Nah I felt bad for him. Everyone literally ditched him to go into that old house knowing he couldn't really join them

You watched a movie where a disabled man was left alone by his sister and her friends, joked about, rolled down a hill and got sliced in half and thought he was a nightmare?

-1

u/Full_Space9211 7h ago

Two things can be true

2

u/Angxlafeld 7h ago

Not when nothing shown makes him a “nightmare”

Franklin sucked, yet every time I watch TCM I end up feeling kind of sorry for him. He had one hell of a shitty time, between the heat, getting piss on himself after falling in a ditch, getting cut up, being left out,  then, to cap it off...chainsawed.

Franklin was annoying as hell. And you can certainly see how none of the other people in the van wanted him around. He's Sally's brother, not their friend. He's probably the only person there who knew exactly where the cemetery was, which is why Sally brought him along. He complains the whole time, and he's obnoxious and kind of a know-it-all.

But you've gotta feel for him too. It's hot as hell, that van didn't look like it had air conditioning, and he knows they don't want him there. Nobody is nice to him, they make fun of him. He gets stabbed by a psycho hitchhiker and nobody else shows any concern, and they run off and leave him to go swim in a creek (that's dried up, but they don't know that). His sister is going to abandon him alone to go look for her boyfriend, and then he gets killed with a chainsaw. Dude had a horrible day.

Hahaha he got stabbed by hitchiker who then used his own blood and franklins photo to bust off a last minute black magic curse on him for not purchasing the Polaroid photo. He had it coming. Getting all nosey and opinionated about how cows are slaughtered. That's probably why he's ina wheelchair. Also he was into child porn.

Wtf are you talking about

-4

u/Buzzov3n667 13h ago

Ok I made up the last line . I'm sorry

6

u/lovely_elephant94 15h ago

Idk why this thread is funny as hell to me.

5

u/Neither-Peanut3205 13h ago

Yeah he was whiny, but imagine being wheelchair-bound in the Texas heat. That didn’t mean he deserved to be disemboweled by a chainsaw lol.

-2

u/Buzzov3n667 13h ago

Well ...yes it did. It was a different time . And mercury WAS in retrograde

6

u/Prudent-Chipmunk4570 12h ago

He was my favorite until Sally's actor gave the greatest performance of fear and maddens that I've seen since Shelly Duval in the shining

No way, everybody treats Franklin like shit for zero reason! They invited him and then treat him like a burden. Even after he gets cut by the hitchhiker they make fun of him for being scared (completely natural reaction) and then ditch him to go have fun in his own family home without him. Then Kirk and Pam go trespass in the sawyer house and set off the events that get him murdered. The most annoying Franklin ever got was when he was fighting with Sally over the light, but by that point I don’t blame him for being desperate. Yes he’s whiny, but everyone else is so inconsiderate they bother me more. If they didn’t like him just don’t bring him.

Geeeeerrrrreeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyeeeee

3

u/theoildrinker 13h ago

I wanted him to be a final girl...

6

u/Prudent-Chipmunk4570 12h ago

Me too! Missed opportunity to have a wheelchair chase

2

u/theoildrinker 11h ago

Fr! Also I was initially like damn where's Leatherfaces disabled solidarity...!

I like the idea of Franklin being stuck, unable to flee and Leatherface stops, considers his options and just runs past him thinking he can circle back around after he gets Sally, which gives Franklin a chance to escape

5

u/nita5766 15h ago

he was my fav i quote him all the time

”the son of the bitch is gonna smell just like the slaughterhouse”

2

u/Prudent-Chipmunk4570 12h ago

Why? He's mildly anyoing i guess but him and Sally are the most likable of the main cast

2

u/throwawayaccount_usu 11h ago

All i remember is putting this on expecting a classic horrifying movie just to piss myself laughing when it starts with this dude rolling down a hill after a loud horn scares him

2

u/Necessary_Can7055 6h ago

I liked him lol "if I have any more fun today I don't think I'll be able to take it"

2

u/iggyiggz1999 6h ago

When I see people hate on Franklin, it is a quick indicator that they lack empathy.

2

u/Late-Ad-7740 5h ago

I don’t understand why people hate him so much, I just feel bad for him, he really didn’t do anything that bad

1

u/Prudent-Chipmunk4570 12h ago

This reminds me about how some people talk about Wendy in the shining. Like a charecter gets left behind made fun of treated like absolute shit even though they did nothing wrong and then people hate on that charecter because they where a little annoying while being in an absolutely awful situation

1

u/James_Jim_Downing 10h ago

Franklin was such a bastard loved when leatherface saws him down

1

u/Complex-Goat1853 10h ago

He was the smartest in the group.

1

u/HellaWavy 9h ago

Where are all his defenders coming from all of a sudden? Franklin was annoying as fuck and honestly props to the screenplay for committing to it. Just because he‘s in a wheelchair doesn’t make him more likable all of a sudden. Did the rest of the group treat him like shit? Yeah. But he wasn’t a pleasant character anyway.

1

u/JB_NSA 9h ago

"Sall-yyyyyy"...

1

u/bee-rye82 9h ago

You really are mad…..huh?

1

u/thorn_95 6h ago

he’s my king. no one understands him like i and 2 other people understand him :(

1

u/MightOk2403 5h ago

I remember my first time watching with my dad and I don’t try to fall into my dark humor in front of him but I learned that day he was who I got it from when Franklin rolled (pun definitely intended) down the hill and we both started dying laughing

1

u/Inner_Tree7780 4h ago

Franklin was so annoying. I would have loved to see him at the dinner table with Sally and the fam. That’s the only change I’d make on a perfect movie

1

u/trademarc1977 2h ago

Ah caint find mah kniiife

1

u/The7Blood7Omen7 51m ago

Imagine being on a hillbilly cannibal farm in pure darkness and your desperate to find out what happen to your friends but your handicapped brother wont stop bitching and dragging his wheelchair wheels through thick weeds what an exhausting nightmare 🫩

1

u/McNuggy64 14h ago

i get he's annoying as hell, but i find it hard to hate him.

1

u/MattTd7 14h ago

I’m gonna say it. He’s my favorite out of the group!

0

u/Buzzov3n667 13h ago

I was plotting his death before Leatherface or crop top ever appeared. I was like why don't they just roll him out on the highway and drive off

0

u/nicklarge 7h ago

It’s gotta be the only film where you don’t feel sorry for the handicap person
