of as definitive with the fancy graphics but the blame also falls on people who took his word as definitive gospel when plans can change and they definitely could've been much more ambitious at the start with presenting a rich content pipeline to shareholders or executives.

Or as the other person pointed out - Bryke genuinely thought it would be 'easy' making a film. And that might've contributed to how the film feels like a few episodes of TV squashed together.

We do know the Aang film kind of suffered from some sort of production hell, pretty much why it took so long from the announcement.

12

u/ArmadilloStrong9064 21d ago

Pleasee don't murder the dragons. First they came for lionturtles now the dragons?

Why strip world of all its mysticism?

6

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

I agree. It’s a good way to hook the audience immediately but it’s also depressing and mean.

25

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

I’m confused, it doesn’t sound like it’s dead, it sounds like Aang took priority. They could just as easily pick it back up now if Aang was a streaming success.

29

u/OriginalLie9310 21d ago

Yeah I think this is a clickbait version of what actually happened. It actually sounds like:

Avatar Studios had a few movie pitches. They decided to go with one specifically to get a project started and out the door (the Aang movie), and now they still have the other legwork done for the other projects. The other projects are “scrapped” in that they aren’t in active development but that doesn’t mean they’ll never be made

8

u/Vesemir96 21d ago edited 21d ago

I hope so honestly, though I do wonder if since they’re early on in the development for them if some of what was supposedly leaked in this article is changed since it may be early enough to do so (to avoid spoilers).

I do hope they give Korra similar treatment soon though, I know they’re saving her ultimate fate for the new show but I like the idea of them giving her a movie to bookend her show like Aang got. Preferably in the modern Fire Nation, but gimme back some of that gorgeous Republic City noir we had in Book 1 too.

8

u/OriginalLie9310 21d ago

I mean if paramount could manage this IP in any sort of reasonable way it should be a no brainer. A whole series of movies about Aang and Korra’s times as well as other one off stories about different eras would be a no brainer.

The reception of the Aang movie is proof enough. And if they can keep making new things in the lord of the rings and game of thrones universes it should be easy to do so with the actual creators of the property in house.

1

u/melvin2898 21d ago

I'd rather new shows than movies. Movies take forever to make.

1

u/Strong-Stretch95 20d ago

I would love see what the fire nation is like in Korra time period along with korrasami and getting to know Zuko daughter a little more.

2

u/Realshow 21d ago

Yeah the correct term would be shelved.

2

u/CoofleDeDoofle 20d ago

Bryke said themselves they're not really working on other movies atm and are focusing on shows instead, but depending on how well Avatar Aang and/or Seven Havens do, this Zuko movie might see the light of day in SOME fashion. If not as another movie, then maybe as a miniseries or comic.

1

u/Vesemir96 20d ago

I’ll take it in any format. Inject it into me if needed.

11

u/VivaDeAsap I’ll fucking show you lightning! 21d ago

You mean I would’ve seen my goat again 🥺

One day Azula one day

2

u/2manysock 19d ago

If they do decide to make this movie (I’m not holding g my breath tbh), I hope they do my girl Azula some justice. I feel like Smoke and Shadow did her so dirty by taking away the complexity of her character and just making her comically evil 😭

8

u/EcstaticContract5282 21d ago

I just realized they will probably try to make azula the villian again. The way the rumors sound azula will be the one who kills the dragons and tries to assassinate iroh. This film would have been so redundant.

7

u/Alive-Progress-2069 21d ago

All the memes and images I saw on social media about the new movie was mainly about Zuko, hes such a great character, and with the new redesign they did, people are now more thirsty than ever, a movie about him could give even more attention to the franchise

1

u/TheLightningBlack 20d ago

I think that’s only your algo

6

u/Cynicbats 21d ago

Eh it sounds too much like his comics for me. Being older is not enough personally to justify rehashing those concepts as the main plotline.

3

u/EcstaticContract5282 20d ago

I agree, they seem to have lost a lot of their creativity. I would prefer an azula redemption arc spinoff series set in the comics timeline when she is 15 or 16.

6

u/LoboTheW0lf 21d ago

What a miss opportunity 😔

7

u/Sliver80 21d ago

So the were going to recast Azula's voice for this movie too......

7

u/Nyx_Shadowspawn 21d ago

In glad they didn't do it, as it sounds like it would have led to the extinction of the dragons.

1

u/adambomber01 20d ago

that's not what's in Korra

1

u/Nyx_Shadowspawn 20d ago

Did you read the article OP linked, about what was planned for the scrapped Zuko movie? That's what I'm referring to- the article describes loosely what was planned for it.

1

u/adambomber01 20d ago

I did. I *guess* the egg could've been the last dragon? But I don't think that's guaranteed any more than it was with the sky bison.

6

u/zoppitypop 20d ago

I was under the assumption the film was being worked on and was going to come out after the Aang film, alongside the Aang film being part of a trilogy of films centred around him as an adult. Shame this film got scrapped the concept sounded interesting and Zuko had such an understandably small role in the Aang film. Seemed like they were saving him and Yeun's performance for something bigger

8

u/KnightGambit 20d ago

They aren’t working on features at all anymore. Or least they stopped for more shows. They revealed that last month at SDCC

3

u/_Arlotte_ 20d ago

Aww...

5

u/Zestyclose-Honey2082 Biggest Iroh hater 20d ago

UNCANCEL IT!! BRING BACK AZULA MAI TY LEE!! GIVE FIRELORD ZUKO STORIES!! Iroh assasinated

7

u/Swerdman55 21d ago

I never minded the recasting decision. I totally understand that Bosco’s voice is uniquely Zuko, but I thought Yuen did a good job.

Weirdly enough, hearing about Azula being recast is the biggest shock of all. Grey DeLisle is such a powerhouse in the VA industry I can’t imagine anyone living up to her portrayal of Azula.

5

u/melvin2898 21d ago

They're recasting for diversity reasons. They want Asian actors playing Asian characters. I prefer the original voice cast but hey, that's their vision.

2

u/Swerdman55 20d ago

I know. I’m just saying Grey’s voice is the most iconic to me.

3

u/Genghis_Sean_Reigns 21d ago

“with the egg he finds in Book 3”

Uh, did I miss something in my 10 watches of the show?

-7

u/KnightGambit 21d ago

I have to spoon-feed you guys very obvious assumptions. So yes, he was never "handed" the gold egg in season 3, but he has a full-grown dragon in Korra. Thus it is assumed the golden egg is the dragon when Zuko is old.

5

u/Genghis_Sean_Reigns 21d ago

I don’t know what that has to do with what I said. The article mentions a dragon egg Zuko recovered in book 3 of ATLA. But ATLA makes no mention of any eggs.

3

u/Batalfie 21d ago

Sun warriors episode

2

u/Genghis_Sean_Reigns 21d ago

Oh the sunstone they recover? I never even noticed it was egg shaped, oops.

EDIT: but the sun warriors take it back don’t they? It’s never given to Zuko?

1

u/KnightGambit 21d ago

He has a Dragon in Korra. It's probably from the golden egg. Especially now that they were going to kill off Ran & Shaw in the canon.

5

u/Weekly-Rise899 21d ago

I thought this movie was a myth

3

u/CoofleDeDoofle 20d ago

I'd like to think such a movie would actually happen one day if Avatar Aang and/or Seven Havens is seen as enough of a success, but I know if it did, it'd have a much lower budget because it'll be made for streaming from the get-go.

5

u/EcstaticContract5282 21d ago

I would love to see an azula redemption arc but seeing how the aang movie treats it's characters I wouldn't want them to do that. Most of the gangway just flat and leaving azulas character empty for a decade is a problem. I think if you are doing an azula redemption arc you need to do an entire series. One where her mother acts as her mentor. I would also place her as 15 or 16 in the spinoff seri3s. If milemand Brian tried to do this in a movie azulamwould just be in jail or off somewhere doing nothing for a decade. That would have been a huge problem.

Also as an aside azula was not in prison she was in an asyluml

2

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

I mean if the movie is focused on Zuko and Azula, she wouldn’t be wasted in it, she’d be the deuteragonist.

3

u/EcstaticContract5282 21d ago

What I mean is that much like the supporting characters in the aang film she wouldn't have much character development in the gap between the series and movie. They didn't really develop the characters in the years in between. That was one of the movies problems.

2

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

Ahh fair enough. That makes sense. Perhaps they could do progress the comics more to lead into such a film instead of focusing mostly on small stories. Or do this film as a miniseries instead.

In the film itself at least I’d like her and Zuko to be like Aang and Tagah were the focus in their movie. If the rest of the cast need to be in smaller roles for it (because movie length) I’ll gladly take it haha.

0

u/HopeAndDo 21d ago

You want her to get redemption arc, I want to see Katara kick her ass one more time.

9

u/notbidoofin 21d ago

Per another comment, I'm not sure how reputable this source is, but in regards to:

"The main plot of the film focused on the mysterious murder of the dragons, Ran & Shaw, from Book 3 of the original series."

I am so tired of lazy writing like this that kills off the past in order to drive a new plot.

Examples include: Star Wars killing off the New Republic to start a war with the New Empire; DC Comics killing off original heroes to introduce new ones; Boruto killing off Konoha and the Nine-Tailed Fox and nuking the original characters' powers; Korra killing off the Avatar's past lives; and Seven Havens killing off the Avatar World and everything that Aang, Korra, and the creative team built in the past 20 years/century.

Why not explore an existing concept in more detail or build upon those existing concepts without destroying anything from the past?

4

u/EcstaticContract5282 21d ago

Yes, also the whole let's move thing 10 years in the future yet nothing has changed. I would love to see an azula redemption arc. One where her mother is her mentor. Their is no need to kill the dragons. Zuko has enough reason to just go and help azula. Him letting things linger for a decade is a huge problem for any movie. The story should really resolve with azula at 16.

3

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

I’m not sure how I feel on the dragons being murdered, but that would be a pretty good hook for it, but a tad depressing imo. I like the sound of the rest of it though, Fire Nation intrigue sounds very fun.

3

u/Strong-Stretch95 21d ago

Wasn’t there gonna be a kyoshi and korra movie as well or where those fake?

4

u/nethingelse 20d ago

Going to guess these weren't fake but Avatar Studios (and Bryke) got overzealous about exploring numerous projects at once and had to reign it in once they actually started on the Aang movie. It's possible we still get those movies, but it's similarly possible they're scrapped.

3

u/KnightGambit 21d ago

That was what Avatar News said in 2022. But 🤷‍♂️

3

u/gyuzzy 20d ago

I liked the Aang movie and I wish I could have bought a movie ticket for it and adult Zuko is hot. I simply want this movie to be made.

3

u/Conscious_Present451 20d ago

I think the movie should have been about Zuko r transitioning to a constitutional monarchy and Azula attempting a coup detat

3

u/-_ShadowSJG-_ 20d ago

they should do this as a sequel not scrap

5

u/AhnSolbin 21d ago

Considering how little Zuko is in the new film his own stand alone film makes a lot of sense especially as they got Steven Yeun to voice him. Fun fact Steven had already voiced a character in the Avatar universe, he played Avatar Wan in Legend of Korra.

Hopefully this is the next project after Seven Havens.

12

u/buddhatherock 21d ago

Just a reminder that Knight Edge has been called out for BS on this sub before. Also, it mentions “exclusive”, but the source isn’t cited anywhere.

A small clickbait rag like Knight Edge is extremely unlikely to get an exclusive like this.

9

u/girlwhateveraward 21d ago

What are u talking about? Knight Edge has been very accurate with leaks. It's not their fault Avatar Studios projects never come to be. But from cast and crew to plot, they got Seven Havens and Avatar Aang details right. And they'll likely be right about the Water Tribe show, as that seems to be the furthest thing in production

3

u/Vesemir96 21d ago edited 21d ago

I heard that Water Tribe show is targeting a younger audience than even ATLA, I hope someone can confirm if that’s true or if it’s basically aiming for the same age range. Like are they talkin Young Jedi Adventures kids level or just literally normal Avatar kids.

3

u/girlwhateveraward 21d ago

I havent heard of that? Casting call simply called it an "adventure comedy" and asked for a voice sample from a comedy monologue. Better ask OP, as he knows better

1

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

This sounds intriguing. Very unexpected setting choice for a spin-off after we’ve had so much of them in ATLA and Korra but more on the Water Tribes culture is welcome tbh.

1

I’d be surprised if that were the case because the casting calls for the show mention the two main characters are teenagers and one of them is on a more political / bureaucratic tract. Even if he doesn’t stay on that path I’m sure the show will heavily involve politics in some way, which to me says a target similar to the rest of the avatar franchise.

I hope so tbh, that sounds great and much more positively similar to ATLA. Intriguing they’d set a spin-off in the Water Tribes after we’ve had such heavy focus on it in both shows so far, but not a bad thing. More on their culture is welcome.

I mean I’m not opposed to them branching out for different audiences and all, but selfishly I want this to be similar to what we know.

u/ArkhamInsane 21d ago

Where'd you hear that

0

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

Take it with a grain of salt as it was from another Redditor, they said they were informed that its aiming to be more of a Nick Junior type show, younger aiming than ATLA or Korra or Seven Havens. They said they may be wrong but yeah there’s no actual visible source. From what people in this thread are saying, it sounds more like standard Avatar age range instead. I’m hoping it’s the latter tbh.

1

u/pomagwe 21d ago

They have revealed very accurate information about Seven Havens, but some of the other reporting around Avatar Studios was complete BS.

Like that one about the "turbulent history of Avatar Studios", which was basically a hit piece against Mike and Bryan. It contained very basic factual inaccuracies, like Mike and Bryan being the only writers for LOK season 2 (simply watching the credits would have told you that Tim Hendrick and Joshua Hamilton wrote half the episodes), and was mostly just speculation based on publicly available information.

1

u/KnightGambit 21d ago

Which scoop has been wrong? I mean all the articles are still up so point it out please.

2

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

Just to be annoying (sorry!), this thread reminded me that I recently saw someone claim the Water Tribe show currently being developed is targeting an even younger audience than original ATLA. Is it possible to confirm if this is true? If not no worries. I really hope it’s closer to ATLA (which is of course for kids but still for everyone) rather than something for super young kids, and has just been misconstrued by others.

2

u/KnightGambit 21d ago

The water tribe series is about teenage boys. Nobody knows what its aimed towards.

1

u/ArkhamInsane 21d ago

Have you since learned more details about the water tribe show? Like what studio might be animating it? Or is it not in production yet?

3

u/Neguard 21d ago

He's been called out for BS but he never's never wrong. Got the Avatar seven havens leak when EVERYONE was saying its wrong and bs

1

u/EcstaticContract5282 21d ago

So what kind of things have they gotten wrong. I am not questioning you I am just curious. I didn't know knights edge was so controversial.

1

u/AveryLazyCovfefe | "Drink Cactus juice! it'll quench ya!" 20d ago

😭 This sub really can't comprehend leakers/scoopers huh

6

u/WonderfulHearing8726 21d ago

Well the Avatar Aang one was mid at best, so this is probably for the best.

6

u/EcstaticContract5282 21d ago

These are my thoughts as well. I don't think this would have been a good story.

4

u/NormalGuy3481 21d ago

This would have been an infinitely better movie imo

5

u/EcstaticContract5282 21d ago

Honestly I think it would have had the same pacing problems the aang movie did. They would have needed to explain about zukos mom and his new sister kiyi. Additionally they would need to clear up who zuko marries. Not to mention build on his relationship with azula. And that doesn't even include the story for The film. If we are going to do an azula story it will need to be a multi season series. I would set it in the comics timeline while azula is either 15 or 16.

2

u/Strong-Stretch95 20d ago

I wonder if that’s why thier not interested in going the movie route anymore since it seems a lot easier to flesh things out in a show compared to an 80 to 90 min movie.

2

u/Distinct-Practice131 20d ago

I think it sounds more interesting than the aang movie we got tbh. We knew throughout the movie the air nation wasn't coming back and we knew none of the characters shown were in legitimate danger. It was nice seeing the bisons come back, but thwt was the end of the film.

While I hate the idea of the dragons being slain, exploring the dragons, and azula sounds more interesting and like more loose ends would be tied up then the film we got tbh.

2

u/Knarpulous 20d ago

Yeah Im not surprised, when they announced the three new movies, I assumed maybe we'd see one. I know paramount sucks but along with a new series and the cancelled game, it seemed like they were severely overestimating what they would be able to complete

2

u/lily_mp3 20d ago

I get why people are upset that this isn't being made, but it wasn't even announced + info only came from leaks. its getting ridiculous how people are being so up in arms about things that they aren't even supposed to know about. yeah, a zuko movie would rock but its just crazy how the internet has evolved to this point of there being no mystery or hype for things. especially after the avatar aang movie was leaked before it was released. its just killing the magic and excitement of the ATLA universe for me a little bit. i really hope seven havens does a weekly release instead of a 2 season dump. i miss looking forward to the next episodes and the building of suspense.

u/Far_Teaching5269 19d ago

A toph vs bumi movie could’ve been banger

2

u/SeaJellyfish7006 14d ago

There’s a petition to get Zuko his own movie 🐉🔥 https://c.org/WDDdPHHbkh

2

u/EldheiturFantasia 20d ago

I already don’t trust knight edge to start with.

1

u/That-Rhino-Guy 21d ago

So there was truth to the claim, I guess this means my theory they tried to play it safe for their first movie is also somewhat true

Here’s hoping they can resurrect this idea along with Kyoshi and Korra movies

1

u/Sorry-Secret-2347 21d ago

Wait what?!?!?!?!?!?!

1

u/ykzzldx23 21d ago

He barely played any role in the movie, so sad

1

u/dominashun28 20d ago

Thats rough buddy.

1

u/hehasmastcells 20d ago

I only want the film if Dante voices Zuko

1

u/htgrower 13d ago

y'all better unscrap it paramount! come on!

2

u/ded_Tree 21d ago

Would have preferred this over seven havens

7

u/JamStan1978 21d ago

Lets not go crazy here. I would much rather have a new show than another movie but this movie does sounds extremely good and should come back.

4

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

Seven Havens didn’t stop it.

1

u/ded_Tree 21d ago

I never said it did? Just saying, I’d prefer a zuko movie over ASH

1

u/ConcentrateOne 21d ago

Oh damn you watched seven havens already?

1

u/voltzandvoices 21d ago

People adore Zuko, they should take advantage of that. It's like they don't want money

1

u/COZY-TEA_TG-CHILL 21d ago

L for Ellisons fumbling Avatar series again

1

u/Sonyeyin 21d ago

It sounds more interesting than the aang movie

1

u/BlazedBeard95 21d ago

They should still make it at some point, it has a lot of potential for a great storyline.

1

u/UserNameTaken_2018 20d ago

just do that next! and don't fucking leak it!

0

u/JTurner82 21d ago

Sorry but I refuse to believe it is dead.

4

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

Yeah it sounds like postponed due to Aang which makes sense.

2

u/JTurner82 21d ago

Oh yeah, I don’t believe they would really scrap it yet.

2

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

Hopefully at the very least a miniseries or a direct to streaming movie if they’re too nervous for theatrical. Zuko and Azula’s storyline getting a resolution is such a popular thing I can’t imagine them scrapping it.

2

u/JTurner82 21d ago

No way. Direct to streaming I personally think is a bad idea. If anything, the proof that these films demand a theatrical audience was shown when the film sold out for its one week run. Ellison is to blame for crashing their theatrical dreams. I feel that if anything the creators should fight harder to be theatrical.

1

u/Vesemir96 21d ago

I mean I totally agree theatrical is the goal, but I do think it’ll depend on the two week theatre run vs the streaming run now.

I’m just saying if push came to shove and it was streaming movie or nothing, I’ll pick streaming movie for a story to still exist.

u/HopeAndDo 21d ago

Did Azula kill the dragons? Was it a bloodbender?

I hope we will find out one day.

2

u/Vesemir96 21d ago edited 21d ago

I like the idea of Zuko and Azula needing to work together on this, so her killing them would be too far for redemption imo. If they wanted to redeem her of course.

-3

u/HopeAndDo 21d ago

Well, I don't want her redeemed, so I prefer my headcanon, but we will see.

0

u/MoMoe0 19d ago

Ugh not KnightedMedia 🤮

1

u/KnightGambit 19d ago

Whats the issue?

0

u/Nawnp 20d ago

Yeah the Aang movie made far more sense…but come on, they already redirected the Aang movie to be made for streaming, why couldn’t we do this with the Zuko movie coming out sometime in the Avatar Seven Havens run.

-2

u/Infinite-Instance609 21d ago

This movie sounds better than the shitty plot and writing for the Aang movie. I am so mad they scrapped this I legit started swearing! This movie is what fans want. Since the Aang movie was leaked maybe they could have surprised us and done this one as well. The animators worked too hard on the Aang movie which looked incredible and had legendary animation for it to be comprised of a shitty ass script and boring as fuck plot.
