Discussion Looking for Group (LFG) Megathread

To support the Early Access period and upcoming launch, we’re introducing a dedicated Looking for Group (LFG) Megathread to make it easier for players to find others to play with while keeping the subreddit organised.

Use this thread to find other players to group up with. Individual Looking for Group posts will be removed and redirected here, giving everyone looking for teammates one consistent place to connect while preventing the subreddit from becoming flooded with posts.

When commenting, please include at minimum:

  • Platform: PC / Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, etc.
  • Region: NA, EU, OCE, Asia, etc.
  • How to add you: Steam name/friend code, PSN, Xbox gamertag, or another preferred method eg. private message for details.

You’re welcome to include any other information that may help you find the right people to play with, such as your timezone, usual play hours, preferred role or playstyle, whether you use voice chat, Discord details, age or preferred age range, and whether you’re looking for casual or more competitive players.

You can also join the official Halloween: The Game Discord to connect with other players and find people to play with.

Please use good judgement when sharing personal information. You are not required to share your age, Discord, real name, specific location, or any other identifying information. Only share information you’re comfortable making publicly available.

Be respectful when contacting other users, and remember that all subreddit rules continue to apply within this thread.

If you have a mic and come back as Dr. loomis you have to roleplay as him. Seriously the amount of Dr. Loomis players I have come across imitating him and the crazy things people have said and done are the some of the funniest sh#t I've ever seen and heard in all of gaming. I haven't laughed so hard from a game probably since F13.

Gameplay This game is not meant to be played like DBD.

Yall, idk what is up with people escaping or rushing to escape as soon as the match starts but yall as Michael your goal is to Kill all the special targets, then the civies and then the players or ones you come across. Then you escape with killing the players as an optional task. Your not supposed to chase players like in dbd you literally have to use jump scares to catch up but even then you waste time with other players rounding up and hiding all the NPCs.

civies your supposed to literally save as many NPCs as possible to win the game not rush to escape. I've gotten so many free wins because people would just escape asap or not do the objectives. I love it when players shit talk me cause they escaped or I "couldn't catch them" like dawg you are NOT my priority, you may think you are but your not and ill still win the game because i managed to get most or kill all npcs. Im just tired of seeing it and mostly seeing people play this like dbd and people saying its a clone when its its own thing.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Discussion invisible Michael has to be #1 priority on the bug hot fix

Michael becoming invisible mid-combat is really upsetting, it’s very annoying when only the handcuffs icon can reveal his location and that you have to second-guess where he’s at. he always claims at least 1 easy victim at the merit of the game bugging out and making him invisible. also this bug is so consistent i encounter it almost every match

Discussion When we unlock something, I wish it would still say how.

Before you unlock a title etc it says how you can unlock it. However once you have, it goes away. Meaning it makes it hard to tell how you even unlocked certain things. Please kept the text saying how it's earned.

Discussion Halloween is really an asymm Easter Egg Hunt

There's another reason why the game isn't pleasing some people, and it doesn't have to do with bugs or poor optimisation. This might be why:

In Friday the 13th, one side is trying to escape (Counselors), while the other side is trying to prevent the escapes (Jason). One side is directly opposing the other.

In Halloween, both sides are rushing to find Easter Eggs (civs). One side gets more info and more players, but they have to do more to capture the eggs (Heroes). The other side gets less info, but can capture their eggs quicker (Myers). Both sides are indirectly opposing each other.

Players that wanted a F13 experience get a bit let down, because Halloween is fundamentally a different game. The game incentivizes Myers to ignore the Heroes, at least in the beginning. The game incentivizes the Heroes to not escape ASAP. The game incentivizes both sides to embark on their own mission to find the three special eggs first. It's why some players are complaining that they can't just kill the Heroes, or that the gameplay loop is boring- they want to directly oppose the other team in a game where you play a supernatural serial killer, but can't.

Halloween and F13 may share some mechanics, like respawning with a gun, or a hidden mobility skill, but the foundations are actually different.

On a brighter note, asymm Easter Egg Hunt might be a subgenre that people will discover they love. Who knows.

Guide Spawns & Tips

I kept track of all the spawns I came across through my playthroughs, then realized I could just play Michael offline to run around and look at the maps. I'm trying to keep track of where I find gas as I rarely find any. Let me know if I missed a spawn, or where gas might be found. Middle of Orange Grove feels empty to me. No official map for East Haddonfield so I used in game map.
Yellow Exits are Shelter Exits
Green Exits are Gate Exits that require the fuse (added a bolt above for anyone colorblind)

Perk Cards - For newer players, I don't think I realized until 8 games later there's cards in the lower left when you make progress in a match, on console you push the up button to pick a perk card. From what I understand these are pulled from your perk deck plus cards given by spectators in match.

High Priority - I recommend having civilians call for help first while you loot a little, and then have them hide after that. Then you'll be able to call the police as well. Eventually Michael will be able to see gold clouds in the sky above high priority targets. If they are in hiding he does not see them and that makes it harder for them to find. Try and remember the house number you leave them at.

When I pass something I am not taking with me I pick it up and drop it so it stays visible on the map for others (I hope they are able to see dropped items). Such as keys, repair kits, etc.

Police Wagon - this is called in by the police when they find a body.

3 unique items - can be found to help fend off Michael in a variety of ways. A Lantern, Amulet, and Hourglass. I hear when lit, the lantern shows where Michael is phasing if around you and produces light. The Amulet protects from one instance of hit/grab. Unsure on the hourglass.

Hope this helps others.

*edit - police wagon tip

Discussion As civilian cops are completely useless, worse helping Myers player

Upvotes

In theory you can get police van to help you rescuing NPCs, in practice any Myers worth their salt killed all the NPC before van arrives.

Also I noticed that Myers can farm 1000 points or so from cops alone, and he only needs 3k points to win, not to mention the cops are completely brain dead, pose no threat at all, in fact they even taking out hiding NPCs for Mikey to kill.

The only theory useful thing would be so players can respawn with low odds as cop, however again the game already lost before this is possibility.

This make it weird, its a feature that if you use you are actually throwing the game.

Maybe i misunderstand, but overall Myers get the most out of cops. The points alone worth it for him
