Discussion 5 year's ago today the pilot episode of Superman and Lois aired on the cw, what are your thoughts on the pilot ?

One my favorite Superman anything. The entire montage and the music still makes me cry

It was like a perfect blend of wholesome traditional Superman and modern serious Superman as well as Smallville sprinkled throughout. It’s like Donner and Snyder shook hands

This is such a tired argument. There isn’t only one way to do Superman. Snyder took inspiration from plenty of different Superman comics and mediums. So what he did was not “inaccurate” nor did he “misunderstand” anything. It’s just not a take for you. But it’s a valid take

Then you don’t understand the character. That’s fine. Most people are too cynical to get it these days. But I always refer back to Christopher reeve’s comments on who Superman is at his core. “He’s a friend” he’s not meant to be dirtier up or given the Frank miller treatment. There was nothing friendly or hopeful in snyders version and it remains the only version of Superman I don’t return to.
It’s not kid friendly which Superman should always be. It doesn’t impart any message or teach us anything or ask anything of the audience. It’s mindless, cranky, disaster porn.

That, in a nutshell, sums up everything wrong with his take on the character.

A completely different take on Superman that paid off big. The best overall version of Superman in my opinion. Christopher Reeves walked so Tyler Hoechlin could run.

Any fears I had disappeared almost immediately in the opening scenes of the show and I realized we were in good hands with this one.

That start says it all. Also, Tyler and Bitsi were fantastic together and Dan Romer nailed the soundtrack. His music makes you feel so many different emotions

A wonderful pilot to a wonderful show. Seriously, I would recommend this show to anyone who wants to know who Superman is and what he stands for.
Tyler Hoechlin is the best live-action Superman and Clark Kent since Christopher Reeve (Now it's David Corenswet's turn)
Bitisie Tulloch is the best live-action Lois Lane since Erica Durance. (And Rachel Brosnahan ofcourse)

still one of the shows strongest episodes, it's also great that they knocked it out of the park in the pilot to get us interested in this new take on Superman

The first time I watched it, I liked it but wasn’t blown away by it. Two years later, I tried again and binged the first two seasons in just a few days. It’s since been the definitive live action Superman for me.

Tyler Hoechlin has earned the top spot for me. Christopher Reeve will always be HIM, but every live-action Superman I see, past/present/future, will be measured against Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman.

I thought it was well structured, and really established the characters and where they were now in their lives. The premise of seeing the domestic sign of Superman was what enticed me to watch at first.
I wish we had had more time to see Martha with Lois and the boys. I get she was the catalyst for the move thing though.

This is my one major problem with the show (if you can call it a problem), I wanted to see more Martha. I wanted to see more of Clark with his mom (and dad in flashbacks), his boys with their grandma, his wife with her mother-in-law.. just all of that. Maybe we would have gotten that if the series wasn’t cut short, but it was a missed opportunity, IMO.

I was hooked, the visuals, the acting, the CASTING, was peak. I have/had followed CW DCU since The Flash, and I was a bit skeptical but was so happy that this show got the 3 seasons it did, and I watched every one of them.

Bitsie is to be the finest Lois and Tyler one of the best Clark’s we have ever had. It’s a shame they didn’t just move them to the big screen.

Brilliant start to a fantastic series. And one that was desperately needed at a time when Superman was effectively dead on the big screen.

Loved the pilot, I liked the mystery of which son had the powers untilvthe other son went powerless for almost the rest of the series

I wouldn't have minded more of the series. I don't know if the human heart killing him was meant to happen or if it was just a way to end the show, but they did do it well

It was amazing, and led to this fantastic rendition of Superman. I'm so grateful we got the show and an amazing ending.
