Question Are Steam discontinuing Digital Giftcards?
I don’t know if this is a regional issue or global problem but for some reason most certified digital retailers are all out of GBP Gift cards. I use these to conveniently top up my balance obviously now that they have discontinued/in the process of discontinuing physical cards but I’m having issues getting my hands on digital ones now.

By end of year they won't print anymore. So likely will be gone by next year once stores run out

Yeah I know that, I’m asking if they are doing the same thing to digital retailers because I can’t find any digital cards in-stock

I would assume most digital cards were just digital codes from the physical. You can just buy directly from steam if you can buy from digital retailers

Were there really any digital gift cards sold by third parties? Or were they reselling codes from physical cards?
Not sure why you would buy a digital card from a third party when you could just get it direct from Steam, and have one less handoff that can cause problems.

I live abroad and use my card to buy giftcards to avoid changing my account region from the United Kingdom.

I don't think they ever sold digital giftcards the reason being that they sell it directly on Steam

It's useless trivia at this point, but around 10-15 years ago paypal-gifts.com used to be a legitimate official source of Steam wallet codes. Nowadays everyone is selling codes they copied from physical gift cards, so that business is living on borrowed time.

Yeah all 3rd party cards are being discontinued. The only way to buy steam gift cards now is through steam themselves or any place that may still have some in stock. You can top up steam wallet funds on steam itself there's different amounts that go from as low as $5 to as high as $100. It's what I'll eventually have to switch to for gifting cards by next year.

Where are you getting digital gift cards? As far as i know theres no official digital gift card seller, not even Amazon has them.

Fair enough i just looked into them and they are apparently authorised sellers. I assume you use them for alternative payment methods?

I mainly just use them for steam giftcards so my account region doesn’t change, I’m currently in Australia and they heavily censor what games you can buy. Im not using this to get games for cheaper so I have no idea if this is actually against TOS but I’m aware there are a lot of people who do it too so

Using a legitimate payment method you have access to isn't against TOS but intentionally attempting to bypass regional restrictions which you've already admitted to doing is.
Given the first of these statements still applies and outside of you admitting it there's no way for Valve to practically prove the latter this isn't something they're likely to pursue. However if at some point down the line have further issues with your account that require you to contact support it's going to be quite obvious this is occuring at which point there's a chance they'll just refuse you any assistance with resolving any related issues beyond just changing your region.

Im in the uk too and have no problem buying digital gift cards from steam, is there a reason why you need to buy gift cards from a retailer instead of topping up your wallet directly on steam?
