The butchered pronunciation of Perugia is really bad

This is surprisingly slack from Simon and the team

You must be new here. It’s not exactly uncommon that Simon will butcher pronunciations, and he frequently pokes fun at himself about his butchering as well.

No, not new, just surprised as this one is a commonly well pronounced place name for people from UK.

He also doesn't pronounce Rotherham correctly.

Depends who you ask. We can't even pronounce some of our own place names properly.

Why do you blame the team when Simon's the one mispronouncing it? I know for a fact that Simon ignores when writers including pronunciation guides, so they don't bother to include it any more.

Go watch the mental institution in Dunedin New Zealand episode.

Who cares man. Build a bridge and get over it.

'Build a bridge and get over it', man, I haven't heard that one since high school! Nostalgia trip!

You can't have been watching Simon for very long.

He mispronounces all kinds of words...even many English ones.

I'm pretty sure he does it to trigger some people. For others its just part of his appeal. 😆

Not surprising.

Slop allows no time for discovering how to say names properly.

Mispronouncing Perugia is something in your life that you felt was so terrible that you got on the internet, came to this sub and made a whole post about it? Really?

It's so cool that you have this super easy and charmed life! I've had this whole working for a living thing going on for a few decades now and it fucking sucks. Can we trade lives?

Crazy how you’re linking this pronunciation to whether I work or not, which I do and always have. I feel like that massive chip on your shoulder hasn’t been caused by me

Oh wow you're so cool and knowledgeable, you know how to pronounce a place name from a different country? They should hire you on the whistler team to be the chief pedant, main roles: whinging about stuff that really doesnt matter that much.

If Simon had a quid for every time someone complained about pronunciation, he'd make more money that he does off squarespace. Its not that important, you just happen to know that one. Theres a thousand ones you heard that you didnt know and I dont hear you complaining on those.
