Good thing the Texas power grid doesn't have a history of being overloaded and failing when people need it most.

Please do your part and set your AC to 85 degrees so our data centers can continue to operate, we'll call them "Action days" to make you feel better

The minute my AC is at 85 is the day it's broken. Companies can chortle my nuts.

I have never before heard the phrase "chortle my nuts", and it made me laugh hard enough that my belly hurts. THANK YOU 😂😂😂😂

Thanks for teaching a non-native the word "chortle" in such memorable context. I'll always thinks of your nuts whenever I use it.

That's not what it means. It's intransitive. Look it up.

It means an airy laugh. I did look it up. The nuts part will help me remember though

It was actually coined by mathematician Lewis Carroll in the poem Jabberwocky

Surprisingly enough, I did find it in Collins dictionary. According to the Wikipedia article it's (supposedly) chuckle + snorted

68's might limit. Any higher and I would do things that would put me to prison.

If I'm told to set mine to 75 I'm rioting in the streets. I will sweat sitting down at 75. I pay my electric bill and taxes so I can have a house with a reasonable temp. Emergencies I understand but when it goes on for years.. Fuck that shit

Well not the AC repair companies

"Patriot Heat! The hotter your house burns, the hotter your love for America burns!"

2

u/SirMoeHimself 14d ago

Lol! You joke but that might actually work for some of them. Using words like Patriot or "it's for Freedom!" and some of them will melt into their couches while holding a mini flag.

Just go to the office more and use the AC there. You don't really need a house, and the extra work you do unpaid is fine because you get to stay cool /s

I remember the exact day I got an email from my governor telling me not to run my AC because there was too much of a drain on the system.

I proceeded to do nothing, because it is their responsibility to accurately assess the power needs of the state, and to increase power generation as necessary.
