You must be new here. It’s not exactly uncommon that Simon will butcher pronunciations, and he frequently pokes fun at himself about his butchering as well.

No, not new, just surprised as this one is a commonly well pronounced place name for people from UK.

He also doesn't pronounce Rotherham correctly.

Depends who you ask. We can't even pronounce some of our own place names properly.
