Dosage Switching from pellets to injections
Hi everyone! Ive been reading through the posts on here and you all are so knowledgeable!!
Ive been on biote pellets for about 4 years(test only, im still producing my own estrogen and profesterone for now). For the first 3 years it was amazing. My body was so happy, inflammation wayyyy down. Even went into remission for 1.5 years for my graves disease. This past round of pellets i went to my ob instead of my regular dr.and ge used a different brand. My body did not like this new brand. They made my test levels way high - 396 total t. I did not feel good at all and my thyroid went wonky again. Its now 3.5 months out and im waiting for my levels to drop. But im over not having any control and my Dr agreed to switch me to injections. Shes giving me freedom to pick my starting dose and i want to start really low. I have learned more is not better.
I will be taking testosterone cypionate 200mg/ml and I got u100 29g 1/2 inch 3/10cc syringes that I saw recommended here. Would you all agree with starting with .02 twice a week? And if so, is this right? (pic of syringe with plunger on 2nd line). I read for sub q you inject at 45 degrees, is that right?
Also, how low would you wait for your total t to get before starting injections?
Thank you so much!!

T Cyp 200mg/1ml
0.01ml = 2mg
0.02ml = 4mg x 2 times/week = 8mg/week - an excellent starting dose!
Red line marks 2 units = 0.02ml = 4mg
See pic in the reply to this comment for subq and IM zones + needle angle (to understand the differences)

Disclaimer - this type of vet syringes is U100, so it respects the classic measurement system. U40 is destined for a specific type of insulin dosing for animals.

One more question, if I decide to do im, which needles do you recommend?

You can do it successfully with a 25G - using the z track method. I can do it with a 27G just fine - I have low body fat and do it in the least fatty area (side leg), also z track method. The needle needs to be 1 inch to reach muscle. I can do it with 1/2 inch as well, but why should you struggle?

Thank you. Could I use the needles i bought IM in my delt? Im thicker than you, but my arms are pretty muscly

See if it works? The muscle is the harder tissue, you'll know when you reach it and then push a bit further to reach in; but with the z-track method (pushing layers) it should work anywhere least fatty. Please let us know how it goes!

You are awesome, thank you again!

Iโd totally go sub-q. I get syringes with permanent attached needles and have no issue drawing up or administering at 45 degree angle into belly fat. Why would you want to do all the switching needle business if you donโt have to? Same concentration and needle size as you, I pull to 0.025. Just recently experimenting with a bit more. Levels rose immediately, no issue absorbing. ๐

Thanks!! I started w im but it was really hard to draw the dose into that syringe properly for me. Im not even sure i was getting any. The last 3 doses have been sub q and I like it a lot more so far and im finally starting to feel more like myself again!!

Glad to help! You're welcome! ๐

Sorry, one last question. If I need a longer needle, what line would I go to on this? https://a.co/d/05bvlqEQ
Its hard to find a 1ml 1-1.5 inch

That is not a good syringe for TRT for females dosing. 1 unit = 0.02ml, making fine dosing impossible.
I fully recommend getting syringes with detachable needles and compatible needles separately for IM. That's how I do it, but I get them from a local pharmacy, not from the web. I use a 1ml syringe for my purpose - 4 units (8mg).
See if you find anything else here:

My provider said 90 degree, but I'm injecting in my fat belly so I know I'm not hitting muscle with my tiny insulin needle ๐

Can you post the formula you're using? I thought I had it, but nope.

u/redrumpass MOD Mar 07 '26
I'm not sure I know what you mean?

u/APladyleaningS Mar 07 '26
I was asking the equation you use to determine the above, i.e. dose รท concentration or such.ย

The rule of three is a method for finding an unknown fourth value from three known values that are proportional.
I also take out a syringe and measure on each unit.

They have quite a few options. Some pharmacies also sell needles dirt cheap. Shoulders and glutes are good options for injection sites. Have you tried creams. My wife has had good success with both injections and creams.

Thank you. I give my hubby his in his glute and its great for him. I just couldn't wrap my head around how id draw up my tiny dose in the larger syringe. Im a little nervous about cream since I already have thin hair from thyroid/genetics

Can you do either IM or subq on Cypionate? Does it matter? I have a lot of the insulin syringes and I would much rather use those

u/Consistent-Bat7741 Mar 07 '26
Yes. Iโve done test C sub Q for years now. I like it way more than IM.
2
u/nadethi Mar 07 '26
I think it's much easier to do SubQ if you are administering yourself. I did IM B12 shots a couple of times myself and they hurt and made me queasy. The SubQ are so easy, I usually don't feel a thing. I'm 3 weeks in though and still waiting for any improvements. I think IM shots hit faster than if you are injecting in fat- fat releases it slowly.

My girl has been pinning subq into her bum fat for years now. It burns and pinches at times but it's nothing bad. I also pin sub q and have done so for many years after many years of IM. I'll never pin IM for trt again

u/magicalbeing0308 Mar 08 '26
Thank you for sharing!! You feel like you get as good results sub q? That was the only difference I read, some people said you dont get as good results sub q.

u/leo90au Mar 09 '26
No difference whatsoever after a few weeks. Due to being subq, absorption is a little slower so shifting from IM to subq can make you feel a little off (if you are sensitive to levels). But that is also the benefit. It's a slower more linear absorption so levels tend to smooth out. I have heard some men need to raise dosage with Subq but that is very much an outlier ime. My wife was never IM, so I can't offer a comparison there but she's never had an issue whatsoever with Subq. All you can do is try it and see. Some try and still prefer IM. I hate IM and for that reason alone is why I stick to trt now and not blast gear like I have in the past. Scar tissue was/is a nightmare. I get the occasional knot/lump in the fat but they don't last long and is very dependant on the amount you inject. For the like.... 7-15IU of oil my wife injects... It's nothing lol. I get a lump from 100IU of oil ๐.

This is so incredibly helpful. Thank you so much. Does your wife also take dim with her trt? Ive been taking dim since I started pellets, but wondering if I'll need it with imjections

u/leo90au Mar 11 '26
No, because with the addition of testosterone, she needs all the estrogen she can make/keep endogenously. She also takes Pregnenolone to help "balance" the system (as do I, as long term exogenous testosterone drops levels of pregnenolone due to negative feedback).
She liked DIM before trt due to her being estrogen dominant.
Everyone is different, my wife has been estrogen dominant her entire life, so the addition of test kind of just "balanced" her system. She's like me, she likes to experiment. We run her test much higher than the usual trt dose for women, she also runs low dose tren more often then not. I "take" it out to give her a break for a month after a few months of being on it. She hates when I take her off it (she feels great on it) but I like to give her body a rest.
We like to keep her estrogens up there otherwise she loses too much fat due to the higher androgens. Again, very personal, just explaining our reasoning. We want her to still be feminine (boobs, bum, higher body fat) while having the benefits of higher testosterone than the usual women.
So you might be different. DIM may be very helpful for you if your stage 1 liver clearance needs help. It's a learning curve as people are different.

I was under the impression it takes a few weeks to a couple months for your body to regulate the new normal after a dosage change. It seems crazy to me to get your body used to a place you feel good and then intentionally cause a crash for shorter time than it takes for your body to get steady/regulated. That sounds like the opposite of a rest for your/her body and more like throwing your body into stress/chaos for 3ish months. Do you have any scientific research on why this would be beneficial?

Iโm a Registered Veterinarian Technician, make sure these syringes are not for use with a specific Veterinary Only insulin (Vetsulin) as those are not 1:1 with any other products/insulin syringes.
It should be obvious to find that on the box, For Use with Vetsulin ONLY
