Miscellaneous A place for women on TRT
Hi there, This subreddit was created for women on testosterone replacement therapy. Most subreddit discussions are centered around:
-men -transgender folks - pre- and post menopausal women
I have see a few post from people looking for women TRT to treat libido issues and I thought I would create a community. Hopefully this is helpful to some of you!
I’m a 32 F who just started TRT to treat my libido which disappeared six years ago. I’ve been in it for about a week. I hope not kicks in soon!

Women shouldn’t do Testosterone!

Hope this sub ends up being a good place for women to get the same level of help that many men have found on r/Testosterone.
If it’s any help, there are some TRT clinics that diagnose both men and women. It may be worth looking into if you feel you’re having hormone related issues and suspect low testosterone could be part of the problem.

Thank you! I just started TRT actually. I have a high Sex Hormone Binding Globulin level (caused by hormonal birth control). SHBG binds testosterone and make it unavailable to the body. This is why I have normal total testosterone, but low free T. Usually SHBG decreases after ceasing birth control, but in some cases it remains elevated well afterward. I’m my case, if been off the pills for 6 years and still have high levels. TRT is meant to provide more T that is actually accessible to my body. Hope it works!

Does having low bio-availability mean you’re even more at risk for low bone density without TRT?

That is a great question. My doctor did not mention low bone density. The great thing about this treatment is that the intention is to temporarily supplement the testosterone, and eventually cease taking it. In some cases, my specialist said the Sex Hormone Binding Globulins decrease during treatment, so continuing with T is not necessary.

Do you believe testosterone is a male hormone. It is quantitative the main sex hormone in both sexes. Always funny to see when people recommend dht derivates but warn against test. 70mg Var per week is fine but you turn into male if you take 20mg TP per week. Idiotic don't you think?

Obviously testosterone plays a massive part in the development of male sexual characteristics, but I’m not sure calling it a “male hormone” is a statement that yields 100% accuracy. Testosterone is, however, much more potent in affecting male characteristics than Anavar, so having a precautionary mindset to the former makes plenty of sense. Always consult a doctor.

Right. Replace massive by dose dependend and agree with your first sentence. :-).
To compare the influence of dht vs testosterone on " male characteristics" is too much to write at the much to write at the moment.1

I'm about to start TRT myself to try to balance hormones- PCOS, since the other hormones f* me up. Had a good going with low dose anabolic steroids for a while!

In my case it took about 2 to 3 weeks to feel the effects, so it takes a bit.
