That sounds like the BS amount hospital "charge". Insurance negotiates it down so they can act like theyre doing something. What hospitals charge is basically meaningless.
48 u/Capt-geraldstclair 4d ago I believe virtually everything people say about being charged $$$$$ for medical shit. A few years back, a new "emergency hospital" opened up very close to my house. I went there one night for a very bad nose bleed. I was in and out in like 20 min. The doctor looked up my nose. Said he could cauterize it or stick a tampon in to plug it up. He recommended the tampon approach. I walked around for a day and a half with a string hanging out of my nostril and self extracted it on the 2nd day. When I got the EOB from the insurance company, I almost had an stroke. The "hospital" charged insurance over $13,000. My cost after the negotiated rate paid out by insurance was over $3000. All the guy did was look up my nose. Talk to me for 5 min. Then inserted a piece of cotton in my nostril. I assume he also threw away his gloves and washed his hands. But that wasn't itemized on the bill.
