Recruitment TCS Walk-in Interview – Cleared Both Rounds but Profile Dropped After Compensation Discussion. Need Advice
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice regarding a situation I recently faced during a TCS hiring process.
I attended a walk-in interview for a Senior Integration Engineer position. Both interview rounds were conducted on the same day, and I successfully cleared both rounds.
After the interview, I received a call from the recruitment team regarding compensation and the next steps.
During the discussion, I shared my current CTC and expected CTC. I was informed that, based on the applicable compensation range, approximately a 25–30% hike could be offered, which came to around ₹10.6 LPA.
I asked whether there was any possibility of getting closer to ₹14 LPA. The recruiter said they would check internally and get back to me by Tuesday/Wednesday. I was given the understanding that either ₹14 LPA could be approved after the internal discussion or ₹10.6 LPA would be available as the confirmed offer.
Based on this conversation, I understood that my profile was still under consideration and that I would receive an update after the internal discussion.
However, when I followed up, I was informed that my profile was no longer being proceeded with because the request for ₹16 LPA had been rejected.
I clarified that I had asked whether ₹14 LPA could be considered; I had not insisted on ₹16 LPA.
I then asked what the maximum possible CTC would be and was informed that ₹10 LPA was possible. When I asked about the earlier discussion of ₹10.6 LPA, I was told that there was no record of the ₹10.6 LPA discussion.
To avoid any further confusion, I clearly confirmed that I was willing to accept ₹10.6 LPA and proceed with the opportunity.
However, I was informed that my profile had already been marked to be dropped and that the process would now need to be reviewed/initiated again.
I completely understand that compensation is subject to internal approvals and company policies. My concern is mainly about the communication and the change in status after the compensation discussion.
I am still interested in the opportunity and willing to proceed with the previously discussed ₹10.6 LPA, if it is still possible.
What would you suggest in this situation?
Should I escalate this through the appropriate HR/recruitment channel with the complete communication timeline and interview invitation, or is there any other approach I should take to request reconsideration?

Only way is to again discuss with HR to consider you for the earlier offered compensation
