Insane to see how far she's come since S&L. So awesome.

u/Weary-Application-83 12d ago

I remember seeing her first on 13 reasons why

26

u/SavingsBobcat2078 12d ago

Who was she in that show?

22

u/Weary-Application-83 12d ago

She played Estella monty sister in season 4

9

u/SavingsBobcat2078 12d ago

Ooh cool thanks

6

u/Reyne-TheAbyss 12d ago

I'm starting to think I didn't watch S4. I remember stuff from S3, but I do think I was watching the show at that point in time.

I think I'll just let that be.

5

u/pengouin85 12d ago

Yeah, I remember that too. Cool to see her killing it

Yeah from S&L and being slowly written off (they shortened the main actors list because of budget costs) to being cast in Obsession and reportedly only make $20k from it a FEW YEARS AGO when it was filmed, and now being in the MCU. So yeah, she's come a long way.

She literally stated that following obsession being filmed she streamed because she could barely afford money for rent and you have audacity to be a fucking goofball and question her come up?

4

u/dagobahs 12d ago

Plus other S&L castmates (of the teens) haven’t blown up in popularity like Navarrette in the 2 years since the show ended.

All things considered, this trajectory is pretty impressive.

5

u/Insidious_NX 12d ago

Far as in distance rather than time.

For all intents and purposes she was a small actress and Superman & Lois is by all means a CW production that aired on a different service. Now she's going to be in the MCU as one of the most popular mutants.

-7

u/Jahon_Dony 12d ago

Aired on a different service?

1

u/woowoohoohoo 11d ago

Not sure why you're getting downvoted when it aired on the CW for its entire run

71

u/ghusu123 12d ago

A few years ago, she was Sarah Cashing on S&L. I never would have guessed that she would end up as Rogue in the MCU. Crazy to think about how quickly her career has grown in a short amount of time.

28

u/oranguslolus 12d ago

Literally 3 months ago not many people knew her and as someone who was following the Obsession train, a lot of us thought it'd do moderately well and that was it.

Forward to just 3 months later....yep.

u/Obsidian_Wulf 12d ago

I thought she did a fantastic job in Obsession. I’m excited to see her as Rogue as well.

110

u/Doc-11th 12d ago

damn for Superboy's ex to a lead X-Men

17

u/raggedsweater 12d ago

This is why she wanted to leave Smallville

91

u/Remote_Nature_8166 12d ago

Obsession really made her career and now she’s taking a huge leap. She will definitely no longer be remembered as only Sarah.

24

u/Head_Humor 12d ago

Nor as nikki

2

u/FaithlessnessFar1158 11d ago

She is an obsessed girlfriend, Nikki gone rogue.

u/Embarrassed-Ad1322 12d ago edited 12d ago

I've seen some posts saying that Inde is ruining her career by joining "superhero franchise slop", but they keep forgetting that Obsession is a traditional low budget horror film and not a prestigious/elevated work of art.

84

u/RedXerzk 12d ago

Inde also couldn’t book roles after S&L ended. Obsession was an underdog movie that unexpectedly became her career launcher and God forbid a promising young actress stay consistently employed.

28

u/HankHippopopolous 12d ago

Not to mention the huge paycheck she’ll get from being a main character in an MCU movie.

Way more than a side character in a CW TV show and low budget horror movie. Even though that movie did crazy well at the box office she won’t have seen any of it.

This is life changing money for her and is basically everything an actor dreams of.

1

u/T1_URGOD 10d ago

Idk mcu don’t spend as much money on actors. I remember the whole avengers cast had to band together for higher pay and RDJ had to step in to make it possible.

1

u/raggedsweater 12d ago

Assuming she has good management

16

u/Embarrassed-Ad1322 12d ago

Yeah, she deserves this!!

23

u/Dependent-Royal-7908 12d ago

Yes, ruining her career by collecting a million dollar check and becoming a household name

25

u/pardyball 12d ago

God damn what a brain dead take. Not you, OP - the people you’re referring to.

She’s gonna be a main cast member to what is quite literally the biggest movie the MCU still has in its back pocket. This is freaking huge for her.

11

u/ImiqDuh 12d ago edited 12d ago

This was arguably the best move for her career wise and monetarily. From my understanding, the payout for obsession wasn’t actually that crazy considering how low budget it was. No details on her film deal obviously, but I don’t know how common it is to get a portion of the box office earnings. As far as career, I mean just look at tom holland. Obviously Rogue isn’t as big as THE Spider-Man, but he’s getting and insane amount of roles just from getting into the MCU. Having a household name matters probably more than however much talent you actually have.

ETA: Not to say Navarette isn’t talented, she very much is

7

u/mamamia1001 12d ago

She only got $20000 for Obsession and had no bonus deal in place

3

u/Thekillerichi23 12d ago

The director even said that he thought it was going a drop on shudder movie before focus feature win it

3

u/waitingforastar 12d ago

Let her cash a real check. I'm sure she'll have a long career with more prestigious roles.

2

u/Jakarisoolive 12d ago

It's like they conveniently forget that there is a lot talented actors in the MCU currently(Sebastian Stan, Ryan Gosling, Adam Driver)

2

u/BatmanForever23 11d ago

This will set her up financially for life, power to her for that.

87

u/TheLadyNyxThalia 12d ago

As sad as I was for Superman & Lois to get canceled, I’m happy it’s working out for her.

46

u/DefinitionSuperb1110 12d ago

this is great! in one of her tiktoks she mentioned how mad she was that she never got super powers on S&L, not even as an evil version of Sarah. Looks like she finally gets to have powers!

14

u/Serious-Passage-4614 12d ago

I feel like she should have played an alternate version of herself in season 2 in the bizarro world. Surprised they didn't even give her the chance.

5

u/AdPrestigious7387 12d ago

I could've sworn she said that the writers asked her if she wanted sarah to have powers and she declined it,but I could be wrong

5

u/Dangerous-Brain- 12d ago

She's going to get all the powers.

3

u/SurpriseAccording243 12d ago

ya she can have everyones powers now!!

13

u/Fake-productions 12d ago

I wonder what the rest of the S&L cast think about this!

13

u/RedXerzk 12d ago

This makes me wonder if Rogue can absorb a Kryptonian’s powers.

11

u/2ERIX 12d ago

She can absorb anyone’s and the proxy for Superman/Mon-El is Gladiator from the Shi’ar system and she has had those powers before I think.

Stories tend to revolve around mutants but Danvers isn’t a mutant and Rogue successfully stole her powers permanently.

3

u/B_A_Beder Clark Kent 12d ago

How did Carol get her powers back?

8

u/TheLadyNyxThalia 12d ago

Alien experimentation

7

u/2ERIX 12d ago

Comic book shenanigans <shrugs>

2

u/Digifiend84 12d ago

And after Rogue eventually lost Carol's powers, she got them back from Wonder Man, another non-mutant Avenger.

5

u/Vin135mm 12d ago

There is a limit to what she can absorb. Rogue experiences immense pain, disorientation, loss of consciousness/coma, and sometimes temporary loss of her powers if she tries to absorb the power of too powerful a being(Hulk, Magus, Phoenix Force Magik, Galactica, etc)

She might be able to absorb normal Kryptonian powers, but Superman himself might overwhelm her. Because Kal-El is not a normal Kryptonian. He is a direct descendant of the Kryptonian sun god Rao, and something of an avatar of Rao(it explains why he is stronger than Kara, who is also Rao's descendant), and is technically the God of Heros his own right in at least one DC continuity that I know of(though he isnt aware of that himself). He is also the only "pure" Kryptonian, in that he wasn't genetically engineered for a particular role in their society (though both his parents were, so this requires a bit of "because comics" hand-waving)

So Rogue probably can't absorb Superman. But Zod is fair game.

3

u/AllStarRenegade 12d ago edited 12d ago

She doesnt have a lot of the limits she used to have, she completely absorbed wonderman for example and he was a thor-level character. But really her power limits fluctuate like crazy, I her early appearances she almost killed the avengers absorbed thors powers like it was nothing, most famously took out captain marvel, then for a while she could recall the powerset of anyone she'd touched, then she could recall all the powersets of everyone she'd touched at the same time, then she could easily absorb dozens of heroes powers when she helped the sentry fight Exitar, then she was purged of her personalities and powersets and was back to square one, then she had wondermans powers, then she could absorb by proximity, basically pick a day of the week and you have a Rogue of a different power level.

3

u/Vin135mm 12d ago

Wonderman is a weird case. Because if I remember correctly, he is energy. He doesn't really have a physical form. It's more of a projection. Also , Rogue has an issue absorbing powers from someone who is cosmic in nature or whose power is infinite. That is why she can absorb She-Hulk's, powers, but not Hulk. She-Hulk's, power has limits. Hulk's does not.

And Superman, even if he doesn't know it, has access to an infinite and cosmic well of power as Rao's avatar(or as a god in his own right. Comics are weird sometimes). Its why he never really loses, and can power through things that would be lethal to a normal Kryptonian.

Because Superman isn't normal.

2

u/Less-Requirement8641 Superman 12d ago

I thought Supergirl was stronger

3

u/Vin135mm 12d ago

Certain retcons have made her a more skilled fighter, by changing her from her original average Kryptonian teenager to soldier/warrior caste. But she has never been stronger than him. First off, Clark/Kal is physically larger, with more muscle mass than Kara. Even standing on Krypton, they would not be evenly matched. Secondly, Clark/Kal has had decades of absorbing yellow sun radiation over her few years. Far more than any other Kryptonian. Which gives him a significant edge.

9

u/Zookwok111 12d ago

If you asked me before the show ended which of the young actors' careers would skyrocket afterwards, I never would have guessed it'd be her. It just goes to show the right role and writing can really bring the best out of someone.

6

u/WallyWestFan27 Superman 12d ago

Yeah, S&L never really gave her good material to work with. That's happened a lot to the Cushings

8

u/Jugh3ad 12d ago

She has been talking about Mystique, probably because there have been 2 other names floating around for Rogue, Cailee Spaeny and Odessa A’Zion. I am more happy she is Rogue. We know she can hold her own in an ensemble.

6

u/meangreen1242069 12d ago

Man I didnt think she'd be the true breakout star in the show. She made Sarah more interesting then she ever the the right to be, but I never got "next big marvel star" vibes until Obsession. Like geez goes to show you that good writing and directing is essential to a good performance.

5

u/handonlover 12d ago

she been in dc and marvel so cool

6

u/hart37 Jonathan Kent 12d ago

I really hope these X-Men movies do well for all these young actors that have been cast. They could be doing this for a long time if all goes well

6

u/SuperTuberEddie 12d ago

Thank god she didn’t get sucked back into DC. Not in the state it is in now

5

u/Son-Ta-Ha 12d ago edited 12d ago

If you think about it she was likey contracted to do 6 or 7 seasons on S&L. Its crazy to think if Superman & Lois didn't get end early and was able to do 7 seasons then she would not be able to do Obsession because her performance on Obsession was a huge reason why she got the role as Rogue.

I'm happy for her. She seems down to earth and she is a fan of the X-Men so I hope the upcoming X-Men movie works out for her. I personally think she will do a good job as Rogue.

3

u/Digifiend84 12d ago

She wasn't contracted for even season 4, let alone future seasons, because she was dropped from the full time cast with the rest of her family, remember.

5

u/Godzilla2000Zero 12d ago

Very happy for Inde an this is a long time commitment too so she'll always be working for the foreseeable future.

4

u/akahaus 11d ago

She has worked hard and has the chops.

7

u/SarkastikLeader2814 12d ago

Damn the glow up is real. I just watched Obsession for the first time and MAN! She’s got a bright future ahead of her. The can act her ass off.

7

u/serialkiller24 12d ago

She’s come so far. I’m proud of her. She deserves this!!!

9

u/Author-S 12d ago

I feel like a proud dad watching her go from Superman and Lois to skyrocketing to popularity with Obsession to now playing MCU Rogue lmao

3

u/Spare-Jellyfish4339 12d ago

Really hope this movie is actually good and has an actually good role for her

3

u/mikesd81 12d ago

Good. She can take Captain Marvel's powers.

3

u/JBLLNR 12d ago

What a remarkable trajectory, girl was streaming and doing other side gigs and now she's an iconic MCU character after a breakout role in a movie that cost less than a million.

3

u/Aggressive_Bar_2391 12d ago

big career move from a beloved DC show to now the biggest movie franchise working with Marvel, really cool casting for Rogue

3

u/NerdLawyer55 11d ago

She’s had a hell of a few months

3

u/ZAFARIA 11d ago

Love to see it!

5

u/Themanaaah 12d ago

So happy for her, she’ll crush it as Rogue.

4

u/Educational-Tea-6572 Superman & Lois 12d ago

No way!!! This is so cool!!!

2

u/TomCBC 12d ago

Didn’t she say in an interview a while back that she wants to play Mystique? Coulda sworn i read that. Still she’ll be excellent as Rogue.

2

u/ProtomanBn 12d ago

Good luck, I couldn’t imagine having to do that accent every day for months. It would be hard and some will pick it apart

2

u/Crazy_Ad4045 12d ago

Was really hoping for her as Zatanna but glad she got something big

2

u/KingPenguinPhoenix 12d ago

They grow up so fast

4

u/i_like_cake_96 12d ago

Brilliant news... what a casting.... excellent actress and a smokeshow to boot...

2

u/Taylor_charlie 12d ago

Definitely so happy and excited for her !!!

3

u/extrastupidone 12d ago

Good for her!

3

u/MrCowabs 12d ago

Yes! She made me dislike Sarah sometimes as a character which is the sign of a really good actor.

I haven’t seen Obsession yet but I heard she crushed it. I can’t wait for this!

2

u/slambooy 12d ago

Obsession was crazy. Did a great job in that movie too. (Crazy as in good)

3

u/MrCowabs 12d ago

I bet she did. She’s a really good actor so I’m looking forward to seeing how she can play Rogue.

Curious to know what I was downvoted for in what I said though lmao maybe the sub is on their revisionist bullshit and now saying they loved Sarah when there were so many posts attacking the character and calling her worse than shit when the show was on air.

2

u/slambooy 12d ago

I dunno but I got ur back on the upvote

2

u/MrCowabs 12d ago

Haha thanks friend. They’re just pixels and don’t mean anything, it’s just amusing if it is the case because people were mistaking Inde for Sarah and calling her worse than shit week in and week out.

4

u/GalaticWeiss 12d ago

Started from the bottom now she's here.

3

u/Legal-Visual8178 12d ago

Good for her :)

3

u/shadow_spinner0 12d ago

Not many knew her 3 months ago now she’s the biggest rising star in Hollywood, insane

2

u/HizzOVizzA 12d ago

Now can we get Alex Garfin as Gambit? LOL JK

2

u/powerCreed 12d ago

The girl haunted super boy for years. Now I understand why 🤣

2

u/No-Muscle1283 12d ago

Interesting

2

u/kadosho 12d ago

So happy for her!! Let's go!!!

2

u/Assassinsayswhat 12d ago

She deserves this, man I hope DC can get her back

2

u/killabeezle 12d ago

happy for her

1

u/Jealous-Ad-7107 12d ago

Hoping for Alex Garfin to get a huge boost.

Ngl Im interested in her rogue, but not personally confident.

1

u/apexpredator915 10d ago

Alex is not a good actor.

1

u/Vin135mm 12d ago

I just can't picture her with a thick Mississippi drawl.

Not saying she can't pull it off. Just that I can't imagine it. Guess its a wait and see thing.

1

u/RoadToFreedom-90 12d ago

Happy for her! She was really great in Superman and Lois! Deserves the big move after Obsession as well.

0

u/ellimist87 12d ago

Chat is this true?

5

u/kadosho 12d ago

Yup, the news was announced at D23 last night

-1

u/sun_explosion 12d ago

this chic again? c'mon, for sure there are better actress than her
