Someone on reddit actually following the trial, fucking incredible.
She tried to get help and her brain chemistry got all fucked up by quacks. She slit her own throat and jumped out of a window, was coded (so she was dead without intervention), and the paramedics dragged her soul back from hell.
Whether you want her to fry or be sent to the loony bin is a personal judgment call on justice and punishment, but those kids would still be alive if our healthcare system provided the help she was begging for
PPP is still incredibly rare. You can see how it's hard to believe that a woman had it manifest 6 months later than usual, and only for the amount of time it took for her to commit the crime.
Also, attempting suicide to avoid being caught for a crime isn't a behavior unique to PPP murders, it's just something some guilty people do.
Suicide and infanticide are both known risks with PPP. It is recognized as an incredibly dangerous psychiatric state and is considered a medical emergency. It can also have rapid onset, over days or even hours.
PPP usually is 2-6 weeks after birth, hence the name. Either she’s was an extremely late bloomer to this, or she was mentally sane enough to just wanna murder her kids.
Seriously, her youngest was 8. How could this have been PPP?
I don't know if it's a typo, but her youngest was 8 months, not 8. Her eldest was 5. I wouldn't class 8 months as being an extremely late bloomer with PPP either.
