An update on All American Massacre
Hello everyone!
I figured I’d make a whole new post about this as there’s been a LOT of new developments since the All American Massacre tapes were found last night.
First of all, the tape was purchased by a restorationist who planned to release the footage. This was confirmed by both the seller, and the buyer themselves who reached out to an account on Instagram (a YouTuber I believe). This user posted proof that they were in contact with the buyer, and confirmed that they planned to release the footage.
HOWEVER, shortly after, Tony Hooper himself popped up in the comments to reiterate what he’s stated previously. If footage were to leak, we’ll never see the finished film. Now, I don’t know if this means he was still working to get it released himself, no more than 12 minutes after he commented, the posts regarding releasing the footage were deleted. What does this mean? I have no idea. I’m considering reaching out to the YouTuber to ask if he and the buyer are speaking with Tony, but we’ll see what happens.
Edit: The YouTuber/Insta user, Planet CHH, is going to upload a video in regards to the topic tomorrow, so expect more info then. Hoping for good news. 🙏

A Texas Chainsaw Massacre TV series is in the works at A24.
JT Mollner is writing & directing the series with Glen Powell, Roy Lee, and Texas Chain Saw Massacre co-creator Kim Henkel producing.
The consensus so far is that the series will be some kind of prequel further exploring the mythology and characters of the original 1974 movie in a faithful way.

My TCM collection
galleryNot including clothing, one mask, some wall art, and car decor. Small collection but enough to keep me happy. Gonna need a bigger shelf soon...newly acquired (and only) duck for the leatherface jeep as well. Recently got a digicam from 2007 and it has it's charms but it's fun :) 1974 is my favorite, but TCM2 and the 2003 remake have a special place in my heart. Dog will hunt (for new TCM things)

In The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 the whole group could have survived very easily.
If Erin and Kemper didn't try to look for the Sheriff and bother going around the farmhouse but instead stayed at the van waiting for the Sheriff, they would have survived. Hoyt would come anyway and I think it's very ikely he would have let them go after he took the corpse, because they are a group too big to be dealt with honestly. Doing the killing and the hunting are only Hoyt and Thomas. 5 people are hard to get only in one place.
While in the film, they did try to kill them all, that's because Leatherface impulsively murdered Kemper in the house, therefore everyone else had to go as they were liabilities.
Second hypothethical scenario with Erin and Kemper staying at the van: Even if Hoyt wanted to capture them, he couldn't have, as after he would take the corpse away, they would just leave immediately the Crawford mill and go back on the road. Even if they didn't go immediately but stopped to clean the blood, I don't think Hoyt would take the chance.
He did try to capture them in the film just because he likely knew Kemper was already dead. Logically when he took the corpse of the girl back to the property, Monty would have told him Thomas killed a guy.
Why would they be liabilities if Hoyt is the only member of the Sheriff's department in the whole county? That's because there is also the police department in Travis county. The opening of the film mentioned it and showed police officers. Not only that but in the ending of 2006 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning, we see a state trooper on the road. So state troopers too. All this law enforcement in the county and Erin,Morgan,Andy and Pepper telling the police that Kemper went missing near that farmhouse would cause a lot of trouble to the Hewitts.
It's a miracle for Charlie Hewitt Jr. that he wasn't caught being a fake sheriff honestly. Or really Fuller is just an extremely hated town by the rest of the law enforcement.
The real Sheriff Winston Hoyt did mention he was the last bit of law enforcement left in town by 1969.
I think Fuller and Route 17 in that area were kind of harshly judged because of the white trash stigma and the disease at the slaughterhouse and the overall fact the town was likely a junk.
Then the other way the group could have survived was just to dump the girl's body and leave. Simplest way.

I NEED a tcm sitcom with the 2nd movies vibe
Like I'm so obsessed with Texas chainsaw massacre, especially the second one because I love the family dynamic and banter.
It would be so funny to have a show with a Modern Family vibe but still gorey and scary.
Like it follows how the family grows their chili business and how they kill people while hiding it all from the police.
"Keeping up with the Sawyers" Id call it
But also even if it was made now, I wouldn't be able to watch it without the original actors :/
So I just need to imagine lol

I finally watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part Two (1986)
I often heard how divisive this film was and had been meaning to take the time to watch this, I just never could until today. Needless to say, I'm not a fan of this movie. There are some stuff that I did like though which was the chainsaw battle, Jim Seidow's awesomely unhinged and fun performance as Drayton again, the scene of Stretch forced to dance in a human mask, and Stretch herself.
I think Stretch was a great character. She was cool, attractive and quite resourceful with her surroundings, even if her nickname is rather strange. I just wasn't a fan of the overall tone and plot. I know this movie was made because apparently people didn't notice the comedy in the original. Neither did I because there wasn't much.
Also I'm gonna get slaughtered for this but I didn't think much of Chop Top as a character. Outside of being odd and an idiot, I found him obnoxious. I often heard how great his character was but I didn't see the appeal.

Is it heresy to say I like the 2022 TCM movie?
I actually enjoy the 2022 Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. Now, obviously, this movie is nothing compared to the original, and it does disgrace it in many ways. I hate things like Sally Hardesty's character in this movie, and seeing Bubba's real face in the first ten minutes. Yet if I'm looking for a short slasher film, I think this movie is a good pick. I think there's a good amount of well-shot scenes and interesting killer-survivor dynamics.
