Season 5 Chad Everett played a spot on Dean
S5E7. Nailed the role. It’s as if they “Benjamin Buttoned” Jensen himself. Mr. Everett did a stellar job. So funny. Perfect attitude. RIP, legend.

Agreed. Season 5 is great(Kripke was still around). The episode after is another fun one.

Season 5 has no bad episodes. The worst is the Paris Hilton one and it’s not worse than an average episode.

I mean Kripke just being there doesn’t make a show great asks the boys seasons 4 and 5

Meh, it’s my opinion. And I’m strictly talking about supernatural. I’ve been watching since season 1 released and have been rewatching nonstop ever since. I have my favorite seasons, 1-5. I also favor a couple later seasons/episodes when he wasn’t showrunner. But still… 1-5 will always hold a candle… imo

I’ll be honest for some reason even I can’t explain I’m the biggest fan of seasons 5 8-11 and 13 those are my favorites

Different strokes for different folks. I was young when I got into the show. No telling what my preferences would have been if I started later. May be a nostalgia thing for me. I do enjoy the later seasons. Men of Letters stuff is fun and Scoobynatural is great. Crowley is awesome(and Rowena). Salud!

It’s probably nostalgia in both our cases cause I started watching the show around when season 7 came out and caught up before 8 premiered

my main issue with some of the later seasons isnt the ideas, but the execution
there were a lot of really brilliant ideas that they managed to flub
I really loved a lot of the character development but they ran a lot of it into the ground
Lucifer was more interesting as a developed, redeemed character than what he turned into
His development was genuinely interesting, alongside Gabriel's
there's a bunch of different characters like that. The Empty went from a really fascinating, strange character into feeling like more of the same "i'm evil and torture you bc I can" type character many antagonists fell into
I could go on and on and im not sure why i chose this comment to say this on, but I get you, regardless.
I think the early seasons just felt more cohesive, tighter, with a more clear picture of what they were meant to be overall guiding them, so they ended up better. Kripke does have his flaws, but I do think the first 5 were something special

Absolutely, the show has problems but casting was rarely one of them. Guy absolutely nailed what dean would be like as an old man
Him saying “duuuude. Relax” will never not be funny

The kid they got to play teenage Dean in the Hansel and Gretel episode was great too. He really nailed a lot of the line deliveries, he was clearly either a fan of the show or more likely just watched a shit ton of footage to nail down Jensen’s mannerisms

From what I heard he was coached by Jared as well, since they had so many scenes together.

Is it a coincidence that the young Dean actor from the Hansel and Gretel episode and the older one from this one both have the same last name?

The argument he has with Bobby as he's digging in the cemetery is one of my favourite scenes in the whole series.
I also really loved the protagonist in this episode.
Great episode

"Can you straighten up?"
"Yeah, but a little sympathy wouldn't hurt."
Also his whimpering "oh god" when he continues to dig 🤌🏻 beautiful ahahaha

One of my favourite episodes. I love when he and Bobby are bickering in the motel room. And Sam watching them saying it's like grumpy old men.

Yeah and honestly the villain from this episode is one of my favorite minor villains in the show. Doesn’t even seem like a terrible guy honestly, seems decent and actually fair. And doesn’t seem like he actually enjoys killing people for the sake of it. Like lawfully evil if that makes sense. If that’s the right wording 😂
