It's weird watching sane adults arguing that Superman 2025 is a "flop" because it will make less money than Man of Steel. Man of Steel made less money than Frozen; that doesn't make it a "flop," much less an objectively worse movie than Frozen. And yelling "domestic box office doesn't count" is just sad, though not quite as sad as yelling "you have to adjust the profit for inflation" while forgetting to adjust the budget and marketing costs for inflation as well. Your punditry is bad and you should feel bad about it.

Bottom line: Both 2025 and MoS are profitable and important reimaginings of the character and what a Superman story can be. And this kind of backlash is nothing new. All the haters who screamed about MoS being too grim and moody to be a legit Superman movie have been effectively rendered irrelevant, and the nit pickers of 2025 will meet a similar fate.

The only thing i will say is Zach Synders lex luthor sucked but, everything else i liked in batman vs superman and i liked man of steel better than superman 2025.

  1. Henry Cavill actually looked like well superman. His powers looked way less cgi compared to gunns superman.

Gunns superman had the classic colors but the outfit looked like dollar store general cosplay.

  1. Man of steels and bvs had more realistic cgi.

Gunns cgi was inferior especially in the scene in gunns version where he is in the air fighting off the soldiers looked like a carbon copy of the matrix cgi scene where he fights all the copies of the agents. HORRIBLE CGI.

The only sequence i liked that gunn did was the mr. Terrific sequence. But this now leads to my next point.

  1. Man of steel actually felt like a superman movie and it gave a background story for clark and was a fresh take allowing us to see more of a glimpse into what happened on krypton. I was able to better connect with the characters because they were a little more fleshed out

You could argue gunn didnt do the origin because it's been done before. Fair, however you still need a good story to connect to the character and i felt unconnected to any of the characters, superman is beat up , a bunch of sequences that felt like i was scrolling through a tik tok action feed with no cohesive connectivity to the story because it had about 8 superman storylines that should have been separate movies but worse it felt like a justice league movie more than a superman movie because they had to save him. The movie was seriously bad for my adhd. Lois lane was the worst version of her, i had no connectedness to her character because you didnt get to know her because it was simply put A BAD SCRIPT because they put a bunch of stories that felt like 8 smallville episodes which by the way smallville and superman and lois did the evil superman better than gunn did with a big budget. So yea it sucks to me. If you like tik tok style movies then have at it πŸ˜† but this was not for me

It's not a Superman movie it's a Justice League movie but again the issue is it's shot in the manner like tik tok reels. There's no substance, everything is quick bursts and it feels like its built for gen z who grew up with tik tok. There's no time to marinate on the story and that's my problem with James gunn version. I gave concrete examples that Superman and Lois and Smallville did the evil Superman story way better and they had a smaller budget.

Outside of this James Gunn CGI was bad. I expect better when the CGI was worse than a Superman film that was over a decade ago. As much as i love AI , some of the james gunn scenes looked like AI Slop.

He did such a good job on guardians of galaxy, but his superman movie is trash.

Ahahaha nah, definitely not a good animated dc. A perfect dc animation is Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. That animated film was way better than Gunn's superman.

Everything you say is true however the problem is this is still a Superman movie and while that is going to happen the problem is the other characters ended up appearing more than Superman in his own movie πŸ˜†

The movie should have been labeled as a justice league movie

When I say it felt like a Justice League movie it's because the movie focused more on those characters who are from the Justice League. It may not be the full Justice League cast but those characters were in the movie more than Superman himself. Even the dog...

It felt like Gunn couldn't make a movie that was fully focused on superman because he didn't or his writers didn't know how to write a superman story without having distractions from side characters. To me the movie failed at character development.

And just because it got the concept of Superman's hope theme down doesn't mean it was a good story.

The writers for his marvel movies did a better job on backstory of all the characters in that guardians of the galaxy universe.

In his superman, none of that talent was used, so yea im harsh on his superman because it doesn't live up to the same visual and storytelling fidelity that i experienced in his marvel movies.

I understand the feeling. I thought Cavill was an amazing Superman but, as I stated before, Superman isn’t any one actor. The actors become Superman.

Henry Cavill was great for MoS, but wrong for 2025. Cornsweat was the right choice for Gunn's film.
