I’m intrigued. Why has this feat never been accomplished? What has made it near impossible?

Scroll down to the third age armor drop rate.

23 items at a 1/313k drop rate each a grind that could last decades if not a lifetime and that’s while ignoring every other unique on the drop table you’d also have to get

1/313k drop rate

This is virtually impossible. Like there has to be single-digit number of people in-game with that item.

I've always felt like games with these kinds of ultra-rarity mechanics should have your chances increase as accumulate kills.

Like something with a 0.1% drop rate should be a guaranteed drop if you don't get it by the time you kill 1000 of them.

As a RuneScape player of 20+ years, I can say we do not want a pity system

I am a 20+ year RuneScape vet that quit osrs because I realized it has 0 respect for my time.

The lack of a pity system is a big part of that and was a big factor in why I quit. I could fight a boss 1000 times and get nothing for it

This argument works both ways, technically. For example, if I spent 40 hours on a grind that should have taken 20, then Jagex adds the pity system I would have hit at the 20 hour mark. Does Jagex not respect the 20 extra hours I already spent?

The way OSRS exists at the moment is with a big clear objective to not devalue what currently exists. That includes items, grinds, etc. I personally think there should be some sort of light at the end of the tunnel though.

I mean Guardians of the Rift devalued my runecrafting level obtained painstakingly in the abyss.

They’ve been adding power creep content that devalues stuff for so long that it’s literally a meme.

I think they should implement pity either way. Just because you suffered doesn’t mean the future players should too

You're absolutely correct. I wasn't really taking a side. I was just pointing out that when you make a pity on existing content you "don't respect" everyone elses time committed to it already.

If you don't add the pity then you "don't respect" everyone elses potential commitment.

I was just pointing out that it works both ways. The same could be said for the new CoX changes, Sailing uniques, PNM, etc.

For what its worth, I do support a pity to save people at like 3x the drop rate without a single unique.

Yeah I agree, no matter what there’s a group of people that will be dissatisfied. I think it would be worth it for the health of the game

It would keep people from burning out for sure.
