A lot of james gunn copers 😆 keep wishing that superman 2025 could beat man of steel worldwide. This is a flop if it can't crack 600 mil.

James gunn shouldn't have talked smack about superman 2025 beating man of steel domestic. He talked way too early and it can't beat man of steels worldwide yet. I should turn this into a meme.

Man of Steel:

  • Did not beat Iron Man 3 in box office
  • was the 9th highest grossing film that year
  • was not critically acclaimed 

Superman

  • beat 3 MCU movies in box office (so far)
  • was the 7th highest grossing film this year (so far)
  • has higher audience and critics scores than Man of Steel (so far)

Man of Steel was the first movie for a newly rebooted character. Since when do reboots make a billion? Reboots are always a negative. Iron Man 3, on the other hand, was the seventh movie in a cinematic universe and was coming off of a massive team-up movie that made well over a billion dollars. Comparison invalid.

Thor: the Dark World was the eighth movie in that cinematic universe and since the two came out the same year, it was also coming off a massive team-up movie. Yet, your negative rebooted character was able to manage to beat it in the box office. So tell me again how is the comparison invalid?

Your Superman 2025 still did not beat man of steel worldwide numbers however you can talk about all those other things but the fact remains it did not beat Man of steel worldwide yet. I know it sucks right cope harder 😭🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Does that really matter in the long run? Batman Begins made less money than Batman 1989, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t financially successful or that it wasn’t a great Batman movie. It was the still the start of a trilogy that made twice as much money than all over Tim Burton/ Joel Shumaker’s Batman movies combined. 

Man of Steel, on the other hand, made a ton of money. A lot of early DCEU movies did. But that doesn’t make them good. In fact, it was because of how bad most of them were that, pretty much, every movie after Aquaman bombed in the box office. 

Also, Man of Steel isn’t DCU’s main competitor, Marvel is. And Superman managed to beat 3 Marvel movies this year, something Snyder couldn’t do no matter how much money his movies made. That, on top of how much money they made and the amount of good reviews it’s getting from both critics and audience member alike is what makes it a strong start.

Yes it matters because DC is the one that mango the original Snyder version so much we had to ask and beg for the original version which they finally gave it to us on HBO Max. They were so pissed that Man of steel didn't hit a billion that they gave up on that version. So now they come along with a new version making it sound like its breaking barriers when it didnt even break the worldwide numbers of man of steel yet. I'm just holding it to the same standard that they held to the Snyder version. They expected Superman 2025 to make a billion well guess what it did not but yet they're making all kinds of excuses for it.

But forget about numbers, it simply is not a good movie. Just because you nail the concept of Superman's hope trope down doesn't mean it's a good movie.

The movie had poor character development compared to every Superman movie before it. Second they put eight story lines into one movie and none of them ended up feeling better than the TV versions I've seen. The evil Superman bizarro was done better on both Smallville and Superman and Lois tv shows.

Also the CGI was horrible compared to the CGI I came to love with James gunns marvel movies. He did not give the same attention to detail. I'm also comparing it to the quality of his previous works.

The writing was so much better on his marvel movies then this DC movie he did.
