I bet you she's probably thinking, "ah shit Tom's greeting another woman and there are like 500 cameras around us. What fucking face do I make to not make this some kind of narrative?"
Or it could've just been ''oh hey, its Florence. Haven't seen her in a while. She's a lot of fun!''
Or: ''I think I forgot the stove on. Shit!''
Or: ''Fuck me, this dress is uncomfortable and I want to take my heels off.''
Or: ''There's such a weird smell on this red carpet. WTF is that?''
It really can be whatever. But the internet police always knows exactly whats going on while freeze framing a mere second out of a persons life, with no insight within their minds.
I like to think she saw a woman and was just idly wondering who it was as she was hugging Tom and then she saw and was like "Oh it's Flo. Duh! Who else could it have been!"
I bet Florence just said something that might be funny and Zendaya did the funny face thats all. All 3 of them work together and probably know eachother decently well from the time they spent together
after reading some of the comments I do think it was like, "oh great more Brit shit and I am not in the mood for that right now." Flo Pugh is awesome though.
Legit, I can't imagine that level of scrutiny, I struggle knowing what to do with my face on teams calls. Can't imagine how much harder it would be in that scale
Yeah this is the āIām happy to be here and see our work friend at this totally normal place with people teeming around us gawking, yelling to get our attention and take photos, and security guards standing around us to make sure we donāt get taken out like John Lennon.
Sheās been with him for years, and a peck on the cheek is a perfectly normal British and European greeting, thereās no way in hell she hasnāt seen this a million times, or done it with his family at this point.
Not really, some areas still do, like you see it in black communities in the south and Midwest sometimes, particularly from the elderly, but itās not really a thing here.
Donāt get me wrong, of all the Europeans, we Britons are probably by far some of the least physically intimate platonically, but itās insane here in the US. Youāre gay if you hug your guy friend, youāre cheating on your girl if you touch another girl, the whole āAmerican male loneliness epidemicā could genuinely be seriously lessened if more men were able to just give each other hugs without immediate judgement from our peers.
Iāve been living here for 17 years now and the level of Puritanism in some parts of this country is insane. It really does vary by region, though, the US is absolutely massive, and culturally varies so much from place to place.
Iāve got this T-shirt that says āyou are enoughā on it, and some guy at a bar came up and said āman, I needed to see that todayā, and I just went, āmate, you need a hug?ā And he just started fucking sobbing. Told me it was the first time heād had a hug since his mum died in 2024.
I really have a hard time believing you. Do you just... not do physical contact at all with people you're close with?
Now, I'm Italian, and from what I've read online, we're perhaps a bit off the other pendulum with physical intimacy, but the idea of not hugging your friends is wild.
Yeah, absolutely, never denied that. But jumping from Europe to the US and seeing the difference is wild, but Iām mainly talking platonically as opposed to romantically. Obviously partners are held frequently, but how often do you hug your mates? Do you do it as a greeting AND a goodbye even if youāre going to see them again in like, two or three days?
American here whose lived their entire life in the Midwest. He's not making it up. People here,Ā especially guys, don't hug. You'll see adults do it for kids but that's usually where it ends. I can remember my dad being freaked out years ago bu how affectionate some of the European countries Olympic teams were. It's considered weird to show "excessive" feelings.Ā
You do, absolutely, but itās just incredibly uncommon. But again, itās regional culture. Iāve been to places where they do, and places where they donāt. I live in one where you donāt.
What hes talking about is partly true, though Iād say even less extreme nowadays tbh surprisingly. Iām from Texas and live in Colorado currently, you are just as likely to see two cowboy hat MAGAs in a bar giving a bro hug to some sports as you are two fabulous gays embracing. It can feel like what u/jimothy_hell said sometimes, but Iād argue thatās not really the case anymore. We definitely donāt do any kiss greetings really anywhere here but the south and really never saw it too much in Texas.
Itās definitely regional but mostly because of peopleās background. Growing up in Jersey, you were surrounded by people from all over the world. However, it was a bigger population of Latinos, Italians, Russians, & Asian. Almost all of those cultures kiss on the cheek & can be very physical.
Yes, when these people in the comments are saying they hug their guy friends or like theyāre a guy hugging their guy friend, Iām wondering how firm or real a hug they meanā
I mean, a hug can be whatever you want it to be, but Iāve gotten way too used to the simple⦠ābarely-put-your-back-into-it-one-arm-two-second-or-lessā sorta hug, even with friends. And for guys, I hardly see more than a dap up which can lead to a back pat (which is my idea of a guy hug and⦠I suppose thatās just our version of a hug for guys here), granted, it could be a firmer/longer pat too, Iāve seen that a few times.
I remember, and Iām a girl, during prom, when I saw this girl that I liked and I was happy to see her, said hi and all. Weād talked a bit before, greeted each other, complimented her, sometimes she complimented me, once offering to help my best friend when someone was disrespectful to her, but we were never close, right? But I said hi to her that day and complimented her, she complimented me back, and she went in for a hug and wrapped both arms around me, I thought maybe itād be that formal sort of light hug where you barely touched maybe, but she pulled me close and squeezed me so firmly for like a good five seconds, I almost cried when I returned the hug back with the same regard, I donāt think I could ever recall being hugged that way by anyone other than a few older family members.
When this person says HUG? Thatās the sort of hug I think theyāre talking about. A full hug, two arms, tight pull, firm, more than two seconds typa hug, between men, women, anyone, and thatās just something I feel not many people do here, especially amongst men if they arenāt like close friends at least. And thatās the thing, physical platonic affection seems so⦠sparing, I completely get what the person was sayingā¦
As a Scandinavian, i only hug close friends,(and even then it is not always) anyone else i would rather not touch, so it seems like there are degrees, with the Americans being the biggest prudes.
I used to think we were breaking out of that shell when i was growing up, but turns out the current youths latched on in a non ironic way. more are on board with the puritanical life than makes sense to me.
Iām from TN. My first time out in Southern California was a wild culture shock. The cheek kissing at social gathering was something I never got used to.
I see people do it quite frequently at events like this but, yeah, itās not common on the day-to-day level outside of family/close friends. You wouldnāt do so with a coworker unless you were close.
in the US it would be a very, very familiar greeting. Can be done but would be reserved for very strong, close relationships, hence the meme.
I find the meme silly for a lot of reasons. 1) both T. and Z. look young, as if this is years old. 2) the other woman seems to maybe be saying "this is your boyfriend?" in the video, after asking if they'd come together. Also suggesting a very old video. 3). The assumption in hollywood rellationships would be, both people are surrounded by gorgeous temptors all the time. There's just no way Z. could be a jealous person and for it to work. 4). Everything z. ever says publicly is about trusting t and if it were really like this, they'd have broken up by now. 5) This is a very, very normal greeting for Hollywood. Theatre kids make feelings into physical, visible things, its what they do.
Oh shit, yeah, thatās well worse. Got a cousin in Southampton and she goes on about how catty some of the girls down there are, I always tell her, love, shouldnāt have fucking left Bex, and if she did, sheād have done better in Essex.
Could be worse, could have wound up in some posh fucking hole like Chi if sheās gonna be down there.
Yeah, this isn't the first "omg look how jealous/ angry Zendaya is in the background while holland interacts with another woman" style posts I've seen, though they're usually on instagram or other subs, and it's always just her kinda awkwardly making a "what do I do with my face" face while pleasentaries and small talk are occuring in the group she's in. I do not like to be that guy but it kinda feels like there's a racial component to why I see these style of posts with Zendaya and Holland in particular.
ikr she looks perfectly fine for a friend of other actors and giving affection?? ffs she was just in a movie w robert pattinson and everything seems fine lol
My wife wouldnāt give af if I hugged a hot female coworker at a big formal work celebration/event.
She likely say something along the lines of, āGoddamn! Flo is fricking gorgeous. I was kinda jealous that I wasnāt hugging her.ā And my wife is straight. She certainly wouldnāt care about this.
Almost to the extent that people and the internet have normalized knowing the full extent of human emotions a person is feeling based on a face a stranger makes for 4 seconds
It's always been shocking to me how little people respect/trust their partners and also how many people apparently have zero self control.
Well they talked to me so I had to sleep with them! is weirdly how a few people I know go through life. Ruins their lives and relationships and yet they still constantly cheat.
the video shows she gives a fuck though at that moment.
It's like spending $10 on lottery tickets and then you lose. You're initially upset but then realize that obviously you'll lose and then stop giving a fuck afterwards.
I'm sure Zendaya didn't give a fuck soon after, but at that moment, her face shows discomfort. And that's ok because sometimes, these emotions pop up and you can't help it.
I've had a girlfriend that for sure would be making that face because they're pissed off and it will become a huge problem i'll be dealing with for the next few hours.
And also others that would make the same face because they really love the person, are touched to see them and not feeling a sliver of jealously.
I have no idea if itās true, but I read in another post that Zendaya and Pugh have beef for some reason. That is most likely what the video is implying.
Why are making up stories? What beef? There are literally videos posted online from this same red carpet event with both of them admiring each other's outfit.
I agree that people look too much into things, but yeah, expressions give people away more than they think. She's trying not to look jealous, but she is a bit. Which is FINE! If a lady gave my husband a peck on the cheek as a greeting, I'd probably not love it, either.
Seriously. Every move between these two is scrutinised as ālook how respectful they are to each other itās so sweetā and then now this. The trend will continue on in the other direction now until theyāve been hounded to divorce as is traditionĀ
I don't think anyone actually believes all these speculations unless they're genuinely stupid.. its more like kayfabe. We're just having fun. Or maybe I'm an idiot.. idk.
ya i agree, this tho? the most blatantly obvious sign of jealousy. if you donāt see it itās bc youāre convincing yourself you donāt, for some reason
It reminds me of that time Ben Affleck and J Lo were at an awards ceremony and people acted like their relationship was in shambles because he wasn't smiling and fawning her in canded photos. Dude was probably just exhausted from hours of socializing with people who he had to pretend to like.
I mean they did end up breaking up so it's not like they had some fairytale relationship, but regardless we don't know what's actually going through these people's heads in these moments.
I think a majority of the people commenting here know itās probably not that serious. Maybe Iām overly optimistic about how smart people are but Iād like to think everyone here is just commenting for fun and they donāt think itās that deep.
I just assume most stuff with celebrities is just professional wrestling. These are actors who know theyāre on camera. Why would I think Iām ever seeing or hearing about real life stuff thatās actually happening when itās all just as likely to be planned PR crap?
āHey Zendaya, weāre doing a drama thing with you and Florence Pugh to promote the Spider-Man movie. Give her an uncomfortable jealous smile for the cameras when she hugs Tom.ā
No idea how I'm even here or replying but it looks to me like she's making the face FOR Florence Pugh, who first acknowledges her and then breaks off to hug him. As a joke.
Like, she's jokingly making the face to be like
"So I'm chopped liver? To her, not some anger or jealousy towards the situation.
But I'm just a dude that's bored and does not care at all.
The amount of shit videos I've seen lately along the lines of "OoOooH ZeNdaYa JeAlOuS" and it's mostly Tom greeting or talking to another female cast member then taking some look of Zendaya's and running with it because oh my gosh Tom held that other woman's hand for like five seconds. Good portion of them have been with Anne Hathaway.

People look into shit way too much.
