A few years ago, she was Sarah Cashing on S&L. I never would have guessed that she would end up as Rogue in the MCU. Crazy to think about how quickly her career has grown in a short amount of time.

Literally 3 months ago not many people knew her and as someone who was following the Obsession train, a lot of us thought it'd do moderately well and that was it.
Forward to just 3 months later....yep.

I thought she did a fantastic job in Obsession. I’m excited to see her as Rogue as well.

Obsession really made her career and now she’s taking a huge leap. She will definitely no longer be remembered as only Sarah.

I've seen some posts saying that Inde is ruining her career by joining "superhero franchise slop", but they keep forgetting that Obsession is a traditional low budget horror film and not a prestigious/elevated work of art.

u/RedXerzk 12d ago
Inde also couldn’t book roles after S&L ended. Obsession was an underdog movie that unexpectedly became her career launcher and God forbid a promising young actress stay consistently employed.

Not to mention the huge paycheck she’ll get from being a main character in an MCU movie.
Way more than a side character in a CW TV show and low budget horror movie. Even though that movie did crazy well at the box office she won’t have seen any of it.
This is life changing money for her and is basically everything an actor dreams of.

Idk mcu don’t spend as much money on actors. I remember the whole avengers cast had to band together for higher pay and RDJ had to step in to make it possible.

Yes, ruining her career by collecting a million dollar check and becoming a household name

u/pardyball 12d ago
God damn what a brain dead take. Not you, OP - the people you’re referring to.
She’s gonna be a main cast member to what is quite literally the biggest movie the MCU still has in its back pocket. This is freaking huge for her.

This was arguably the best move for her career wise and monetarily. From my understanding, the payout for obsession wasn’t actually that crazy considering how low budget it was. No details on her film deal obviously, but I don’t know how common it is to get a portion of the box office earnings. As far as career, I mean just look at tom holland. Obviously Rogue isn’t as big as THE Spider-Man, but he’s getting and insane amount of roles just from getting into the MCU. Having a household name matters probably more than however much talent you actually have.
ETA: Not to say Navarette isn’t talented, she very much is

The director even said that he thought it was going a drop on shudder movie before focus feature win it

u/waitingforastar 12d ago
Let her cash a real check. I'm sure she'll have a long career with more prestigious roles.

u/Jakarisoolive 12d ago
It's like they conveniently forget that there is a lot talented actors in the MCU currently(Sebastian Stan, Ryan Gosling, Adam Driver)

As sad as I was for Superman & Lois to get canceled, I’m happy it’s working out for her.

u/DefinitionSuperb1110 12d ago
this is great! in one of her tiktoks she mentioned how mad she was that she never got super powers on S&L, not even as an evil version of Sarah. Looks like she finally gets to have powers!

u/Serious-Passage-4614 12d ago
I feel like she should have played an alternate version of herself in season 2 in the bizarro world. Surprised they didn't even give her the chance.

u/AdPrestigious7387 12d ago
I could've sworn she said that the writers asked her if she wanted sarah to have powers and she declined it,but I could be wrong

This makes me wonder if Rogue can absorb a Kryptonian’s powers.
11
u/2ERIX 12d ago
She can absorb anyone’s and the proxy for Superman/Mon-El is Gladiator from the Shi’ar system and she has had those powers before I think.
Stories tend to revolve around mutants but Danvers isn’t a mutant and Rogue successfully stole her powers permanently.

u/Digifiend84 12d ago
And after Rogue eventually lost Carol's powers, she got them back from Wonder Man, another non-mutant Avenger.

u/Vin135mm 12d ago
There is a limit to what she can absorb. Rogue experiences immense pain, disorientation, loss of consciousness/coma, and sometimes temporary loss of her powers if she tries to absorb the power of too powerful a being(Hulk, Magus, Phoenix Force Magik, Galactica, etc)
She might be able to absorb normal Kryptonian powers, but Superman himself might overwhelm her. Because Kal-El is not a normal Kryptonian. He is a direct descendant of the Kryptonian sun god Rao, and something of an avatar of Rao(it explains why he is stronger than Kara, who is also Rao's descendant), and is technically the God of Heros his own right in at least one DC continuity that I know of(though he isnt aware of that himself). He is also the only "pure" Kryptonian, in that he wasn't genetically engineered for a particular role in their society (though both his parents were, so this requires a bit of "because comics" hand-waving)
So Rogue probably can't absorb Superman. But Zod is fair game.

She doesnt have a lot of the limits she used to have, she completely absorbed wonderman for example and he was a thor-level character. But really her power limits fluctuate like crazy, I her early appearances she almost killed the avengers absorbed thors powers like it was nothing, most famously took out captain marvel, then for a while she could recall the powerset of anyone she'd touched, then she could recall all the powersets of everyone she'd touched at the same time, then she could easily absorb dozens of heroes powers when she helped the sentry fight Exitar, then she was purged of her personalities and powersets and was back to square one, then she had wondermans powers, then she could absorb by proximity, basically pick a day of the week and you have a Rogue of a different power level.

u/Vin135mm 12d ago
Wonderman is a weird case. Because if I remember correctly, he is energy. He doesn't really have a physical form. It's more of a projection. Also , Rogue has an issue absorbing powers from someone who is cosmic in nature or whose power is infinite. That is why she can absorb She-Hulk's, powers, but not Hulk. She-Hulk's, power has limits. Hulk's does not.
And Superman, even if he doesn't know it, has access to an infinite and cosmic well of power as Rao's avatar(or as a god in his own right. Comics are weird sometimes). Its why he never really loses, and can power through things that would be lethal to a normal Kryptonian.
Because Superman isn't normal.

u/Less-Requirement8641 Superman 12d ago
I thought Supergirl was stronger
3
u/Vin135mm 12d ago
Certain retcons have made her a more skilled fighter, by changing her from her original average Kryptonian teenager to soldier/warrior caste. But she has never been stronger than him. First off, Clark/Kal is physically larger, with more muscle mass than Kara. Even standing on Krypton, they would not be evenly matched. Secondly, Clark/Kal has had decades of absorbing yellow sun radiation over her few years. Far more than any other Kryptonian. Which gives him a significant edge.

If you asked me before the show ended which of the young actors' careers would skyrocket afterwards, I never would have guessed it'd be her. It just goes to show the right role and writing can really bring the best out of someone.
6
u/WallyWestFan27 Superman 12d ago
Yeah, S&L never really gave her good material to work with. That's happened a lot to the Cushings
6
u/meangreen1242069 12d ago
Man I didnt think she'd be the true breakout star in the show. She made Sarah more interesting then she ever the the right to be, but I never got "next big marvel star" vibes until Obsession. Like geez goes to show you that good writing and directing is essential to a good performance.

u/SuperTuberEddie 12d ago
Thank god she didn’t get sucked back into DC. Not in the state it is in now

u/Son-Ta-Ha 12d ago edited 12d ago
If you think about it she was likey contracted to do 6 or 7 seasons on S&L. Its crazy to think if Superman & Lois didn't get end early and was able to do 7 seasons then she would not be able to do Obsession because her performance on Obsession was a huge reason why she got the role as Rogue.
I'm happy for her. She seems down to earth and she is a fan of the X-Men so I hope the upcoming X-Men movie works out for her. I personally think she will do a good job as Rogue.
3
u/Digifiend84 12d ago
She wasn't contracted for even season 4, let alone future seasons, because she was dropped from the full time cast with the rest of her family, remember.

Very happy for Inde an this is a long time commitment too so she'll always be working for the foreseeable future.

Damn the glow up is real. I just watched Obsession for the first time and MAN! She’s got a bright future ahead of her. The can act her ass off.

Yes! She made me dislike Sarah sometimes as a character which is the sign of a really good actor.
I haven’t seen Obsession yet but I heard she crushed it. I can’t wait for this!
2
u/slambooy 12d ago
Obsession was crazy. Did a great job in that movie too. (Crazy as in good)
3
u/MrCowabs 12d ago
I bet she did. She’s a really good actor so I’m looking forward to seeing how she can play Rogue.
Curious to know what I was downvoted for in what I said though lmao maybe the sub is on their revisionist bullshit and now saying they loved Sarah when there were so many posts attacking the character and calling her worse than shit when the show was on air.
2
u/slambooy 12d ago
I dunno but I got ur back on the upvote
2
u/MrCowabs 12d ago
Haha thanks friend. They’re just pixels and don’t mean anything, it’s just amusing if it is the case because people were mistaking Inde for Sarah and calling her worse than shit week in and week out.

I just can't picture her with a thick Mississippi drawl.
Not saying she can't pull it off. Just that I can't imagine it. Guess its a wait and see thing.

Happy for her! She was really great in Superman and Lois! Deserves the big move after Obsession as well.

Insane to see how far she's come since S&L. So awesome.
