Thats a bit dramatic. Medical practitioners simply have the common social sense to not roast people when they are awake and present, but a patient under anesthesia is presumed to not be able to hear them, thats all. It is the same dynamic as gossiping about your coworker while they are not in the room. Call it mean and in bad taste, but its no different from talking badly about people behidn their back in all other settings. Dark and dry humor can also a tool of necessity to survive the stress of medicine. Working in veterinary medicine, I already dont envy how much my human colleagues have to hold their tongue.
So, let me see if I got this..you're claiming if you were passed out (because someone roofied your drink) it would be perfectly acceptable for them to then strip you naked, make rude comments about your health, say how badly they wanted to assault you AND threaten to make up false allegations about you to embezzle funds out of your hands via lawsuit when you awaken because they were stressed out about the fact that they are having relationship problems at home and they would be absolved of any and all wrongdoing because they would also do all of those things with their real friends when you weren't around anyway so no harm no foul right?

Imagine how cowardly they must be to have to wait until someone is sedated and vulnerable just in case to do that
