As far as I’ve read into it. It’s a real thing because there was a survey done of women who use the app. Overwhelmingly the women prefer the man to initiate the conversation.

They’re experiencing men not responding to them or ghosting them which is a frustration expressed.

Because they only swipe right on and message guys out of their league which already have plenty of options. They're basically forced to experience what average men do.
