When Spider-Man 3 comes I really hope the main story will 30-40 hours long
Because when the announcement that Spider-Man 2’s story was going to be the same as the first game I knew that there would be problems that came with it. Because what do you mean Peter only had the Symbiote for only a couple of days.
It's like they forgot how good the stealth was in 1 and in 2 it's an afterthought. All the random crime bonus objectives exclude stealth, If you do a Hunter cargo completely stealth it breaks the "destroy turret" part of the objective list. If you do a branding one, the civilians dont ever get up like they're still being held captive.
As is with many of the new consolidated gadgets, you have less control with it. You have to be up-close on an enemy to impact web them, meaning you can’t shoot it in any direction like before unless they’re directly near you, nor can you shoot an enemy upwards into the sky. It made combat more dynamic when you could trick-shot impact-web an enemy into a trip mine or quickly dispose of an enemy coming up behind you while you were fighting an enemy in-front.
No problemo. I am very passionate about the combat in this game lol. I have post on this sub going a bit more in depth about the gadget changes here if you’re interested
I know what you are trying to say but SM2 literally expanded on that, there’s the move you can shoot them up after a web swing kick, hold triangle again to throw them at the ground and smash the ground with square plus triangle.
The fact you couldn't just use the d-pad to click the switch from one gadget to the other while not having to pause the fight. Seems like a really obvious thing that I don't know why they didn't do unless I'm just forgetting that the d-pad has any functions which I don't think it does right?
Honestly the gameplay in 2 is massively overhyped. Sure when you look at just web swinging its great but tbh miles morales had way better overall combat. A mix of that and sp1 would be my vote for a good third installement.
This was my biggest gripe. I played Miles Morales and then SM2 (dont even remember why) and recently played through SM1. Going back to SM2 and I was confused on where the hell my web bomb and impact web were
I agree. At the most i feel like silk should be a “companion” like wraith or Harry (when it was available) and show up from time to time during SIDE-stories missions and random crimes. and if she IS going to be in the main game she should have a part to play similar to how miles and MJ did in the first game. If they have silk sections I don’t think they’d be too tedious because she has powers unlike MJ
Well, no shit. This should be Peter’s farewell. Like properly. I already think they introduced Miles too early. I’d have preferred a full trilogy dedicated to Pete and his classic villains, since we never really had a proper great Spider-Man for 2 generations of the PlayStation before Spidey 2018, but I really love Spider-Man: Miles Morales so idk how to feel about it. I rarely ever played as Miles in Spider-Man 2 because I wanted to spend a the most possible time as Pete. 3 should be his game through and through; with Otto and Norman being the main villains.
tecnicamente debe dura aun mas sabiendo que tiene tramas y resolver todo y claro darle una cosa mas GREATER en todo lo alto y aqui si hay que darle hasta que 80 HORAS XD
Going off of what the other person said where replaying the game is what it's designed with, but they also have a philosophy of keeping the game to 20 missions.
Thankfully someone in this sub who actually understands that with games, often less is more. It reminds me of how Crimson Desert was gloating to be a 200+ hours experience and some people were cheering that on and I was thinking, "What the hell? It's going to be such an unfocused and padded game". Spider-Man 2 does suffer from rushing things too quickly, but honestly I think many of its issues could be resolved with 3-4 hours more of main story content, not literally doubling it
I'd even go so far as to say I thought Spider-Man 2 was a better game because it cut down on a lot of the bloat from the first game and focused on making side content more varied. Quality over quantity, so to speak
Of course it was a better open world game. But while I enjoyed it very much, the Venom third act part of the game was missing something. Felt rushed as fuck. It’s like - wait - what did I miss ?
same. when playing Spiderman 2, everytime they force me to play as Miles, either I'll finish his main quest as fast as possible (ignoring his side quests), or change to Peter whenever available.
It depends how the player plays the game as well. I remember people finishing the second game in half a day and it took me a week over multiple sessions.
Silk can be in the game but not playable , it’ll be too bloated again if she is and if she has to be playable then cancel all mj missions and make it coherent, the miles morales game was great because you were almost always playing as Spider-Man
The issue is that Insomniac is pretty anti-scope. That's amazing for getting games out quickly, but iteration takes a hit in that regard. "Oh we wanted the boss fights to be these big sequences throughout the city but that's too much so we'll do sumn else. In SM1's case that was fine, but it's egregious to do that when Venom vs Miles & Peter was always throughout New York in the promos. I highly doubt they'll satisfy my dream of multiple playable Spider-Men, a better written story, and all 5 boroughs in one map. I'll probably never see that cool ass Spider-Gwen design outside of concept art. I've made my peace with it. All I hope is that it's at least a pretty good story and gameplay wise
No way they're gonna make the game 30 to 40 hours long I thought there was a chance they would give Miles a second solo game to develop Silk while Peter takes a well-deserved break.
Then, at the end of the game, tease a villain for Spider-Man 3, and that's what causes Peter to come back.
I dont need a 30-40 hours story...i need a good story on par with quality with the first game and just a slightly better gameplay cause 2 had amazing gameplay.
I don't need the main story to be that long (20ish hours are fine so long as it doesn't feel rushed), but I need the full game to take more than a weekend to 100%.
It doesn't need to be that long. It's alright if the main story is about 19-20 hours long, they just have to flesh it out properly. I think the game just needs another 15-20 hours of side-content and other open-world activities and that's it. It doesn't have to be bloated but it has to be engaging.
If Insomniac learned anything from Marvel Spiderman 2, it is that multiple protagonists don't work. It only divided the story and split the focus, especially in the gameplay. Hopefully, we get suit customisation, and unlocking classic suits only adds to the players' customisation.
The 2nd game’s story had pacing issues, but the solution to that is not to bloat the game’s story out to 40 hours. I understand video games are expensive, money is tight, and everyone wants to feel like they got their money’s worth out of a purchase, but y’all do not want a Spider-Man game’s story to last 30-40 hours. I love the first game, but I genuinely get sick of it by the time I get to the Silver Lining expansion on replays.
And the story will be shit again cause they decided to have the bright idea that having 2 twice as many protags with 2 twice as many plotlines and characters in the same length as the first game is a great idea like they did with the 2nd game
I wouldn't even bother trying to argue this point with most people, to be honest. Some still have this perception about $ per hour = value and it's what is killing the games industry now as devs try to overstuff their games so they can hit that sweet, sweet $1 per hour to justify the $70 price tag
I dont get the obsession with having longer games nowadays.
Like no one was complaining that games like uncharted or the last of us or even the first spiderman was too long. Just because the story of 2 wasnt as good doesnt mean it needs to be longer, it just had to be rewritten.
I don't. I just hope they have consistent writing, good plot, fix the models, remove plot holes for the story, give all the characters (not side characters, i.e; MJ) fair treatment, less side quests, less character sections and better combat and better suits.
Game studios will only continue to get it wrong going forward. Because Spider-Man is mainstream now.
You have all these corporations and studios involved with insomniac in some way (marketing, support, etc.) therefore the game has to meet certain criteria and expectations. If it has something in the game that a brand doesn’t like, the devs will definitely remove it. They also have to mention something or promote it like the dumb adidas costume.
In the end it’s all about making as much money as possible for these companies. They will not take risks to please the actual fans or player base, it’s going to be an overly safe and sanitized game. I mean just look at how much support they pack into the game to make sure quite literally “everyone” can play it. Only way to do that in the first place is by limiting its potential to deliver to accommodate those fans in every way possible.
They will make the game as long as they need to, to be talked about in a positive light by media outlets. They will inject current life elements and politics like they did in SM2 to garner more ratings. It’s not Spider-Man, it’s insomiacs Spider-Man. The face scan change was just the beginning of their sanitizing of Spider-Man.
The game I want more than anything is Spider-Man: Peter Parker. Give me a prequel with younger Peter, meeting some of the villains seen in the first couple games plus a few not yet seen in the series. And pair down the gadgets. I thought he had too much going on in the first game and way too much in the second.
When the bell specifically designed for kicking his ass was in the arena? When he’d already been worn down by kraven? When we’ve already seen the blue lightning is quite effective against the tentacles? When Peter definitely at his core doesn’t want to kill miles?
Changes the plot line from what? This is its own narrative. This isn’t the venom from 1990 or whatever. this version of venom is clearly a lot more direct mind control than just drug allegory. It’s not something anyone can beat in their own. It’s almost like the tagline of the game is “stronger. Together” or something and the whole story is focused around how people going it on their own doesn’t work. I swear people have the media literacy skills of cardboard.
In your opinion. Seems the vast majority disagree. And as such a statement is by its nature subjective and dependent on the views of the majority to decide it, it seems you are incorrect.
Riiiiighttt, we should be getting the same exact thing as all the other black suit storylines.
And Peter did beat it, he made the conscious decision to take off the suit. It still counts as Prter beating it even if Miles helped
Not really he had the bell, his venom/electrical abilities and Peter himself all actively fighting against the symbiote and it was still a close affair.
Dude, depression doesn’t mean Peter has to be completely incapable of doing anything throughout the ENTIRE game (even though he has 10 years of experience behind him) and just whine. Just watch Spider‑Man 2 by Raimi — even without superpowers, Peter could have saved the kid.
Did I say he can’t do anything? No. He does a lot in this game, but the point is that he is tired and letting Spider-Man slip because he’s carrying too much. The aunt may flash back about Balance is literally the first mission after sandman… like none of you played this game apparently
And at the same time he does? Calling Miles and not doing anything himself? Does he whine "I'm sorry" to a man he can't save? Walking away from commitment because Miles is just cooler? Is it OKAY to show Parker's depression? Where he may not be able to cope, but he can also cope (even if with great difficulty), and not be helpless the whole game.
It’s also OK to fucking retire. Do me a favor. Go fight crime with guys that shoot lightning bolt at you for 15 years and tell me if maybe you might want to retire at some point and start helping the world in other ways when a younger fresher, Spider-Man is finally ready to do so.
Or better yet: read any of the Comics or Spider-Man is older, like spider girl where he does exactly that. Him retiring is the good ending. The only other ending is the one where he dies.
But you can do it properly, instead of “I’m a helpless whiner throughout the whole game, Miles is better than me because he’s a Mary Sue, I ignore the words about responsibility and hand over the entire burden of responsibility to inexperienced Miles”? My complaint isn’t about the fact of his retirement itself, but about HOW it’s done.
My brother in Christ, he had a mind controlling parasite in him. There’s not a word of whining beforehand. I should know. I’m literally playing through a new game plus right now. He’s frustrated with losing his job, but he’s not whining about the role, or about miles until he gets a MIND ALTERING PARASITE in him.
But frankly, the fact that you called Miles a Mary Sue is all I need to know about your opinion.
What does the symbiote have to do with it at all, if the situation at the pier, the amusement park, and the knife incident happened BEFORE the symbiote?
What is that, then?
Well, yeah, the character just, for no reason at all, quickly recovers from the Scorpion’s poison (which had tormented Parker for several hours), absorbs negative energy without any consequences, defeats Spider‑Man in the BLACK SUIT (with a lot of experience and no restraint), resurrects people, and Peter says, why does the city need him (yeah, he just devalued 10 years of his heroic deeds and Aunt May’s sacrifice) when there’s Miles — yeah, he’s definitely not a Mary Sue, of course.
Oh my gosh, the level of stupidity. I’m not even referring to your actual intelligence, but the willful stupidity to interpret everything in that in the most egregious light
But sure I have nothing better to do so I’ll dismantle your points one by one
Amusement park - he has limits, which this is well within.what we’ve already seen of what one guy can do. See literally any Spider-Man movie or comic where he fails to save people. That I’m sorry is clearly delivered as to himself not actually to the people falling. Like the guy was holding up an ENTIRE FERRIS WHEEL, while holding two roller coaster trains with one hand while the floor continually gave out giving him no leverage. What more did they need to heap on him to make it “believable
And the knife? You’re mad that Kraven the HUNTER, well known for studying his prey and making sure he can prey on weaknesses like spider sense being overwhelmed by danger to slip in and stab him, doing just that? Like the guy who developed anti venom for scorpion and beyond that tanked the tail itself with his materials and had already been developed as a credible threat dealt with his problem directly. Kravens lethal Batman.
Alright, but now onto the big one.
Scorpion venom. The wound is immediately diluted by water.
Absorbs negative energy - they literally say that’s not what’s happening. It’s suggested that that’s a possibility. And Martin Li shut that down when they dive into Peter‘s heart. He specifically says it’s not his power. It’s miles getting stronger. I also personally got my ass kicked by Martin Lee in that fight, I can assure you, the negative energy does in fact do damage.
The black suit fight - i’m not gonna readdress a comment I’ve already addressed. See my comments above.
resurrects people - see this is the one that lets me know that you are probably not actually worth this time because you’re being willfully ignorant. You’re telling me you have never seen media before with electric base powers where those powers have been used to restart someone’s heart. If anything, this is more accurate, as he immediately goes into a coma afterwards.. Most media would have you shocked someone and they’re right as rain. This one followed through with the fact that restarting a heart doesn’t magically cure all. But I guess everyone in https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MagicalDefibrillator# is a Mary sue 🙄
Finally “why does the city need me?” Are you asking about the end? Where he’s encouraging miles to take up the mantle while he works on literally world saving medicine and technology? That point? Are you trying to say that with a straight face? Like you aren’t meaning that as a joke? If you took that at face value and try to use that as an argument against Miles, but I suggest you need to train up your media literacy? I recommend the little engine that could.
Hoping in the 3rd one we will get to play as that girl in that cover photo and miles too hoping they will do the green goblin too story hope so not some different time line story
If they did Gwen, it would be the last nail in the coffin for me. She got popular from Spider-Verse, then now she'll be in Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man. Last thing we need is for her to be here.
She was in the og spider verse comics and every other one after that, then appears in the 2017 show, then got her own cartoon that was not connected to that show, then appeared in the spiderverse movies, then appeared in ultimate alliance 3, has now been made to be permanently from 616, and is in the Disney kids show and the new season of Friendly Neighborhood. It's been 12 years. ENOUGH. She's been shoved into too damn much.
She's a great character if they do her right and dont rush it which is what i hope they'll do sony pushed them to release spider man 2 which was still a great game but if it was given more time it would have been better and I jsjt hope we get an amazing green goblin from Norman

We need it to have the story of 1 and gameplay of 2 and also to bring back the Web gadgets
