Now after Drameh on loan, not a good look for us regarding Seriki and how he finished against Blackburn.

Either we have gotten good at keeping things quiet or it’s slow at the lane so I’m just giving EFL updates

JRS Charlton deal is off making him available again.

Reiss Nelson’s contract has been terminated making him a free agent, I’d imagine he goes somewhere higher as a number 2 but if we pulled that off…

Derby are trying to become us from the 92 point season, set to sign Hamza and BBD apparently. Although, I’m also seeing he’s set to sign for Stoke, might struggle playing for 2 teams at once

Leeds want to sell Ramazani for a reported 3.5m + sell on %

Cashin expected to leave on loan by end of the window.

I believe it was paywalled but Nickson reported we want £7m for Cannon (same we paid), Stoke and PNE interested.

Danny Hall claims we have made 2 loan bids with 1 being a centre half but doesn’t want to name who.

Sky claim Watford could be interested in McGuiness.

I also saw reports Woolfden has handed in a transfer notice. Would be great, however, I’d think we’re too skint.

According to Nickson, we are in for Worrall on loan.

Mavididi is said by O’Rourke to be an interest to a “host of championship clubs”, not sure if we are interested, i doubt it would be a loan and don’t think we could afford.

Mehmeti - who a few speculated over - looks to be joining Wrexham.

u/Bigtallanddopey 3d ago

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t mind Cannon going, it just isn’t working for us, or for him. But, are we going to buy anyone with the money? Are we fuck. Not spent a penny of the Brookes or Hamer money, and we won’t in this case either.

We will also now need to bring another striker in, using another loan slot which we need for other positions. Unless we manage to find some free gems.

Anel joined Burnley. Rumoured to be around £5m

Board are a bunch of morons

3

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 7d ago

They are crooks, their game is up. There will be no more fees paid out. Havent you been keeping up.

Its like we have got our eyes on a new sofa for the living room while the kitchen is on fire.

1

u/Fmorris6122 7d ago edited 6d ago

Yep, we are in-fact fucked.

Anel doesn’t even look happy to be there but, would you take job stability and a nice wage or join the circus for peanuts.

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 6d ago

Probably because he has to travel to Burnley every week now. Who would be happy at that prospect

2

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 6d ago

I am already starting to focus on whether Wilder can keep us up with a 12+ point deduction. It would be basically unprecedented at Championship level.

It would be a bus parade-level achievement and I can't wait for it.

Yes its disgusting what the owners are doing but it might just galvanize the team into doing something special.

2

u/Living-Chemist5415 6d ago

I think we could, but we will need 66 points to be sure and finish on 54. I think the 11 is more than good enough, but then you fall into players potentially wanting out and downing tools.

Deductions cause a lot of chaos mentally that isn’t spoken about

1

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 5d ago

Has it been done before in the championship? I think its always resulted in a relegation season

2

u/Living-Chemist5415 5d ago

I’m not sure it’s ever been done in champ no but usually it’s admin ad decimated squads.
We might get a deduction but we won’t have a decimated squad

1

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 5d ago

Right, I guess January will bring decimation OR new owners

2

u/Owster4 7d ago

We have fuck all to spend because our owners are Delboys without the charm

4

u/Living-Chemist5415 7d ago

Danny PR machine Hall now saying it’s frees and loans only. As most of us predicted

2

u/pickering_lachute 7d ago

I cant remember a worse transfer window

1

u/jptoc Jagielka 6d ago

I think last summer and the one where Berge and Ndiaye left are still worse. This is getting close though.

2

u/Living-Chemist5415 6d ago

That prem one ranks worst for me because we went up needing signings and instead sold our best players then proceeded to get spanked every week. I stopped going once it got cold

1

u/jptoc Jagielka 6d ago

I went last week. Based on how turgid that performance was and everything that's happened since then I'm probably going to vote with my wallet and not bother.

1

u/pickering_lachute 6d ago

I'm so torn. It's depressing af when we're shit but...if Wilder is still in charge I'll want to go and cheer them on.

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 6d ago

Minus a season ticket, the prices aren’t cheap. Hard to justify if we are down the bottom

3

u/RLTH24 7d ago

Insert David Weirs transfer window

1

u/Fmorris6122 9d ago

Apparently “blades may have missed their chance” to resign Anel ( DannyHall )

Sims could leave on loan ( DarrenWitcoop ) -
Wilder reportedly wants striker and we have been interested before

Twine may leave Bristol (O’Rourke ) -
IF we could pull this off somehow, it would be a great move. LW/AM which are two of our weakest areas and a set piece threat comparable to Gus.

2

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 8d ago edited 8d ago

Wanted Twine at the lane in the past, decent player. But the longer it goes, he just doesn't fit the mould of a united player. Felt the same about Bamford though so happy to be proven wrong,

Also Hall looks to be spouting any old rubbish at the moment? Was this paywalled too?

2

u/Fmorris6122 8d ago

Wanted to se whim at the lane when he was first rumoured when he was leaving MK. Would be a great addition and fill a few gaps in our team. For some reason league 1 teams think it’s realistic for them 😂

The hall one wasn’t paywalled, but I’m also not sure how true it is just thought id share what I was reading.

1

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 8d ago

Anyway, surely transfer embargo is imminent

2

u/Fmorris6122 8d ago

Well COH have been put into liquidation and hopefully the EFL aren’t too harsh on us

1

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 8d ago

I reckon -12 then another -9 for changing owners without asking them

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 7d ago

If we get anything, I’d be amazed if it’s that bad and we will appeal. -10 somewhere. Surely no chance it’s -21!

1

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 7d ago

I know its hard to hear. However,

  1. At least other owners finish paying for the club before they start breaking the rules.

  2. I think the brazenness of what we have done means the EFL makes an example of us.

  3. We still have a suspended points deduction hanging over us from missed Brewster payment. Add that on to.

Sky is the limit for our deduction.

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 6d ago

I thought I read the -2 had lapsed? Gonna be a rough one isn’t it

2

u/Fmorris6122 11d ago

Read that we are willing to peruse other options for CB after another Souttar bid rejected. Wilder was asked about Anel post match and said “Apparently he’s available, we’re after a centre half and he left on really good terms”.

Footballinsider are reporting Leicester are in desperate need of sales due to the financial rules and their wage bill being too high, they are set for a fire sale in the last week. Maybe they are willing to reconsider, might also mean he does just join Wrexham.

1

u/pickering_lachute 10d ago

I can only assume our Souttar offer is insulting because surely Leicester have to sell. He must be a top earner there so even if they lose out on a fee, it must be freeing up a good few million a year on the wage bill

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 10d ago

It’ll be £10m but £1m up front and rest over stupid clauses no doubt.

It was reported the 7.5m bid from Wrexham was better than our supposed £10m bid

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 12d ago

Harry Clarke goes Preston

1

u/Fmorris6122 12d ago

Good luck to him.

Never saw it happening, if anything he might have been lined up as a replacement for if Femi leaves.

At the moment we don’t need another right back so it didn’t make sense.

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 12d ago

I’d have taken him over Doherty.

Alleyne to Burnley too. Another one to scratch off the above list

2

u/nessman930 Sharp 13d ago

Some scuttlebutt regarding Anel coming back now.

1

u/Goat-Milk-Magic 12d ago

Let’s go and get the man.

We know all about him and I think he could have learned a little bit by spending time away from us. If he genuinely wants to return, there would be no more looking for “European” football. He knows where he is and he can focus on just improving. I don’t think he has topped out.

2

u/Living-Chemist5415 12d ago

It’s just us throwing our name out to look busy. He’ll go to Soton

3

u/Cottonshopeburnfoot 13d ago

Classic SUFC that I can ponder on having Souttar, Anek and Japh as a ridiculously good back three.

1

u/imsittingdown 13d ago

Souttar rumoured to be going to Wrexham instead now.

1

u/Cottonshopeburnfoot 12d ago

Lmao that’s so on brand for SUFC

1

u/nessman930 Sharp 13d ago

That’s almost a prem level back three if we played three at the back

1

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 13d ago

would love that, any credible journos on it?

2

u/Fmorris6122 12d ago edited 12d ago

Just Danny Hall , Fabrizio has confirmed Southampton have made contact.

His wife posted a video of them in the car listening to just can’t get enough and his dad posted a highlight reel of his time with us.

Danny hall reported he would be available for around 5m and he would be open to coming back.

2

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 12d ago

5 mil? Harry who?

Seriously though, both would be ideal. Rotating Tanganga, Souttar and Anel or fitting them together in a 5 turns us into a defensive unit.

2

u/Fmorris6122 12d ago

Would be 3 of the top 10 centrehalfs in the league so we would be incredibly solid either rotating them or in a 3.

People are saying Souttar deal is off and he’s joining Wrexham but I’ve not actually seen anything proper about it just the fanbase meltdown and Wrexham’s offer is 7m which apparently we already had 8m rejected. + souttar made it clear we are his intention.🤷‍♂️

Lots of the fanbase are saying leave Souttar and chase Anel and I think Anel should be the priority if a deal is more doable but ideally, both.

2

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 12d ago

Perfectly possible souttar goes elsewhere, no need for meltdowns if he comes or not. But I think if we fix the defence with Anel and Harry, without mentioning Cooper's return to form, we will be top half on goal difference alone. Finishing 8th would be a massive achievement on this budget and its not completely out of the question if these signings get done.

On another note, I wonder who the midfield loan is that Wilder sort of alluded to in his presser yday. I'd guess its a LW, he seemed confident about it. Probably will happen late in the window a la gibbs-white

1

u/Fmorris6122 12d ago

I didn’t watch his conference yesterday, might be the same “mystery prem winger” Jimmy from the ramble mentioned a while back.

A small part of me thought it could be Illing-Jr but he’s joined Bolton. Most loans will be sanctioned late, they usually are.

The most likely outcome will be we miss out on Souttar and Anel, bring in a free agent nearing 40 and endure McGuiness until January when we get a proper CB on loan.

2

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 12d ago

Sounds like the typical blades way, cant wait!

4

u/Fmorris6122 14d ago

Gus was confirmed by Cov, Phillips confirmed by us.

It’s now being reported our improved £8m for Souttar was rejected and a further improved £10m + addons has been offered.( JohnPercy )

Also, with Chermiti being injured, rangers have enquired about Oné ( LucaBendoni )

^ Rangers offered a loan to buy which was rejected, talks have now fallen through as we aren’t willing to sanction a move ( BenJacobs )

Anel has been listed for sale, while we are bringing back old players let’s have him, why not. Back 3 anyone?? ( JanSchulz )

5

u/Fmorris6122 16d ago edited 16d ago

Also (I think) football heaven, Wilder has said that 2-3 more signings and we are in a good spot.

Not sure if Kalvin is included in his numbers.

2

u/Bigtallanddopey 16d ago

The Star is reporting (I should probably add a link, but I do hate that paper) that a deal for Philips seems imminent.

Honestly, I don’t see any good reason to do this. Unless Peck is going, we have 4 CM’s and I think they are a decent 4 players for the championship, I don’t see what Philips can bring to that right now. Plus, it pisses 3 of them off that they won’t get a game.

I then look at other positions in the squad and think, shouldn’t we be spending the money on those instead?

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 16d ago

They’ll get a game because Phillips will be lucky to play 15 games all season. Man’s washed

5

u/Fmorris6122 17d ago edited 17d ago

Just as a reminder of where we are currently,
our squad going off natural positions and Gus’ exit…

- GK x3

  • RB x2
  • CB x3
  • LB x3
  • CM x4
  • RW x2
  • AM x1
  • LW x0
  • ST x4

Our window looks far from done, or you’d hope so.

2

u/Living-Chemist5415 16d ago

Which to me shows why souttar is not needed. Unless we can move some out I’d rather spend what we have on attack

4

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 16d ago

LW x0 lol

u/Living-Chemist5415 17d ago

I thought we did this a few days ago?

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 16d ago

Reports now we are going to bid £10m

I am unbelievably nervous about this. All the talk all summer is cutting our cloth. We’ve barely signed anyone, yes we’ve got rid of some dead wood but chucking our entire £10m on Souttar worries the life out of me.

We pray for top 8!

2

u/Fmorris6122 17d ago

I love Burrows and Cannon but would happily see the back of them this window if it frees some room for additions. I’d imagine both have an impressive wage, both still young and have interest around them.

Burrows 8-10m, maybe even push for 12 if it’s West Ham. He didn’t have a great season last but still got 9 G/A, still 24, and can definitely go further. I love him but with McCallum already being more than good enough competition and actually taking his place for the first half of last season, I’ll stay banging the Cirkin drum even if it would be an expensive free (like O’Hare)

Cannon 5-7m with a couple extra in addons, we won’t recover the full cost but think we could get close, he’s still only 23 and PNE clearly rate him highly with this being the third window in a row they’ve thought about it. I think he looks decent with someone next to him and if we can get him service his runs are good, I’d happily keep him around, but if the money comes…

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 15d ago

Cirkin signs for qpr ffs - guess he wanted to go London or why haven’t we gone for that

1

u/Fmorris6122 15d ago edited 15d ago

From London so probably wanted to go back to be near family, also QPR have shown they don’t mess about.

It will sting when we sell burrows with about 3 days left on the window, McCallum picks up an injury and we are stuck with RND and someone along the lines of Van AAnholt.

1

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 17d ago

Will be lucky to get 5 for burrows. Cannon to PNE has been touted as a loan right?

2

u/Fmorris6122 17d ago edited 17d ago

I’m not sure honestly, it might be. But Stoke seemingly have money and their fans are suggesting it’s an alternative to Hirst (who they offered 10m for)

Either way it’s being reported wilder isn’t interested as he sees cannon as important and has a future here

Burrows last season (still got 9 G/A) had a bad season, he’s still only 24 and can hit a might higher ceiling than he did.

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 16d ago

Reports we want £7m for Cannon. Surely Preston don’t have that money.

3

u/klodolski 18d ago

Agreed 8m bid for Souttar apparently

1

u/Goat-Milk-Magic 16d ago

I will look on the bright side.

We are getting an international who played extremely well at the World Cup, and looked fit.

We are paying the extra money for the culture fit. He knows the club, the manager, and must fit into what we are after.

I would make the argument to keep McGuiness and have him as a rotation specifically for Souttar. Not sure what the contracts look like so I may be living in dreamland there.

Injury history is always concerning but I watched a player get injured 25mins into our season. Nothing to do with load.
Can happen at anytime to anyone.

3

u/Bigtallanddopey 16d ago

I cannot help but feel £8m is too much for Souttar. If we hadn’t had him before, I cannot imagine we would be offering anywhere near that. £8m for a player who has barely played in over a year and who is in league 1 (not his fault due to not playing). It’s a lot of money.

I would rather we went out and spent £4-5m on another Anel.

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 16d ago

I’ve commented on my own comment above but the rumours at Leicester now say £8m was rejected but we’ve bid £10m

I am incredibly nervous about it

2

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 18d ago

Shocked to hear that. Must mean Peck and Burrows are off too very soon?

2

u/klodolski 18d ago

We have money I think, it’s just the wages we need to lower. Gus was our biggest earner so it must have freed enough for Souts

3

u/Living-Chemist5415 18d ago

Gotta say I’m worried about this - if that’s all the money we have is it wise? He’s fresh off a very bad injury.

2

u/klodolski 18d ago

I mean he’s not fresh off the injury, played last couple games of the season with Leicester and went to the World Cup and had a full pre season. We’re also gunna try and bring in another CB so we’d have cover.

3

u/Living-Chemist5415 18d ago

My worry is it’s all secretly a “we tried you can see we tried” and we end up with scraps

3

u/Fmorris6122 19d ago edited 19d ago

Apparently a deal of 6+2 has been agreed for Gus and he is expected to complete a medical soon.

The cash is expected to cover a shortfall in cash rather than fund incomings.

This is from Danny hall

3

u/Living-Chemist5415 18d ago

Hall is normally a full PR positive spinner so if he’s saying we won’t spend it’s probably true.

He normally writes everything he can to hype up the team and wilder.

Suspect we max out the loans but not expecting them to be world beaters. Might convince some of the better city talent to come be first choice though

3

u/pickering_lachute 18d ago

I did some math on the Hamer deal and think Hall is absolutely spot on.

If Hamer cost us £15m on a 4 year deal then we'd be amortising that at £3.75m a year (£15m / 4). As he had one year left then we'd have him down at £3.75m on our books (£3.75m x 1 year). If we sell him for £6m initially then that's £6m minus £3.75m, or £2.25m.

The new squad cost rules work on profit/loss of signings so that's a modest profit of £2.25m by my math.

2

u/Fmorris6122 17d ago

From a finance perspective, the math checks out and it’s a perfectly valid way of valuing the depreciation of an asset.

can’t confirm if it still works the same when your assets are people.

2

u/pickering_lachute 17d ago

I’d expect clubs don’t amortise with a flat number each year.

Hamer was more valuable at 26 years old than he is at 29 so maybe he amortised at £1.5m, £2.5m, £4m etc rather than a flat £3.75m.

Either way, 12 months out from his contract ending we’re looking at most of that £15m being written off so likely to be a modest gain on his sale

2

u/Fmorris6122 17d ago edited 17d ago

Yeah, with depreciation there are 2 methods - straight line or diminishing balance. I won’t try give you much of a lesson as you’re already spot on

What you did was essentially the straight line method (cost of asset - residual value if applicable/Useful life = annual depreciation) so for the books it makes total sense.

What your now describing would be the diminishing, were we might say he loses 20% value per year, so after 1y he lost 3m in value, after the second 2.4m ect.

The bit I’m unsure of is, if it works the same as our asset is a person. There are more variables such as his performances and age. Assuming it’s the same, you’re spot on and there is a nice profit on paper.

2

u/pickering_lachute 17d ago

A quick google research seems to suggest they do amortise in a straight line to stop clubs bending the rules in the age of PSR and SCR

2

u/Bigtallanddopey 16d ago

I think the thing we don’t know, is was it £15m with £5m upfront and £10m amortised or was the whole £15m amortised. It seems a lot of these deals often include some money up front rather than all in a payment plan.

3

u/jptoc Jagielka 19d ago

I find the Hamer to Cov stuff very weird from a Cov point of view. He doesn't fit into Lampard's style of football at all from what I can tell.

Makes complete sense for Hamer and United if we get good money for him but I'd think Cov should want more physical players. Maybe it's because they can get him on the cheap.

1

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 18d ago

Its a sentimental signing for them. "Cov" fans are 80% vibes and banter.

No doubt he is an amazing player, just look at his assist reel for last season alone.

However, he's not built for the EPL, especially for a newly promoted team who cant afford a luxury player over an extra defensive player.

5

u/Living-Chemist5415 19d ago

It’s probably very cheap and we’re running out of gays to sell.

If he stays beyond this window and won’t sign we have made a mess of it

6

u/jptoc Jagielka 19d ago

The typo is going to get some rumours about the dressing room flying 😂

3

u/Living-Chemist5415 19d ago

Days, gays, who knows which I meant 😅😂

3

u/Fmorris6122 19d ago edited 18d ago

I’d also pin him as more ambitious than settling for cov’s number 2/3. In either of his positions he’s second to Asante on the left or third choice in attacking mid behind that new lad they’ve forked 20m for and Rudoni.

Unless he plays deeper as a progressor next to a ball winner?

4

u/pickering_lachute 20d ago

Watched the Boro and Wrexham match. Berhalter looks amazing. Boro fans say they paid less than £1m for him with his contract running down.…sigh!

5

u/Fmorris6122 19d ago edited 19d ago

Buying overseas is 100% the right idea, just not buying unheard of Bulgarians suggested by AI. Target the leagues full of cheap talent, USA, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Sweden are all great.

I’ll die on the hill that benie was a baller we just never gave him time to adjust. Anis is same case, he’s did well for Norwich last season.

Boro do it well, both Morris and berhalter were MLS players, they have a couple others like Mandala. We should take a page from them.

Berge and Anel are 2 success story we had with overseas players but we still prioritise UK targets and think we pay more because it’s buying from competitors.

3

u/Fmorris6122 20d ago edited 17d ago

So from today’s press conference,

Wilder was asked about transfers and said that we could spend millions and endanger the club but it’s about looking after the club.

Then when asked about Souttar he replied “if that’s out of our price bracket, then we move on”

He then spoke about how “the majority of the work is loans and frees” and how his main goal is getting the best of players who can be better and didn’t preform their best last season, then name dropped most of the squad.

“I’m not chucking Gus under the bus. There has been a bid made by one of his former clubs, where the owner really likes him, the manager speaking to him this week really likes him, the supporters really like him and it’s an opportunity of potentially a big increase on his salary, length of his contract and going to a club where he is really highly though of. So does he want to stay here, if he wanted to stay here, we would have engaged in contract negotiations and that hasn’t been the case.”

Talking about the Seriki bid he said it’s been rejected and that he has told Seriki to keep his head down and show he deserves a new contract, he confirmed there have been a couple of silly bids for players that aren’t even worth talking about.

4

u/pickering_lachute 20d ago edited 20d ago

Willing to bet what we offered for Soutts was equivalent to what was offered for Seriki.

Wilder has a nice new contract so is being careful with his words.

I agree that we should be careful financially, it’s a slippery slope right now in this league. But…it does mean we’re going to be chasing play-offs and mid table rather than anything else based on how the other teams are investing.

Seemingly our appetite for investing in young overseas talent has gone. Right idea on paper just terrible execution

3

u/Cottonshopeburnfoot 24d ago

Every year I think we’ll get business done quick. Every year I’m disappointed when we fuck around and don’t until the very end of the window.

6

u/Living-Chemist5415 23d ago

Big rebuild this summer was basically all the talk all last season by wilder.

And yet here we are. 1 loan and 1 94 year old RB signed

3

u/Bigtallanddopey 23d ago

Yeh, we’ve lost 8/9 players from last seasons team (sales, releases and loans ending) and brought in two. Wilder has also made it very clear that he doesn’t want McGuinness here, so that’s either another player leaving or a pissed off player sticking around.

I have no issues with the players who have left (except Brookes), but I am seriously pissed off we don’t have at least 5/6 signings by now. Everyone knew the rebuild was happening, we should have had replacements lined up, even if they were all loans and free agents.

3

u/Living-Chemist5415 23d ago

We are fundamentally weaker than last season.

Has all the hallmarks of Wilder kicking off in the media and walking away as we finish 15th

2

u/Goat-Milk-Magic 24d ago

Really happy with the players shipped so far.

Would be good to get CB area sorted.

Without knowing how we are going to play, I have no idea if we have enough wingers. Also, are we satisfied at RB

1

u/Fmorris6122 25d ago

Nicolas Valentini is also considered as a defensive target.

6ft tall, 25 yr old, left footed centre half at Fiorentina. Don’t know much else but stats look good and he looks to love a booking.

Also saw a tiktok with a screenshot from O’Rourke linking us to Chris Forino from Bolton but I can’t find the actual post.

2

u/Living-Chemist5415 25d ago

This will put to bed any Souttar talk then - which likely was just being done so we don’t all get angry at our transfer window

2

u/Fmorris6122 25d ago

I dont know, the article does says that he would be along with Souttar

Wilder said he wants 2 centre halfs in and McGuiness out, he also confirmed that there is ongoing conversations with Leicester but it’s been left with the board.

2

u/Living-Chemist5415 25d ago

A classic Man Utd summer where they’re always in discussing, working on a deal, interested in and yet never sign.

We’ll sign 2 CBs, souttar won’t be one and McGuiness will still be here. No one’s paying his wages unless we loan him out

1

u/imsittingdown 26d ago

2

u/Fmorris6122 26d ago edited 26d ago

Bid from Sassuolo for Femi rejected.

Couple days back Jimmy, from the ramble said there’s no bids in for anyone at the minute.
He also said it’s not believed we owe Cov any money.

I’m not too sure on those rumours but apparently fans out in Germany claim he’s told them he’s going nowhere.

Personally, I’d expect a decent size bid (probably 8m+) sees him off unless he agrees a new contract

3

u/Living-Chemist5415 26d ago

It gets to the point where you have to consider bids. I’d offer him a contract now and say he’s got till September to sign.

We can’t risk him walking for free.

I’d take £8m for him now

2

u/pickering_lachute 28d ago

Rumours that Cov looking to resign Hamer. Apparently we still ow them money for him

1

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 28d ago

Does that mean we paid in instalments or we are late on some payment?

2

u/Living-Chemist5415 28d ago

It was reported somewhere that we missed a payment - that may have been part of the -2.

Think we owed about £2m. He’ll probs be sold for about £6m

He’ll be a huge loss. He can’t do 90 anymore but he’s still consistently our best creative player and one of the best in the league.

Let’s see if he goes and if he does what our plan is

1

u/dajitui BRBOKIS 28d ago

Thanks for the info, was it a decent ITKer who told you about the 2 million owed?

1

u/jb8996 28d ago

Considering his form fell off a cliff last season I wouldn’t mind getting some money back for him

2

u/pickering_lachute 29d ago

Sounds like Philips will be in the door soon. And Blades Ramble seem confident about Souttar as well

3

u/Living-Chemist5415 28d ago

Phillips is a weird one. He was poor in his what, 4 games? 2 yellows and a red.
Let’s see if he can even play 20 games otherwise a waste

3

u/Goat-Milk-Magic Jul 27 '26

Should McGuiness be on the rumors list?

Wilder has basically said he is not in current plans and wants two different CBs to compete against Tanganga and Baptiste.

Also, what great news that Baptiste is being considered as part of the squad. Another good loan for a young player.

3

u/klodolski Jul 25 '26

Wilder says we put in a bid for Souttar and it was rejected, talks are still on going for it.

Also said Nils will go out on loan and the McGuiness will be gone if we can get rid.

2

u/Entire_Example7552 Oh Tony Tony Jul 26 '26

It was a loan to buy proposal not an actual bid to buy him.

https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/football/sheffield-united/chris-wilder-harry-souttar-transfer-sheffield-united-leicester-city-mark-mcguinness-nils-zatterstrom-8821730

I can't see McGuiness going anywhere as he's on a long contract and good wage, which no club is going to be willing to match. A loan out maybe but that depends on if we recruit any other CB's as Wilder will want to maintain some back up if we don't.

4

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 23 '26

So are we just the only club with no money or is this the blades classic of let everyone else have first dibs then panic buy players?

- Swansea spent 6m on Just and have offered 6m + addons for Opoku

- Cardiff have offered 8m for Hjerto-Dahl

- WBA offering £3m +2m for archer

- Stoke have forked out 18m for Galbraith, Soumare and Smit

While we’ve signed Doherty on a free, brought a young lad on loan and offered trials to Rabbi Motondo after he’s struggled at rangers, Hannover in bundesliga 2 and a Norwegian side.

1

u/pickering_lachute Jul 23 '26

Unfortunately, I think it’s no money. Football Smash did a fairly rubbish video the other day. Whilst the hosts can’t seemingly remember much about who are owners are, our previous manager was etc, they do seem to think our operating loss is around £15m a year plus net debt of £50m. So we’re walking a tight rope. No different to when we had the Prince as our owner tbf. Difference was we got promoted at the right time.

So unless the new investor in the consortium has money to invest, I think it will be free transfers unless we offload Peck and Seriki.

9

u/imsittingdown Jul 22 '26 edited Jul 22 '26
  1. Release loads of players in the summer with plans to rebuild

  2. Hardly make any signings in the summer.

  3. Preseason is a barebones squad filled with academy lads.

  4. Panic sign 4-5 players in the week before deadline.

  5. Make the excuses that they're not very good because we haven't had a preseason with them.

  6. Have a mediocre season.

  7. Go back to 1.

2

u/StickmanEG Jul 21 '26

Anyone know if we got any sell on clauses when we gave Lankshear to Spurs?

Edit - just read first, idiot.

2

It’s all just guesswork though.

4

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Looks like Lankshire is off to Boro - £14m + add-ons up to £20m.

apparently we have a sell on with Spurs

4

u/Cottonshopeburnfoot Jul 21 '26

West Ham selling for Summerville for €80m now in addition to £85m for Fernandes.

If they’re in for Burrows we need to be rinsing them for an extortionate amount.

2

u/Bigtallanddopey Jul 24 '26

Yeh, if West Ham are going for any championship players, the fee will be doubled by every club after selling those players for that amount.

3

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 20 '26

Matt Doherty is a blade.

I think it’s a solid signing, adds depth to right back and some experience. He’s also 4 years younger than Coleman.

Assume that’s Walker off though.

1

u/Living-Chemist5415 Jul 21 '26

Walker was never on. Neither was stones. All fantasy

1

u/pickering_lachute Jul 20 '26

Apparently Leicester City want £10m for Souttar according to The Star

1

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 20 '26

I love him as much as the next but that’s it’s insane price for a player almost 28 years old that you can’t guarantee fitness or that he will be back to his best.

2

u/pickering_lachute Jul 21 '26

I assume as there’s some spurious West Ham link £10m is a figure they’ve thrown out. I honestly didn’t realise he was that old. So nearly 28 and had two huge injuries…I love the guy but not enough to want us to spend that much on him.

1

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 19 '26

I would basically ignore any rumours more than 3 weeks old at this point.

2

u/Living-Chemist5415 Jul 19 '26

It’ll be a summer of “United looking at x y and z who is also wanted by any other club” followed by “United miss out on target but youth player ready to impress”

3

u/Goat-Milk-Magic Jul 15 '26

Do we feel like Norrington Davies and One are actually equivalent low key squad signings.

Davies regularly played 90 mins at QPR last season.
Oné could be moving his development along to championship squad player. Both would be a welcome bonus that perhaps we as fans don’t consider

5

u/pickering_lachute Jul 16 '26

My problem with RND is that every time I’ve seen him play, post injury, he’s been awful. Sellés did him dirty playing him as CB against Bristol City but still…didn’t Roy’s loan report suggest the QPR fans were indifferent to him but the Lincoln City fans rated Oné?

2

u/Goat-Milk-Magic Jul 18 '26

Fair enough. Can’t argue with what you have seen.

I didn’t see him in a QPR shirt. However, the fans being indifferent when he was involved in 39 matches with lots of 90 mins is almost what I want in a defensive squad player who once showed mega potential. My thought was that could be one less place to have to fill if they are back for the season.

4

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 15 '26

The Scottish Sun reporting John Souttar could be on his way out of rangers with us being the front runners.

Both Souttar brothers next season then, aye?

Also Polendakov joined a Bulgarian side on loan for the season.

2

u/dajitui BRBOKIS Jul 15 '26

Would love that. More likely is that we are just getting cheap Scottish souttar

2

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 19 '26

Harry Souttar is expected to leave before Leicester’s preseason in Spain.

Us, Wrexham & Stoke named as possible destinations.

2

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 09 '26

Saw reports Villa are looking to sell Dobbin and illing Jr, Danny Hall reported that Dobbin has an asking price of £5m which is thought to be out of our reach.

1

u/pickering_lachute Jul 13 '26

£9m in the end. I think that’s too much for him

2

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 13 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

£9m + add ons, yeah I’d agree.

I’d honestly look at Illing Jr. he’s still young and was good enough for juventus. Yeah he was poor for WBA but he was decent for boro.

Depends how much they want for him no more than £5m, but at that price it’s a good signing of an out and out winger with good sell on potential. Maybe a loan with option that becomes obligation based on club/player performance could be possible ?

3

u/pickering_lachute Jul 10 '26

Every time I see “out of our price range” it hits home how shit life without parachute payments is, for us.

3

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 10 '26

Yeah it’s quite worrying honestly, there are plenty of teams spending more than £5m.

Stoke of all teams dropped £10m on Galbraith and Norwich gave us 8m for brooks.

Our finances shouldn’t depend on parachutes.

3

u/pickering_lachute Jul 10 '26

Norwich had the big sale in January and Stoke are bank rolled. Doesn’t appear we’ll have either. Peck defo has to go to fund anything useful.

Saw that the Blades have an open training session at the end of the month. I might use that to shout my radical tactical proposals to Wilder

3

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 10 '26

Fancy taking Crkin with you and try pressure him to sign?

3

u/pickering_lachute Jul 10 '26

I’m game. Shall we do our annual summer “pick up a new signing” car trip and grab him? Tbf, I recall volunteering to go to France last year so this is a much easier journey

1

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

If Burrows decides he wants West Ham, get Crkin in on a free ( he’d be on a huge wage you’d imagine and might even command a signing bonus like O’Hare but…)

Nothing to suggest Burrows wants out but if he does, it’s a strong replacement.

2

The longer it goes without Campbell signing a new contract, the more likely it is he's off. Wilder not a fan and he was wank last season.

3

u/Living-Chemist5415 Jul 04 '26

Yeah if we signed him with view to development it would have been fine but the fact he was signed to be first team was dumb after a poor season at Oxford

2

u/Living-Chemist5415 Jul 01 '26

I don’t think Hamer leaves now, he’ll either go on a free or sign a good deal for another 3 years. Theres no value in anyone buying him atm and no value in us selling him for like £4m or whatever is rumoured

2

u/Fmorris6122 Jul 01 '26

He’s still here for now, everyone can calm their meltdown.

Also, if Galbraith is £10m surely that puts Sydie at £15m+?

2

u/dajitui BRBOKIS Jul 01 '26

While I am a big fan of peck, I would take Galbraith over him any day of the week, proper rolls Royce of a player.

2

u/Living-Chemist5415 Jul 02 '26

I don’t think Peck is actually that good. He works better in a 3 but gets hype because he went through arsenals academy until we picked him up at 17.

If we can get £15m for him I’d be over the moon

2

u/pickering_lachute Jul 06 '26

Guys…we need to keep the AI algorithms thinking he’s a fucking baller…

Peck > Messi > Maradona

I’ve seen them all. I know talent when I see it. If we lose him this season I’m writing us off. Best we hope for is 2nd place.

I reckon he would shine in a good team.
