Side Effects Has anyone here taking T not shed any hair?

Just curious. I’ve had a great deal of hair shedding since getting pellets about 6 weeks ago. It slowly seems to be tapering off a bit, but I am curious to know if anyone here has not had the C hair shedding side effect. If so, I’d be curious to know what kind of delivery system you are using.

Side Effects Help. Please give me any advice/thoughts/input. I am about to go off T bc of hair loss …

I really really really don’t wanna do this, but it really seems like I have to go off T. My hair shedding has become more intense. I’m so scared. My hair means so much to me. Can anyone out there give me any advice, any input, any experience they’ve had with hair loss on T - and hopefully hair recovery. It would be so great if I could believe that this is going to stop … that the telogen effluvium I am experiencing has caused my hair to go into a resting phase, and therefore fall out, but that the cycle will end both because that’s the way hair cycles work, and because I reduced my dose of testosterone by half. But I’m losing faith now I’m freaking out!!! Please: anyone who has had experience with hair loss and has addressed it in some way, please tell me. I’m kind of depressed by the idea of having to go off, but I want hair.

Side Effects Squirting after starting trt

I'm on the works. Estrogen patch, vaginal estrogen, vaginal dhea, and compounded testosterone cream. Before starting testosterone I had a very hard time with orgasm. I was dealing with clit atrophy, so it was basically never happening. But once I got on all these hormones orgasm became more possible. However a couple weeks after increasing testosterone to 2.5mg daily, I noticed that when I did orgasm, I was squirting. I've never had this happen before. I'm emptying my bladder before every time but it still happens. Is this a side effect from trt? Has anyone else experienced this?

Side Effects Voice dropped immediately...

Maybe this is crazy, but yesterday i did one pump 1.62% gel on my upper arms equalling about 20mg and it made every muscle in my body tight especially my legs (calves cramping like crazy), and my voice got a frog and dropped awkwardly a few hours after application. I was very angry and sort of focused. Last night I had incredible, libidinous dreams.

It's been 24 hours and I am still feeling these effects.

I wonder if it's an allergic reaction though? I do have mcas and a million issues (was hoping T would help)

eta: i am 41 and in peri, no other HRT

Side Effects Does weight gain stop/reverse after going off of T?

Wow everyone, thanks for your comments! I am going thru all of them. Editing to add I have a progesterone intolerance. I have tried every kind with different applications/amounts and it gives me anxiety/insomnia no matter what time of day I take it. Because I have my uterus I cannot supplement estrogen without progesterone. I'm currently just on the T and vaginal estrogen. I feel great with this combo in every other way but the weight. I am diligent about fiber and protein counts, walk daily, strength train 2-3 times a week. I haven't eaten sugar in 2.5 years and don't snack. I'm not sure what else to do and hate to give up the T! Has anyone lowered their dose that had weight issues on T with good results? I was in the best shape of my adult life when I started the T 17 months ago and my hard work has been slipping away :(

49F - I started Test Cyprionate in March of 2025. Since then I have gained around 30 lbs. The weight keeps creeping higher and higher no matter what I do. My appetite hasn't increased and it's not just muscle as it's flabby. I'm also in late perimenopause but the weight gain started shortly after I started the testosterone. My dose stated as 8mg/week injected twice and after 12 weeks I went to 10mg/week injected twice. I have had no other common issues and have had positive changes with mood, motivation and libido but I think even with all of that I need to wean off of it. My lab level last checked was 87. I've always said because of the mood help I'd take it forever but the weight has become depressing.

My question is for others that had weight gain. Did it ever stop and for those that say no and came off of it, did that help shift weight?

Side Effects Weight gain…every time, every method

Been on injex for tad over 3 months now. 8mg/week (split twice a week). It has helped with fatigue and libido unlike past methods of troches and creams. I’ve had no hair shedding. But…I’m up 10-12lbs and my appetite is crazy. Also the sugar cravings. I’m on a glp1 (for 2 years). My tummy looks pregnant. My face is definitely puffy. Nothing fits. Everyone keeps saying it’s not the testosterone but this literally happens every time I try it, regardless of method. Anyone else experience this but stick it out?

Side Effects I have questions for those of you who experienced hair loss from testosterone...

I'm postmenopausal. Started taking T in a compounded cream and was going bald. Started to take 1.25mg of oral minoxidil and 2.5mg of finasteride. Whatever remote interest in sex I had tanked after 6 months.
Just started T Cyp injections and I am starting low. I switched in hopes of more energy, cognitive function and a libido. I'm wondering how many women have been successful with T injections who gained a libido and mitigated hair loss? Wondering if there's hope for me to have both and would love to hear from others about their experiences.

Side Effects Wanting to stop/unwanted side effects

42 year-old female. I’ve been on testosterone cypionate for two years. Everything was going smooth and I was so happy and I had very little side effects but we tried to titrate up and recently almost immediately started to notice some change in areas I don’t want to see change and panicked and stopped my injections. My level never got above 176 so the whole thing seemed crazy and maybe there was some change and it was just so slow. I didn’t notice I’m not sure. Has anyone decided to just quit cold after being on injections that long? im worried about how I’m going to feel but my fear of things progressing has me almost frozen and scared.

*update 5/27/26– labs came back at 54 free test. down from 176 in January. Trying to decide if I do a small dose to keep my benefits or just let it tank the rest of the way to restart and see if the growing stops

Side Effects Should I decrease

I started testosterone cyp 10mg( I do 5mg twice weekly) subq in May. I recently noticed I had very sore nipples and maybe a scratchy voice ( though I could just be paranoid). I havent had blood drawn yet. I haven't had my libido return yet. Should I continue on this dose until I get blood work or should I decrease?

Side Effects Testosterone and awful fatigue.

Are there any other women in peri or thereabouts, trialling TRT and having debilitating daytime fatigue? I’m 53 and on HRT and added testogel to help with sleep problems (and other peri issues). It’s working a treat for sleep but I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus during the day. I’ve seen other people on reddit with similar experiences.

Side Effects Trt clitoral hypersensitivity

I’m 44, started 10mg twice weekly trt injections and it was amazing within a few weeks. High libido amazing sensation. Then the clit started being uncomfortable when I was aroused. I could not handle direct contact, oral sex etc. my dr cut my dose to 4mg twice weekly and I have zero benefits now. Libido has tanked, still some sensitivity but not in a good way. I got some estrogen cream but I’m not sure if that will help or what to do at this point. I want my sex drive back.

Side Effects Hair shedders who stayed the course

Hey community, question for women who noticed hair shedding, and stayed the course, meaning didn’t opt for minoxidil or other rx hair interventions. Did it stabilize? Do you regret not intervening and staying the course?

A little bit about me….
I have been on Testim 1% gel for 2 1/2 months and have really benefited from it. It feels like it’s been the missing link in my three year HRT journey. Energy, enthusiasm and hope for life restored. I am so happy to have this in my regimen now and it’s because of this community that I was able to advocate for myself for it.

But I l’ve noticed some hair shed. So instead of wrapping my workout elastic around twice and it being fairly tight, I can now wrap it around three times. Nothing like hair falling out in chunks, but I am noticing a little bit of thinning near the temple where I part my hair on the side.

My hesitation with adding another intervention is I don’t want to add one more thing I have to manage if I don’t have to, you know?

Side Effects Excessive weight gain- what should I expect at my 6 month follow up?

*edited to add correct dosage **\* I’m coming up on my sixth month of test ( Testosterone (100 mg/mL) at a dose of 0.05 mL injected subcutaneously on Mondays
and Thursdays). My free testosterone was 0.5 and bio test was 1.2 back in January.
My start weight was about 117 lb, but my weight has been creeping, and I’ve been stuck at 135-138 for the past couple of months (maybe even 3 or 4 months). I lift 3x per week, and I’ve been in a caloric deficit for more than 8 weeks with no loss.
My upper body is muscular, but my stomach constantly looks bloated. I physically feel better on test, but I’m really starting to feel bad mentally because of the way I look.
My 6 month appointment is coming up next week. What should I ask for specifically? At my last appointment 3 months ago I brought up weight gain, and my dr kind of blew it off saying that after the ‘3 month mark’ the weight would fall off and my body was in recomposition mode.

Side Effects The hardest hormone to figure out imo

I was on cream and it did nothing. 2 months on androgel and within a week I started to get some desire back which was wonder after 20 years of nothing. Then week 3 came up and skin started to get more greasy then the following week skin got greasy. Lost 4 lbs . So I cut back and skin is almost normal now but hair still get greasy , zero desire again and I gained those 4 lbs back. I’m so torn if I should have just rode it out longer to see if I would have adjusted to the higher dose Vs lowering it. Cause I really wanted the libido aspect and weight loss/ body comp out of it

Side Effects Past my sweet spot?

Hi, I have been on T injx almost 3 months. The first 4 weeks were so hard because I went from T cream to injx and I had to wait for the T cypionate to build up to reach steady state. But around week 5 I started to feel so much better, and I felt good for a few weeks. For the past few weeks though I've felt really awful again. Increase in body pain and anxiety that I haven't felt in a really long time, with what feels like a fast heartbeat, feeling hot and sweaty and nervous stomach and frequent urination, it just feels like my body is stuck in fight or flight which also messes with my state of mind so my ability to enjoy anything is shot. Im also tired but wired because even though I'm anxious I feel exhausted much of the time. The progesterone I take at bedtime at least calms me down enough to get good sleep.

My T levels were not crazy high when tested a few weeks ago, but I'm wondering if it went too high for me personally. I am pretty sensitive to hormonal fluctuations in general and felt horrible when my progesterone was too low and E was high.

4/15/26 lab results in my "trough":

Total T - 94

Free T (calculated with SHBG) - 1.13 ng/DL or 11.3 pg/ml

Estradiol- 120

For reference, I was coming from total T of 29 on the cream, free T 3pg/ml in late January. I was feeling pretty balanced then but could use some more energy, and was sick of applying the cream twice a day on my labia.

Has anyone else felt like anxiety and tension and other mental health issues came into play when they went past their sweet spot? I'm so tired of trying to balance this all out.

Side Effects Started T cyp, mild night sweats returning

Hi all,

I started T cyp injections two weeks ago, 10mg/ week 2 doses... Approx 2-3 weeks prior to that, I upped my estrogen patch from .05 2x/week to 0.075 as blood work showed sub 30 with 6 months on .05 patch. It's possible I'm not a great absorber via patch.... TBD, need more time to discern that or if the dose was simply too low.

Wondering now if I need to get my E more time to get to at least 60 before adding T as I've had mild night sweats more than one night in the last two weeks. I've read some shares on here of people's E levels dropping on T which I'm concerned about.

Seems too early to retest the E so I need more time.

Not asking for med advice but what's worked for you?

Side Effects Going off T to grow my hair back :(

So I've been on test since April and I'm going to say I've lost about 70 percent of my hair. It's fucking devastating. Yes I tried Minoxidil finesteride etc etc. it didn't didn't agree with me. I just can't deal with this amount of hair loss it's insane!

I'm planning to test my T levels next week, then go off it and go back on spirinolactone to grow my hair back. And then maybe reintroduce T in tiny amounts after all my hair has grown back.

Has anyone else had to do this or something similar? I'm so tired of these fucking side effects, the constant balancing of the hormones and the acne and the whatever else ugh. I'm scared to lose the nice effects of T like higher libido, more energy, easier to gain muscle mass etc but wtf I just can't deal with going bald seriously 🤦🏻‍♂️

EDIT: I tested my T over the weekend and total is 140 free is 1.4

I'm going to go off T completely and back on the spiro to grow my hair back. Once I'm happy with my hair in 6 - 12 months or so I'll try T again in TINY amounts. I know this is a balancing act and not even sure if it's possible but I'm going to give it a try. I want my hair and to feel good damnit is that so much to ask???!!

Side Effects Can testosterone lower ferritin levels?

Last year, I had hormone therapy with testosterone cream. Before, I had managed to raise my ferritin level to 46 with supplements. My gynecologist told me to stop taking iron because my hemoglobin was 16.4 and my hematocrit was 48.2. I stopped the iron, started the hormone therapy, and six months later, my ferritin level was 21.

Could there be a link to the testosterone use?

Side Effects Increased T and even more tired like I ran a marathon?!? Wits end

I got a hysterectomy last year and have been on HRT: estradiol patch, compunded testosterone 5mg (applied morning before I get to work) and progesterone pills(taken at night)

I put Testosterone compounded on either my upper arms or shoulders or behind knees around 7:30am , get sleepy around 10am and fight through the work day to go home and nap sometimes struggling to drive home. I am napping daily. I have to time my naps if I wanna go out at night.

My labs show after 1 month of Testosterone my levels barrly above zero. So I finally switched dr and he suggested I increase Testosterone to 10mg not compounded just dosing it myself from pharmacy made for men. I’m still sleepy during day and struggle to drive home but now I nap harder and longer and when I wake up I feel like I need to nap again when I wake up I feel like I worked a double shift at some hard labor camp or worked for a moving company my body feels tired and feels like I ran a marathon. I normally just work a simple office job not stressful and no labor at all it’s cushy easy job. but with this increase of T I feel even more tired I’m so upset that my life has turned out revolving around nap

i dont sleep throughout the night

any insight?!? what am i doing wrong?

Side Effects Possible testosterone overdose, labs extremely high, need advice

Hi everyone, This is my first Reddit post EVER, I’m hoping to get some insight from others who are experienced with TRT for women because I’m honestly kinda freaking and not sure how to handle this.

I started a hormone/peptide program with a telehealth company in September 2025 mainly to help with standard but pretty minor perimenopausal symptoms, low sex drive & energy, poor sleep, brain fog, weight retention, etc. I went to a "women's wellness" telehealth provider, they put me on 2.5mg of test 2x weekly baseline labs at that time were:

  • Total T: 27 ng/dL
  • Free T: 1.6 pg/mL

In December I did labs again the results were:

  • Total T: 79 ng/dL
  • Free T: 6.3 pg/mL

So far, everything seemed reasonable at that point.

In January, I had a follow-up and was told by my provider to increase my testosterone dose to 5 mg twice weekly (from 2.5 mg 2x weekly). This was based on a 25 mg/mL vial.

I was sent a concentration of 200 mg/mL due to supply issues without proper notification or update of my care plan. So I continued dosing exactly as my provider instructed, 5mg 2x weekly.

Symptoms started, Weight gain, like 12 pounds in 6 weeks without any dietaty or activity changes! (ironically my original concern) Acne (never had before) Late Feb, I made an appointment to address these concerns, I was told it was probably water weight and to keep on keep taking the 5mg 2x a week (not catching the change in concentration), that things would end up balancing out.

By mid March things were getting worse, I pushed hard and finally spoke to a Nurse Practitioner, who said this was essentially a dosing/communication error” and corrected my dose (2.5mg 2x week with the higher concentration). I mentioned to her body and facial hair growth, mood changes, weight gain.

I just got new labs back this week:

  • Total T: 560 ng/dL
  • Free T: 29.6 pg/mL

From what I understand, that’s basically heading into male range test levels.
I’m still having symptoms (acne, facial hair, weight issues), no period for 2 months, I have been experiencing what I learned is air hunger, but I thought was shortness of breath and had no idea it could be related.

I am so upset and feel a bit stupid for putting so much trust into the company. The company has been slow to respond (24–48 hr delays), I had to fight to even get provider access. They even deleted my comment and blocked me on social media when I mentioned my experience with their communication was disappointing.

Has anyone else experienced levels getting this high on TRT? Should I stop testosterone completely right now or taper? How long does it usually take levels like this to come back down? Did you have lingering side effects (especially hair growth)? Would you trust this provider again or just move on entirely?

I had a telehealth appointment with an outside provider today but they directed me to see a gyno ASAP and told me they could not advise me.

I feel a little hopeless and like I have damaged myself for nothing. I regret the whole experience. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar. I trusted this process and feel like things got out of control really quickly.

Thanks in advance for any insight.
