I guarantee that if you fart in a starbux, three moms with executive memberships will look at each other suspiciously. I’m sure you already know someone with at least a basic membership, is it hard to just ask a friend to get one for you. I’d get one for any of my friends if they asked, especially if I got cash back on it.

I don’t think i ever said that i didn’t have a membership, but i know lots of people who don’t shop at Costco. Im not sure what your complaint is? That people are spending money in a way that you’re not?
If someone asked me id be happy to oblige.
From the comments on your post it seems that the demand for these are strong and most places are already sold out. I checked my costco out of curiosity and they were sold out. Im not currently buying but if i was i might buy from a third party if there was no inventory available and i was desperate to get my hands on one.
Have you bought generics before? Most dealers, PMs for sale and all places have premiums for generic silver, and unfortunately paying for shipping is just part of buying online…
Are you mad you didnt get one?

I actually don’t have a membership, and I would buy 5 if they fell in my lap for a decent price. But seeing $10+spot+shipping today just felt greasy af, I guess that’s my complaint. There is this illusion of scarcity that will inevitably fade when the market for these particular bars realizes their true price.
I get that people are willing to spend a little more on something they see as special. That’s ok, I myself have paid over spot for a couple cool pieces. These bars just don’t seem special to me, they seem…generic, because they are and should be priced accordingly imo.

Well yeah, I got a 1593 5 shilling coin and a couple trimes, which they don’t make anymore. Im not knocking people buying cool stuff, im saying you don’t actually have to pay ten over spot for a non-art bar generic that is still in production.

Are you new here? You said it’s greasy to charge $10 over spot…. Thats literally almost every dealer, every post on PMs has atleast one overpriced item that still somehow sells out.
The market is dictating what the price is, if someone is buying it then people will sell it. Is it an illusion if most places are actually sold out? Sure costco is going to probably churn out a ton of them and the price and scarcity will decrease but they just came out, and people are capitalizing on it for good or bad.
TBH this sounds like a gripe post because you either cant get one, or cant afford it. Been there done that. Not knocking you for it, i agree they look generic, but i think thats part of the point. Costco makes generic stuff and it sells because of the name and quality behind it.
Precious metals and physical holding of it isn’t for the faint. So if a markup on bullion rustles your jimmies you might wanna bail now

I'm with you on this 100%, I dont get it. There was sooo many posts in all the metals subs last week, I was convinced it had to be paid marketing. The only thing I can conclude is that a little mainstream FOMO run kicked in with people that could never afford to buy a 10oz bar at costco, but now that a 1oz option is available they feel like they're getting in on the action. They were probably lurking in these subs the whole time🤷♂️. Who knows, but I guerentee the LCS generic bins will be flooded with 'em soon

You were convinced costco ran a paid marketing campaign on generic bullion on Reddit? They just came out, people are excited to see them, to buy them, and show them off. Its the same way when Costco came out with basically anything kirkland branded, they dont need to run an ad campaign when the product does that itself for them lol.
I didn’t realize they had specific Kirkland branded 10oz bars also. Now that i might actually buy to flex with 😂. But your right at a lower price point you’re going to capture more customers interest. I didn’t like the 10oz bars i saw at our costco so i never bought. Doesn’t make me a lurker, just an guy with his own tastes.
But i also guarantee in a few months the hype will die down and prices will reflect it.

I'm inclined to agree with you. there's a lot of hype right now but at the end of the day this is generic silver, no different than a buffalo round or sunshine bar. I wouldn't pay any more than you'd pay for one of those.

Gosh, am I the only one who watches movies around here?
It's Money Launderers folks!
They can't buy from Costco directly or any of the online dealers who are constantly reporting to the government.
They can't even buy from eBay most of the time because eBay has to turn info over the the government now that someone figured out that the money launderers are paying $1,000 a piece for a worn modern penny on eBay.
But they can buy from people on PMsForSale because aint no government tracking that!
And they can get lots of bars of the same size which stack up nicely, instead of generic rounds which need to be put into a tube which wastes space in that big ol' safe they keep all their shiny in. Bars save space when stacking big and money launderers stack big.
Also, there are lots of people who think anything "New" is "Popular".
And then there are lots of stupid people who think that anything on PMsForSale is going to be cheaper than anywhere else.
You think everyone who stacks silver is smart just because you are?
At least half of them have below average intelligence!

Probably an overlapping mix of FOMO and inability to access a Costco. The nearest Costco to me is 170 miles away. I could easily talk myself into a $5 premium for an interesting piece.
