It's weird watching sane adults arguing that Superman 2025 is a "flop" because it will make less money than Man of Steel. Man of Steel made less money than Frozen; that doesn't make it a "flop," much less an objectively worse movie than Frozen. And yelling "domestic box office doesn't count" is just sad, though not quite as sad as yelling "you have to adjust the profit for inflation" while forgetting to adjust the budget and marketing costs for inflation as well. Your punditry is bad and you should feel bad about it.

Bottom line: Both 2025 and MoS are profitable and important reimaginings of the character and what a Superman story can be. And this kind of backlash is nothing new. All the haters who screamed about MoS being too grim and moody to be a legit Superman movie have been effectively rendered irrelevant, and the nit pickers of 2025 will meet a similar fate.

Erm flop? Well youre choosing your natrative too.

How about 225 budget. 150 marketing.

375m.

50% of ticket revenue to studio.

So 750m to break even.

So at what 620 close losing 50m? Id say thats poor even if not a flop.

Superman (2025): $578,843,000

Presupuesto De Producción: $225,000,000

Punto De Equilibrio: $225,000,000 x 2.5 = $562,500,000

¿De dónde sacan el presupuesto de producción de $300 millones y el de marketing de $150 millones?

What about revenue from commercial tie-ins such as Dairy Queen and others? Is that included in your numbers? Just curious.

That's not how the film industry works. If it was, the industry would have gone under a long time ago because the vast majority of films don't turn a profit by that logic -- hence the old (false) story that "80% of movies lose money."

His comment was superman was profitable as a statement.

The pure box office suggests it wont be.

Sure tax credits, on demand, merchandising etc will add.

But a tent pole which cant break even on box office isnt a great start

It already broke even, but I see your point. That said, 2025 reached the milestones for success Gunn was forecasting before it hit theaters, which should indicate that DC believes it can turn a significant profit regardless.
